its scary to think how much losses the top teams down to the championship make, what is more alarming is how the higher amounts are falling down the leagues. it wont be long until many league one teams are losing such high amounts.

football needs to take better care of its finances.

    When the parachute payments are so blatantly unfair to the vast majority of Championship Clubs, it's hardly surprising that clubsΒ  are going to get into trouble financially, trying to keep up with these much richer clubs.

    You only have to look to the current top of the Championship to see this unfairness.

    There needs to be a drastic change, starting with abolishing parachute payments and putting a cap on wages & spending on players.

    Football is a big gamble, but many aren’t ready to invest over several years and establish measures to enhance their financial situation. Teams like QPR spend heavily to reach the Premier League and depend on the parachute payments for support. It might be time to abandon this approach in favour of methods that ensure teams can maintain their operations if they get relegated.
