I wondered if his real motive is ...I see SM is under pressure...I'm here....but I will walk out again when a better offer comes along....no thanks

Ian had his time at Notts.

Now it is Stuart Maynard's time. Hopefully, Stuart will get Notts over the line. Something that Ian failed to do.

I did wonder the same thing, he talked about keeping in contact with the brothers, what a great club it is etc. Hmm, not sure he’d be welcomed back.

Ian Burchnall isn't a manager that would make my top 20 Notts manager. The way he left us and used the club to jump ahead of himself without committing to what he said really rubbed me the wrong way. He was very average in truth, and I much prefer Stuart Maynard. The best thing Burchnall did was take the FGR role, as it allowed someone else to come in and improve the squad. Luke Williams might have left in a similar way, but at least he gave us fans and the players something to believe in.

Burchnall is just as wide-eyed as he looks, and there's a reason he's not in management now. He could very well be a good coach, but I really don't care for his memory lane tales of how much Notts meant to him. If the words held up, he wouldn't have been as foolish to leave for Forest Green.

Thank God he did, as we wouldn't have gotten promoted under him.

I don't know whether he'd have got us promoted, but he laid the foundation for our promotion-winning season by switching to a system with wing-backs and adopting a more attacking style rather than Ardley's safety first approach. So I believe he played his part, but we've moved on and so did he.

Since the brothers are involved with clubs other than Notts, he's be daft not to stay in touch, but I wouldn't be thrilled to see him back.
