What a beautiful morning down at the paddock this morning, rabbits galore enjoying the early morning sunrise, birds of all shapes and sizes singing to open the dawn chorus. Refreshing to feel a breeze on ones face and the sun breaking through, giving it's warmth, helping all to make a wonderful start to the day. All done, time to walk home (about 10 minutes) grab breakfast and see what needs attention today. 🤔Then later out to my favourite Indian restaurant The Water Liley for a well earned meal (Birthday voucher to take the wallet strain).🤑 Have a great day everyone 🤠

Luka Smyth has signed for Notts County after an impressive run of form with Finnish club VPS, where he scored seven goals in his opening 14 league matches of the 2026 season. At 22 years old his biggest strengths are: Physical presence: At around 6ft 4in (1.93m), he gives defenders plenty to think about and is strong in the air. Penalty-box instincts: Most of his goals come from good movement inside the box rather than spectacular long-range efforts. Work rate: He presses defenders and is willing to battle for long balls, which can bring midfielders into play. Could this be the piece Martin has been looking for to complete the puzzle? Only time will tell, COYP ⚽️🤠

Sorry to hear about your eyes @Fan of Big Tone i hope they can get on top of it as something like that can be so frustrating and a pain. Yes I must admit that I was so glad Spain won the World Cup, they were an example throughout the tournament, the other team were simply outplayed and reacted (suprise, surprise) with ungentlemany conduct and violence. @Chris hope you have a great day with your dad and family members as you did Saturday. Nothing beats family time. I do hope that @The Anti-Clough is OK, please let us know if you are contacted @Chris Everywhere looks so bland, The sun has bleached all the land. Looks too much like last seasons shirt for me at a glance. I have to agree with @StarkMallard the design is a little wanting, next we'll be wearing all black with hardly any white. Come on Puma let's have some historic thoughts in future designs please.

Thank you @Piethagoram for the pictures once again, I have always wondered what the way posts indicated. This marker is on the Camino de Santiago route that starts in Hirtshals, Denmark. Hirtshals is one of the northern starting points for pilgrims travelling through Denmark and Germany before eventually reaching Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. It is right what is said, you learn something new every day and that is a bonus. Thank you also @Fan of Big Tone for your contribution to photo of the Year. Mother and cygnets enjoying calm waters, how wonderful nature is at times. So sad the father didn't make it, I'm sure he would be proud of them all. Rather a dull start to the day today and much cooler, I have completed my chores down at the stables and had a lovely walk back home. Just bitting and bobbing for me today, might run the mower over the grass (what's left of it) and tidy everywhere up, then prepare for the game this evening 🤔 Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Sorry @Fan of Big Tone there is little chance of rain for the foreseeable future. On the fire front, it's an absolute nightmare for Firefighters at the moment as irresponsible people are not thinking when discarding cigarette butt's or portable bar b ques and glass bottles these items are easily disposed of if a small amount of thought is used. These needless fires use up resources and leave very little if a serious incident occurs, so please THINK 🤔 Well done again @Chris for your endless hard work and enthusiasm, you are a shining example to us all. I hope you can keep Super under control as we don't want to see Forest fans running scared 😂

As a Notts fan, I am not too worried by a 2-0 defeat to Viborg. Viborg are a strong Danish top-flight side and are further along in their pre-season preparations. The game was goalless at half-time before Dorian Junior scored twice in the second half. A few things I'd take from it: The result is secondary. Pre-season is about fitness, building partnerships and giving players minutes. The first half was encouraging. Holding a good Superliga team to 0-0 suggests we were well organised. The second half showed where work is needed. Fitness levels, concentration and squad depth often get exposed after the break in these games. Martin will probably be more interested in whether his style of play is taking shape than the scoreline itself. If the team creates chances and looks more cohesive with each friendly, that's a better sign than winning every pre-season match. Looking forward to Tuesday now.

Sunsoaked good morning to everyone. This morning I have been treated to a stunning vision that has seemed to have dissappeared over the last few years, but now looks to be in abundance. How beautiful is that, made my day for sure. Take care everyone of yourselves, loved ones and anybody who is in need. 👍♥️

I look at it this way Positives At 25, he's entering what should be his prime years. He's a big, physical striker who gives the team a different option to play into. He presses, competes well aerially, and can bring others into the game. If Martin Paterson wants more variety in attack in League One, he fits that profile. Concerns His recent goalscoring record is modest. Last season he scored just one goal across his time with Dundee and on loan at Harrogate Town. He isn't the sort of signing that immediately makes you think "20-goal striker." My feeling is that this is a low-risk squad signing rather than the main striker Notts will rely on. If he rediscovers the form he showed at Barrow, he could become a useful asset, but if Notts are aiming to stay comfortably in League One, I'd still expect them to bring in another forward with a stronger scoring record.

