Kevin Nolan has expressed his happiness with Jorge Grant returning to goalscoring form for Notts County. The 23-year-old midfielder scored his 18th goal of the season on Saturday as he broke the deadlock in an eventual 2-0 win over Stevenage at Meadow Lane. Nolan had admitted last week how Grant was annoyed at his lack of goals in 2018, having netted 16 times before the turn of the year, and revealed how he had a tough week prior to the game. “I spoke about Jorge before the game bAdded by Joe Jones

Kevin Nolan has praised Notts County's players for not letting the crowd's anxiety in the Stevenage game filter through to them before they got their goals in the 2-0 win. The Magpies endured a tense afternoon at Meadow Lane last Saturday but managed to find the breakthrough on 77 minutes through Jorge Grant not long before Shola Ameobi added a killer second. The home fans were understandably nervous given how the game was going and how Notts had floundered in some of the previous gameAdded by Joe Jones

Grimsby Town chairman John Fenty has declared that he is open to speaking to Sol Campbell about their vacant managerial position. The former England defender, who had a one-game spell at Notts County in 2009, told a podcast last week that he could not understand why "one of the greatest minds in football" was being overlooked for jobs. Campbell was speaking after failing to land the Oxford United job, but Fenty has said he is willing to speak to the 43-year-old as he searches for a repAdded by Joe Jones

Adam Collin is pleased with having secured another clean sheet and three points in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Stevenage. Notts County had to be patient in the League Two encounter at Meadow Lane, the first goal not coming until the 77th minute when substitute Jorge Grant rifled home. Shola Ameobi then added a second minutes later and, combined with Collin's second shutout in three games, went on to get three crucial points in the race for promotion. Kevin Nolan has praised Notts County's perseverance as they ground out a 2-0 win over Stevenage on Saturday. The Magpies had suffered a downturn of form prior to the League Two game at Meadow Lane and were in danger of seeing their promotion hopes fade away. Although the performance was little to write home about, Notts nonetheless succeeded in taking all three points thanks to late goals from Jorge Grant and Shola Ameobi. Alan Hardy has paid tribute to the Notts County fans for getting behind the team even during the leaner spells and insists the fanbase has a huge role to play in the latter stages of the season. However, County's form has tailed off in 2018, with four defeats, two draws and just three wins from the nine league games this calendar year. This has sent Notts -Added by Joe Jones

Sol Campbell has claimed that clubs are afraid to appoint "one of the greatest minds in football" after he was overlooked for the Oxford United job. Kevin Nolan has admitted that Jorge Grant is getting frustrated due to his downturn in form but stresses that Notts County can't just rely on him all the time. The 23-year-old has scored 17 goals this season but only one has come this calendar year, which has coincided with the Magpies also stumbling in League Two. Kevin Nolan has urged the Notts County players to "stand up and be counted" over the coming weeks as the League Two campaign enters its latter stages. Kevin Nolan says he is "deeply disappointed" with Notts County's 1-0 loss at Cambridge United and believes his players are lacking confidence in the final third. Medy Elito's goal on the half-hour mark condemned the Magpies to defeat at the Abbey Stadium, which dealt yet another blow to their fading automatic promotion hopes. Kevin Nolan was sad to see Shaun Derry lose his job as Cambridge United manager but has tipped the former Notts County boss to be back in the game sooner rather than later. The Magpies head to the Abbey Stadium on Tuesday to face the U's, who are currently being managed by Joe Dunne on a caretaker basis. Cambridge have experienced an upturn in form under Dunne, having won two games under the 44-year-old and Nolan believes they will be tough opponents. “It will be tough because CamAdded by Joe Jones

Kevin Nolan has stressed that each member of the Notts County squad will play a part in the latter stages of the League Two campaign. The wear and tear of the season has shown in recent weeks, with players absent through injury or illness, and tweaks having to be made to each matchday XI. In the goalless draw with Newport County, Terry Hawkridge and Dan Jones were left out of the squad, while Shola Ameobi was sidelined with a knock. Kevin Nolan has declared himself "delighted" with a clean sheet and a point from Notts County's goalless draw at Newport County on Saturday but feels the Magpies could have won the game. A grind of a game at Rodney Parade ended with a share of the spoils as Notts - who had the better of the chances - slipped to fifth in the League Two table. Alan Hardy has stressed that Notts County's destiny is still in their own hands in terms of promotion and insists that a top-three finish in League Two remains the objective. The Magpies' league form has been patchy for a while and last week's loss to Barnet dealt a big blow, although a win against Carlisle United at Meadow Lane stabilised the ship. With Newport County away taking place today, Hardy insists Notts must just concentrate on themselves and is looking ahead to a run of gameAdded by Joe Jones

Kevin Nolan has stressed that Notts County will need to ensure they adapt properly to Newport County's pitch when they play the Exiles on Saturday. The Rodney Parade turf sees three teams play on it - the football club and two rugby teams - which means plenty of wear and tear, and criticism over its quality. Despite three quarters of a million pounds being invested into the pitch by the Welsh Rugby Union last summer to improve its drainage, it continues to have issues. Just last wAdded by Joe Jones
