BBC football : Callum McGregor

Featured Replies

I have a lot of time for Callum McGregor, he's such a likeable lad and during his time at Notts he did some kind gestures which I won't forget. Such as an away game against Colchester United where I spoke to him for the first time (unaired interview).

I'm also delighted he's achieved what he hoped for, by representing the football he loves.

But I have always wished he tried his hands in within the English game again, he's a bit past that now and, there was a point he struggled to get the game time he deserved. As a natural gifted footballer, he's better than Celtic by miles. Which leaves me to say that Scottish football isn't that much to write home about. It's the level of the lower half of Championship/League One at best. Some titles to his name, happened during periods where he wasn't even considered a first team regular.

As I say, I am over the moon for him, but I have to have a sense of realism.

The BBC have hyped the achievements massively.

@Piethagoram I believe Sunderland once showed interest in him also.

Wolves could've been a step towards a bigger team, as I do feel Callum McGregor could do a tidy job for any of the bigger teams. At least he's made something of himself at a club he genuinely loves, that is something I really respect.

Good for Callum McGregor, he's done well with Celtic. One of their best home grown players of all time IMO.
