Who do you want for our next manager

Featured Replies

Please can we a have Head Coach with plenty of league 2 & or league 1 experience?

A Head Coach who has a good knowledge of league 1 & 2 players & good idea of the players required to get us out of this league.

No more non league experiments. Let's get the real McCoy this time.

Also an interesting call @Piethagoram. Last week, the journalist Pete O'Rourke posted that he was facing the sack from York after losing in the playoffs. This isn't just a rumour monger - it's the same man who broke the news about Langstaff leaving and Whitaker joining, so he's clearly well connected.

York then posted on Facebook that "Adam Hinshelwood remains the manager of York City FC", which in my eyes falls short of "he's going nowhere". From the outside, I don't think his position looks very secure and he might be open to a move. He's well thought of by the York fans, which isn't surprising after taking over in a relegation battle and leading them to 96 points.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if York rowed back on sacking him when they found that another club was interested (and willing to pay compensation)? That wouldn't necessarily mean the other club is Notts though.

I’d be pretty happy with Hinshelwood if it happens. He certainly ticks a lot of boxes, his style fits and he has completely transformed that York City team. Ever since they got promoted they’ve been fighting relegation then he comes in and in his first season they get almost 100 points, that is incredibly impressive.

My only slight concern is how York essentially flunked the play-offs having done so well in the regular reason. Them losing 3-0 (at home) was a massive shock, I think they should've at least got to the final. People talk about the mental resilience you need to do well in football in those big pressure matches. You can’t measure it but you can see and feel it. Is that missing with Hinshelwood? We were in almost the same scenario under Luke Williams in the play-offs, but you can argue he instilled that mental resilience, we fought back every time and got promoted.

Brian Priske at 2/5 on. Surely not? What a coup that would be!πŸ€‘

It goes to show how unrealistic some of our fans are. We've got about as much chance of landing Mourinho. The owners will get murdered pretty much regardless of who we appoint.

It's not hard. Just appoint a good experienced league 2 Head Coach, who can lead, coach & manage.

A leader who can quickly garner respect from his players & can get the best out of them, who knows the vast majority of players who play in league 2.

And a manager who is not afraid to change the shape & style of playing if the existing shape & style isn't working.

And last but not least, a manager that can use his substitutes to change a game if necessary.

Are you sure? I heard Mourinho was interviewed last week and someone else said they saw Mancini getting a tour around the University of Nottingham πŸ«£πŸ˜

I also want our new Head Coach to be a very good tactician. Too many times opposing teams have won the battle with their superior tactics on the day.

The new Head Coach needs to address that situation, because if Notts can win that tactical battle every time. They will not be far off the top of the table.

If I act quick, I might be able to get my name on the list of candidates by tomorrow.

I think the board will be narrowing down their selection, and I don't think it's a bad thing that they are not rushing the appointment. I do hope we end up with someone with EFL experience, but provided whoever comes in can get the best out of the squad and unite us fans. Then the season will only be another rollercoaster of a ride, a favourable fixture start and a good beginning to the campaign, and we'll wonder why we were even fussed.

At least the Reedtz don't pick based on the flavour of the month, or whoever is desperate enough to accept the job.

Did well at Wigan in 20/21 but then was quickly sacked the following year. Followed by 2 wins out of 24 at Rotherham which could explain why he has been out of work for a year.

Just hope the Brothers are true to form and it's somebody way off the radar!

It's an absolutely tiny market with relatively small bets causing big shifts. The presence of Priske and Alves in the top three tells you all you need to know. Priske is literally only there because he's Danish.

Apart from Maynard, every head coach the brothers have appointed has come out of left field. They are good at keeping things quiet and much prefer to appoint a relative unknown on the way up than somebody from the managerial merry-go-round.

Yes I have seen on social media that someone claiming to be in the know has suggested Leam Richardson could well be the next head coach.

I'm not too sure to be honest, he's got a league 1 title to his name so he's certainly got credentials but his style from what I can gather and remember wouldn't really fit with ours. Now, who knows, maybe we'll start to see a shift in that but I think it will be tweaked rather than changed completely.

It is very hard to find out even what stage the club is at, in previous years we had a reporter from the NEP that didn’t give names but knew the time-frame and when the interviews were taking place etc. I’m surprised there’s be nothing from BBCRNS, they probably have the best relationship with the club but they’ve either not got in touch or if they have the club have told them zilch…

The longer the search goes I would think it becomes more plausible the delay is due to a compensation fee needing to be agreed or a VISA needing to be approved for someone abroad... That said I am usually well off when I make predictions so cue Leam Richardson being announced later this evening!
