George Abbott

Ah, I haven't really kept in the loop recently, and I remember him missing the last game I attended. My mind, for some reason, jumped ahead of itself, and I thought this was going to be about him being injured and ultimately recalled by Spurs. Thank God, it's not this. πŸ˜…

He does deserve to be nominated as one of the runners for the award, he's been brilliant.

George Abbott is up against Nathan Lowe and Bobby Pointon of Bradford... I'd make him the favourite, I think Nathan Lowe only having played 22 matches in League 2 is a bit unfair against the other two.

In terms of Player of the Season for League 2 Cheek,Β Molyneux and Lowe (again) are the candidates. I am slightly surprised Didzy didn't get a nomination.

No idea why only 3 players have been nominated in these categories, almost makes it look like there's no-one in League 2 worthy, especially when one of the candidates only played in the League for half the season!

George Abbott has grown immensely since joining the first team. From a reserved player hesitant to celebrate with fans at the start of the season, he's developed into someone who could one day be a squad leader and a future club captain. His talent is undeniable, though he needs to manage his temper better as his short fuse can be a concern. Nonetheless, his growth as a player is exciting to watch.

Be funny if that goal didn’t win our goal of the season (I think it will though). Our shortlist will basically be a Didzy show-reel with Abbott’s Accrington and Cheltenham goals.

I think he can count himself a tad unfortunate not to win League 2's Young Player of the Season. Now, I’m not dissing Nathan Lowe who is a great player, but surely the winner should be a player who has actually played the whole season in League 2Β πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@menzinhoΒ I think football politics was behind Lowe winning it. Abbott being loaned out to Notts from a Premier League Club may have been a factor too, why he wasn't considered, although I hope it wasn't the case.

I’m happy he won, but I wonder how many people actually watched all the goals and how they were narrowed down. It was a brilliant strike, and the way the ball fell made it feel destined to hit the back of the net. Still, I think we’ve seen better goals, especially those with stronger build-up. David McGoldrick’s efforts this season have been outstanding, and it will be interesting when voting opens, assuming Notts doesn’t influence it too much. I wouldn't say George Abbott’s goal is the club’s best this season, but I’m delighted he won the EFL award.
