This was the day in Football History

55 years ago today, one of the best, if not the best international team, won the 1970 World Cup Final.

That Brazil team was simply sensational & they played a very good Italy team off the field.

As a thirteen year old I watched most of the matches on the BBC & ITV. The pictures were grainy but we were all used to that.

The pace of the match has increased, though not every game is this back and forth. It was a fantastic final. At times it felt like walking football, but the quality was still easy to see. Once the goals started going in, the match really came to life. I've watched older World Cup matches, and even when you already know the outcome, they can still be good fun to watch.

i have never had that connection with watching the world cup or euros, not when i was younger. it was only after 2010 when i first showed real interest in football, and that was more notts. i do like seeing games like this tho, you can appreciate how things have improved and its even better when people share their memories of it. watching the highlights, brazil still have no improved that much in defence. by far the best going forward, the level of confidence is off the scale.
