Seven Assists for Aaron already this season topping League 2 Assists. In hindsight did Notts miss a trick not keeping him?

When you see him doing so well, it does look like a mistake. And right now Gordon who has replaced him, isn't exactly excelling.

But I'm not going to deny that for a lot of last season I thought both Aaron and Jodi on the wings were a touch overkill in terms of overloading the side with attacking players. Like Jodi, he's basically a winger playing at wingback. Maybe with the new defence things would've been better, I think chances are he'd have been fine because we are a lot stronger at the back now.

However he is clearly a lot more effective and happier on the right hand side, would we have seen him play here though? The wingbacks are probably the most different aspect to Stuart Maynard's coaching so it's more than likely he'd have played more on the left this season. I don't think he'd get as many assists playing here, cutting inside isn't his strength. He was all about using his pace to get in behind and staying really wide on that right hand side. The wingbacks don't get in behind as much now either and I think it would've been even harder for him on the left-hand side as he'd have to use his weaker foot more often too...

Potential positional issues aside, I think the squad would be stronger with him in it.

I think with the injury situation it's definitely an oversight, but hindsight is 20/20 after all, I wonder how much of his leaving was by his request rather than the clubs; no evidence to back that statement mind but it did seem a bit out of left field (pardon the pun) that he went over to MK. 

Nice lad though so hoping he smashes it.

I really hope that Conor Grant proves to be a big asset for us, as I do miss seeing Aaron Nemane ripping apart teams and putting in crosses exactly like shown in the footage. I understand the decision to accept the bid; I simply hope that the fee and grant align favourably. Prior to Grants injury, I did feel like he was coming into it with his performances, and whilst he's a totally different player. I can see Grant firing in goals once he does find his feet again.

I'm also glad that Arron Nemane is doing well, even though I don't like MK Dons.

I agree. It was a surprise when he went to MK Dons, but he's not expected to do much defensive duty there, so I think he's much happier.

Under Luke Williams it was the same but Maynard is more defensive minded.

I was really sorry to see him go and I do think the squad is weaker for it, he was an exciting player it was great to see him running at defences, I hope he continues to flourish for his sake but wish he was still here.

Selling him on the eve of the season didn't put out the most positive of messages, but with Grant - a long-term target - coming in I was inclined to give the club the benefit of the doubt.

Now Nemane is contributing with his assists elsewhere while Jones and Grant are on the treatment table, it's safe to say this transaction hasn't gone well for us so far.

Nemane was good going forward but was wanting when it came to his defensive duties.

We also have to say it as it is that Jodi was subject to a lot of over the top challenges on the playing field before & up to the time he was injured.

Stuart had complained about it on many occasions  beforehand but unfortunately he still wasn't protected by the officials adequately.

Maybe the money offered by MK Dons was too good to turn down? I agree with @Robbie about his defensive duties. 

I think that MK Dons got much more out of the transfer than Notts did.

Grant wasn't the same type of player, & I think Notts would have been better served by getting a fast tricky wingback that was reasonable in defence too.

Conor only played 11 games for MK Dons in the 23/24 season & got loaned out to Barnsley where he made 12 appearances so 23 in total that season.

Conor does have an injury record He underwent surgery on his groin in summer 2022, returning to fitness in September. He played nine games before tearing a thigh muscle two months later, which required surgery and kept him out of action for five months;

Notts do seem to take a chance on players with a past injury record.
