Good morning it’s a new week and the day is starting off sunny so far, the school holidays have started and lots of people will be heading off on holiday, so if you are one of those have a great time.

Personally being retired we avoid school holidays and prefer to go away when it’s quieter and cheaper, I really feel sorry for those folk who have to pay exorbitant prices during the school holidays.

Whatever you are up to have a great day and please come on the weekly thread for a chat about anything.

Gorgeous start to the day. I'd lined up a big gardening day at the start of this week. The forecast is wet for tomorrow, so I'll have to bring it forward to this pm.

Good all-round exercise, but I'm bracing myself now I know I'm not putting it off til tomorrow

@Piethagoram, you didn't think to get a selfie with Super? Tut. tut.... 🫨

Saturday, I went to watch Notts vs Cardiff with Jake, my friend, and his partner. Ironically, misinformation made it a real merry-go-round to obtain my season tickets. Anyone else notice lots of scratches on the bar code? A few seasons back, I was issued a ST that was visible, and I couldn't get into games reliably. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn't. However, it had no damage from looking at it, but my new one looks highly unlikely to work.

It could be worse, as my friend's partner Katrina had her name "Miss. P".. So, I kept joking that her name was Patrina. My friend, whose name is Mark, was mistakenly called Martin when he participated in the crossbar challenge last season and successfully hit it. It's too bad for them that Notts just can’t seem to get it together with their names. 😂😂😂

It was nice to be back at Meadow Lane, and I tried to make sure I said hello to everyone I know, as I want to try to combat the anxiety that I can't shake off since COVID.

Sunday, with it being my youngest daughter's 14th birthday, we all went to see Super. It was nice, though we would have stayed longer, but we didn't want to disrupt his plans for watching the England ladies defend their Euros title.

That said, we did spend a few hours with him, and it was good to catch up.

Later on at home, we played Night Before Christmas Monopoly, and that was a right laugh. Very long game, though, bordering on three to four hours. We usually play Monopoly Go for this reason, but Kate got this version for Christmas, and we hadn't played it. In typical fashion, I ended up getting cards (which would be chances) only to be sent to jail for smashing Jack's pumpkins.

Today, I don't really want to dwell on things, but I will say that I am relaxing. 👍🏻

Hello and welcome to the world of middle England, one of the most beautiful places on this planet 😍

The children are now released from their school chains and roam free on the local prairie.

Holiday prices as you say @Fan of Big Tone have conveniently gone skyward as if money is no object??

Gardening completed yesterday so as to free up time (where does it all go?). @The Anti-Clough good luck with your big project, I hope you achieve before the weather changes.

@Piethagoram what a beautiful picture, my wife's favourite cattle, the longhorns. Nice one, cheered her up for the day.

Chris, it sounds like you had a great day apart from the season tickets. Mine arrived last week through the post in perfect condition, so I must be the lucky one 😉 sounds like Meadow Lane was a good tonic for yourself on Saturday and I think for many others also. Belated birthday wishes to your daughter, i hope she enjoyed her day. Lovely to see you all stayed together and had a super day, you deserve it.

Remember Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help and brave enough to ask for it.

Some exciting news which has kept me busy; I really do wish I could clone myself!

All very positive things for PON, and from three different areas. Although I do think I will need to push two areas as a means to see this through. I know it sounds very cryptic, but I don't want to leave any open spoilers.

Not at the moment, as two of the things are in very early stages.

Match days are a good escape from day-to-day life, from knowing nobody to knowing so many great fans. I am in a very privileged position, and I do want 2025-26 to be the season where I return to challenging myself when it comes to the anxiety and mental side of things. I am very thankful that I have so much support because it might feel like it's the other way around, but I know in my heart this is not the case.

Thank you for the belated birthday wish, Michael. Ava had a lovely day.

Good morning, for the last two mornings I have woke up stone deaf because of ear wax and I mean totally deaf, it’s awful the sense of isolation, thankfully during the day one ear partially unblocks and gives me a little hearing back.

The last time this happened I was referred to the hospital to have them cleaned out so I’ve contacted the doctor to ask for another referral, I’m waiting to hear back.

I was told at the hospital last time not to go to Specsavers or Boots etc., to have it done as I have a very narrow ear canal, I hope the referral doesn’t take too long.

