Can Notts make the playoffs? They have eight games remaining. Four at home, & four away. None of the games left will be easy.

Newport away, MK Dons Home

Colchester away, Salford Home

Bradford away, Cheltenham Home

Harrogate away, Doncaster home.

Notts have 62 points. I think another four wins could be enough, which would give Notts 74 in total. Maybe a few draws mixed in would be even better.

Thoughts?

It's odd that we are only 2 points off an automatic spot but if feels like it's much bigger margin! I'm definitely looking the other way I'd put us in a mini-league with Grimsby, Colchester and Crewe for those last two spots now. We only have a 4 point gap and if our current form continues we will drop out of them come the end of the season.

That said I do I think we are good enough to finish inside the play-offs, we just need to go at teams a bit more especially at home. Right now though I think it'll be really close, I want to say yes but I'm just not sure.

it really depends on if we can get back to winning ways and how long that might take, as this rate i think there is more a chance that the club will fall out of the playoffs. i still believe we have the squad that can finish in the automatics, but we are not playing like it. the amount of teams who are grinding out results and showing a clearer ability to score goals, whereas even when we are able to score, we concede one more and it undoes the effort. the playoffs is going to be such a gamble for any team that makes it but i think we need to try to at least finish within them.

8 games remain, we need to see a dramatic increase in form.

the rollercoaster of a season has done the loopty loop and notts are now faces the point of the biggest drop.

doncaster and bradford being two remaining games, those will be hard. donny and port vale have a game in hand, we lost the chance of making ours count. i would hope as our season excels to the final point of the ride we are able to keep within the playoffs at least.

I would sadly say we now have to add Salford to our mini-league as we’ve just boosted their chances again. Crewe lost yesterday but Grimsby could go level on points with us and Colchester just the three behind so we are relying on some other teams to do us a favour tomorrow. A tough away game at Bradford for us next too, my confidence levels have been dented... 😬 😰

Games left for our nearest rivals for a playoff spot.

Colchester, Newport A, Crewe H, Donny A, Salford A, Barrow H

Salford, Donny H, Accrington H, Morcambe A, Colchester H, Carlisle A.

Crewe, Colchester A, MK Dons H, Tranmere A, Walsall H.

Chesterfield, Fleetwood H, Wimbledon A, Bradford H, Morcambe H, Accrington A.

Salford, Crewe & Colchester have to play each other.

All four still  have to play a side in the top 5.

So with just the two matches remaining now we have made this a lot harder than it should’ve been! Crewe are all but done, they could still make the play-offs but it’s extremely unlikely. Chesterfield can only get to 70, but they have favourable fixtures in Morecambe and Accrington. Salford play Colchester next and Grimsby are away at MK... We simply have to win against Harrogate because Doncaster at home will not be easy.

If we scrape over the line, it’s going to be quite possibly the most bizarre play-offs for a while as no-one will be in good form or have much confidence they can win them.

If Donny beat Bradford (highly possible) and Wimbledon beat Port Vale (highly unlikely) then Donny will have won the league before they come to Meadow Lane for the last game of the season. If this is the case, then they'd have had a few beers and won't be as aggressive as they will if they need to win.... then we have chance.

Lots of permutations in the offing in this league as we enter the last two games.

There will be lots of twists and turns before those games are done.

It would be very unlucky if we were to slip out of the playoffs now, but stranger things have happened. However, I look at the season, I think we have grown and done well as a club who is only in their second season back within the English Football League.

But in typical Notts fashion, it's going to go down to the wire.

The only team I can see potentially edging themselves into the playoffs is Colchester United. Ideally, we'll get a positive result at the weekend and they drop points, leaving the playoffs final spaces to be fought between Grimsby Town and whoever can challenge them. It's going to be interesting, though I hope some of our supporters can get over this Maynard out stuff and just back the team or club, as they say managers come and go.

Missing out on the playoffs would be a major disappointment, much like how we felt when we deserved promotion in the National League but underperformed in the playoff final against Chesterfield. That’s why I believe Walsall deserves a place in the automatics, they’ve shown they belong. I found their fans calling for the manager’s dismissal perplexing, even during a rough patch. Their situation highlights how harmony and unity are essential for clubs striving for promotion.
