New Notts Head coach

I'm hearing a lot about what a great coach he is, but the question he has to answer is does he have the tactical nous needed to win games in this division. And does he have a plan B?

I'm not getting overly excited about this, and will wait to see how we go in pre season.

i refuse to judge him without seeing how the team performs, i know managers aren't built on their records or past as such as especially someone quite new to management. there is signs that hes a good coach, which appears to be what the club wants but i am hopeful that he is strong in the man management department.

nobody should be quick to judge him without seeing at least 10-12 performances.

hopefully, he can pick up from where ian burchnall left.

Good luck with Luke. You will get at least some entertaining quotes. "3 draws = a win" comes to mind. Our old Chairman gave him a 5 year deal! Not good financially for STFC when the inevitable quickly happened.

This appointment doesn't fill me with confidence. This is probably spectacularly harsh, but the 25 per cent win rate and the less than impressive references from Swindon fans leave a big question mark in my mind. I'm a bit worried that we've got another manager who thinks we can tiki taka our way out of the National League when it's very obvious we need to be more direct at times.

Swindon have had a tough few years, while at Notts he'll inherit a team that isn't too many tweaks short of a title push. I hope Luke Williams can repay the faith the owners have invested in him and show us just why he got the job.

Well it’s the kind of appointment everyone was expecting. Yes his stats from Swindon aren’t great but I don’t know if that team/environment suited him. We are setup for a head coach, so it should suit him here. I’d be surprised if he does terribly due to the fact we have players that are more than good enough for this level.

Can he get us promoted though? That’s the real challenge but I hope so!

This will end in tears going for the cheaper option, who the hell is Luke Williams, they've really messed up big time

It was always going to be a left field appointment @4everapie, but at least this guy does have a lot more coaching experience than IB had, but his style of play does sound very similar. I totally agree with @DangerousSausage view, and think we are a bit delusional to think that you can play pretty football all the time to get out of this league. We need to be more physical at times and be able to bully sides when passing it around isn't working. Footballers at this level cannot play like Man City and ping the ball around with pace, we are more obsessed at times with just passing the ball sideways and taking too many touches.

More pace and more power is still needed, and I think they might just be learning this with the additions of two quick players and one being 6ft plus. I still think we need at least one more centre half (hopefully two, Bajrami is one being talked about), a target man who is good in the air, and a 6ft plus, brutish central midfielder.

I wouldn't go by how we do in the pre season Practice games they mean nothing.

Gives you an idea on playing style, pace we move the ball at and shape though. I probably phrased it badly.
