Notts to celebrate neighbours' Cup win

With Forest just 90 minutes away from the FA Cup final, the dream of Wembley glory is tantalisingly close. And Notts County chiefs have come up with a unique gesture should their rivals lift the cup in May.

In the event of Forest winning the trophy, the Reds are to incorporate a red shield on next season's shirts featuring the FA Cup, the Forest badge and two stars symbolising their two FA Cup wins. And their Trentside neighbours plan to do likewise, sewing the celebratory red badges next to their own badge on next season's home shirt.

A Notts source commented: "Forest winning the FA Cup would be a once-in-a-lifetime event for everyone in the city. With this symbolic gesture we want to maintain the current positive relations between the clubs and extend our congratulations to our neighbours."

Councillor Jo King added: "This is a wonderful example of our city of sport standing together and shows how much more we can achieve when we work together. I'm sure every County fan will be delighted to sport Forest's special FA Cup badge for the whole of the 25-26 season."

As part of the celebrations, tentative plans are also being drawn up to parade the famous trophy at Meadow Lane prior to County's first home game of the season while "Mull of Kintyre" plays over the tannoy.

Yes and I used to attend a lot of Reds games years ago  but that was when I lived Alfreton.Alfreton Town FC are nicknamed the reds.I don't suppose this has anything to do with the date.

Well you had me going for a minute when I saw the thread title my first reaction was unrepeatable.

Yes and I also accuse you of spreading laughter with so many of your posts even though you are experiencing a tough time at the moment.You have a lovely sense of humour that is missed when you aren't posting.When  @GrannyPie left us I found the posts by PoN members to me very helpful and supportive.I hope PoN helps you too.

I've e-mailed the club and Jo King with my thoughts, I urge all Notts fans to do the same... Or I guess you could just watch Forest get beaten by Man City in the semi-final 😇🤞 

I vote for @DangerousSausage to become the Pride of Nottingham's official April Fools planner. The good old days when PON used to create them were fantastic, especially the Jake Bugg prank, which Nottinghamshire Live picked up before realising it was an April Fools. 🤣

I nearly announced Steve Thompson as our new DoF @CliftonMagpie, but I was too afraid of the man himself getting wind of it!

Please, don't bring that up. JJ managed to fool people twice, involving Jake Bugg. One where some fans actually bought into our story about him having signed a pro deal with the club. 🤣

Talk Sport also picked the story up, but they had a sense of humour about it.

We'll need to discuss things a week or so before the next April Fool's as this could have been a very funny one to have shared onto social media. 😆