@Chris things sound exciting for PoN come on give us a little teaser. 😂

Good morning you lovely PONsters,

We here in middle England are a little damp this morning and the temperature at the moment is quite cool.

Sorry to hear that you are having ear issues @Fan of Big Tone. Any problem with ears is naff, never mind not being able to hear anything. My grandad suffered alot with wax and used to put a small amount of Olive Oil into each ear overnight, closely followed by some cotton wool and he swore by it for years. I hope you get sorted soon.

Maggot nicely dangled @Chris how long are you going to keep us biting before all is revealed 😀

Must get on with the chores of the day now as I have been tasked with the filling of large area's (get out the trowel) with plaster and making someone else's bad handiwork look good. Happy days 😊

Today should be quite productive, I forgot to say yesterday that my new home shirt had arrived. That will be making the worn trip to Newport on Saturday, its very nice!

There will be a teaser, but not yet Mr Tone. 😉

ETA's a very difficult when some of the scope is out of my control, but two major areas are making good progress. I think next week, might see some of the news start to filter into the site. I will of course post an announcement closer to the time, most likely dangling a carrot instead of tackle.

Morning all, happy Friday. We’ve had a quote for a new carpet in our lounge/dining room it’s a lovely thick carpet but it’s going to be nearly £1,500 shocked we thought it’d be expensive as it’s a large room, the carpet we’ve got down now was here when we moved in 14 years ago and probably a few years before that so it needs doing.

However we’ve realised that because the carpet is so thick the upvc door won’t ride over it so we’ll need a door as well, oh my goodness that’s more expense. Oh well easy come easy go as my dad used to say.

some idiot at work set of the fire alarm and it was not deactivated in time, so spray came flushing out in areas and that has meant it needs to be cleaned up. as a result, most of the staff have been asked to go home myself included because it means a deep cleaning is required and that stops us from handling the pallets which need to be sent out. things like this can delay everything for 2-3 days, its why we have scheduled maintenance and cleaning times.

if its captured on cctv that person is going to be fired for sure. 🤷‍♂️

@Fan of Big Tone, my house has wooden floors which i like. it does take some care to make sure the wood is good but its well worth it. i have been thinking about getting a carpet in my bedroom, as it does get cold and i am think a nice carpet would be good. are you getting fancy underlay? some of the more premium stuff does keep the carpet nicely spongy.

at my mums she has a nice thick carpet and that tringled type underlay which softens the feeling between the floor boards.

Yes I think underlay is very important, a good quality underlay is as important as the carpet.

The carpet chap has suggested that he lays a doormat fitted where the door opens so that we don’t need a new door, they’ll do a nice job and put edging strips so it looks nice. That’s saved us a shed load of money. 👍

Morning all, yes it’s not only matchday it’s the start of a brand new season, which we enter full of hope that our beloved Notts County will have a season good enough that we get promoted to league one, let’s take one game at a time there’ll be ups and downs I’m sure, let’s hope there are more ups then downs.

Good morning one and all,

Looking good here in the midshires.

Match day number one for our beloved team, expectations are high as we go head to head with Newport County.

All I ask for is that every individual playing today gives their all, leaving nothing on the pitch and enjoys every minute of playing time.

COME ON YOU PIES. 👍

Here in Ireland, the GAA club championship has begun. Notts first and then Dripsey vs Grenagh later this evening. It's on in Coachford which is 10 mins away. Hurling is my passion so I'm looking forward to this. I won't bore ye about the history of GAA at a local level, we'd be here all day 🤣

Good morning and happy Sunday, it’s a cloudy start and rain showers are forecast for most of the day.

Yesterdays medical emergency at the match against Newport got me thinking about air ambulances and what a great job they do, it’s fantastic they are available for situations like yesterdays. I do hope the fan is ok and they make a full recovery.

I did thanks Michael - a 3 hour slog at my age is no walk in the park, weeding while standing up is a deceptively tough exercise! I got some help though, my teenage daughter surpassed herself by doing a big chunk of it too.

Holidays over, it's back to the daily grind for me. At least we have Notts games to look forward to again 😊

I once attended a hurling fixture and was taken aback by how fast and violent it is - a great spectator sport for sure
