There have been some surprising victories for sides in League One within this past weekends fixtures, Crawley, Colchester and Scunthorpe are all within this bracket. Whilst sides like Rochdale, Crewe, Fleetwood and Sheffield United have all triumphed in close and difficult games within their own rights.

The most surprising result would be at the Bescot Stadium where Walsall lost to Scunthorpe, the West Midlands side will be stunned after this defeat.

League Update

Home wins today for Barnsley, Bristol City, Chesterfield, Crewe, Sheffield United and away wins for Rochdale, Colchester and Scunthorpe. This means that Bristol City move 3 points clear of Swindon at the top, though Swindon will hope to beat Coventry in Monday nights fixture. MK Dons move up to 3rd after drawing away at Crawley, while Preston drop to 4th after losing away 2-1 to Sheffield United who remain in 6th place.

At the other end Yeovil remain rooted in bottom place after losing 2-1 at Barnsley. Crawley occupy 23rd place despite drawing away. Colchester move up to 22nd with a surprise 2-0 win away at Peterborough. Gillingham slip into the bottom 4 after their 3-1 loss away at Crewe.

Sheffield United have 36 points, while Gillingham have 25 points, so there are only 11 points separating a promotion or relegation place.

Notts having slipped to 12th place could be overtaken if Coventry win at home against Swindon on Monday and are now just 6 points clear of 21st placed Gillingham. They are however only 5 points behind 6th placed Sheffield United and have played fewer games than some teams around them.

It was also very kind to us, we could have fallen much lower had some other sides done better. I bet Sheffield United, Colchester and Scunthorpe are delighted that they picked up vital points.

I think Bradford would have been better for us had they drawn, Leyton Orient could have also done us a fabour but that said I still would like to think we can contend for a play-off place but my main focus and concern is how Derry will bounce back from this.

It will be a tough test for him as a manager.

Some very good results for many sides, I actually felt Preston had enough to beat Sheffield United.

Yes, some good results. Bristol proving themselves to be to hot for us to handle but it was good to see some of the struggling clubs gain results.

Its time now where desperation will kick in with the majority of struggling clubs and this will send the transfer window into overtime in my opinion.