Plus if you know anyone that is vulnerable or has a disability and if you can, make sure they are ok, and also if help is needed be aware and offer help. Today i have placed our little man into a shaded paddock with plenty of water and hay to keep him going. I hope that he appreciates it and I know this will keep him cool.

I have to agree with you @Robbie something special happened last night. The whole England team, Manager and Staff deserve the highest accolade we can bestow upon them. They have done our country proud 👏 Can't believe @Fan of Big Tone you didn't watch it live and absolutely soak up the atmosphere with us all who did. Mrs P and myself, plus number 2 Son revelled in the battle that became England's last stand with 10 men, and did we stand proud as the minutes passed by, we sure did, even winning a penalty which made us comfortable for a few minutes more. Then their farce of a penalty appeal and reward made it squeaky bum time, supposedly for 11 minutes over the 90. The referee then even went over the time (on purpose I think) to keep the tension. As it is said everything comes to those who wait. ⚽️🥳🤠🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Hiya @Fan of Big Tone i hope that you successfully completed the park run and can still walk afterwards 😀 I'll be performing my first couch to front door and back (on several occasions) during the England match later tonight, especially when we score. The bet is that my movement map will show at least two different positions 🤔 All we have to do now is return our two youngest grandchildren to mum and dad, as we've had them for the weekend. Need more than 40 winks to prepare for another all nighter with the football. Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Mellon, 22, has had productive loan spells with clubs including Morecambe, Dundee and Oldham Athletic. He's a quick, hard-working centre-forward who likes to run in behind defences, and many see him as a player with room to develop further. So probably one for the future if we sign him. The move is being discussed by journalists and supporters, but it remains at the negotiation stage, from what I've seen. If we do complete the signing, he would add pace and competition up front, particularly if the Notts are looking to strengthen for life in League One.

The transfer comes after two seasons at Millwall, where he has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter in the Championship. Although he showed flashes of quality, he scored only five league goals during his time there. For Langstaff, the move to Salford is a chance to return to the level where he was so prolific. You'll remember his remarkable spell with us at County, when he fired us to promotion from the National League and then won the EFL League Two Golden Boot. Salford are aiming for promotion, and Langstaff has said that ambition was a major reason for joining the club. This move is likely to be of interest to our supporters. A lot of fans have expressed that they're pleased to see him back in League Two, where many believe he can rediscover the goalscoring form that made him such a fan favourite. Good luck to him, I hope he resurrects his career and becomes as prolific as before. 👍⚽️

I think the controversy is whether that is the right application of the technology. Many supporters, players and former referees argue that: If no one can see the contact in real time or on normal replays, it feels harsh for a goal to be overturned. The delay while technology checks microscopic touches takes away the spontaneity of scoring. Fans celebrate, only to have the moment erased over something that appears insignificant. On the other hand, those who support the current system argue: The laws don't distinguish between a large touch and a tiny one—a touch is a touch. Technology should apply the rules consistently rather than relying on subjective judgement. Without these tools, there would be just as much controversy over missed infringements. The bigger question may not be the technology itself, but the laws. Football has already changed its handball and offside interpretations several times in response to VAR. It's reasonable to ask whether the game should introduce a threshold for certain decisions or accept that some contacts are too trivial to overturn an on-field decision. For me, football has to strike a balance between accuracy and spectacle. Most fans accept using technology to correct clear mistakes. What many struggle with are decisions based on millimetres or imperceptible touches that no one in the stadium—even the referee—could realistically detect without advanced sensors. That's why incidents like this provoke such strong reactions: they raise the question of whether the game is becoming technically correct but emotionally unsatisfying. Let us all retreat back to the days when referees weren't wired up and Linesmen/Women used their eyesight and Flags, with common sense prevailing.

Good morning one and all. @Fan of Big Tone looks like you have a busy day ahead my friend. The thing is you are supposed to get plenty of sleep before taking on a plethora of tasks 😂😴 I hope you can stay awake long enough to fulfill your list of things needed doing. This little chap was supervising me carrying out my paddock duties this morning. No doubt upon the request of Mrs P 😉 I've called him Roger after my uncle, who i had coffee with yesterday. My chin is on the ground at the moment as I went (for the second time) yesterday to represent our estate residents at a Council Planning meeting, hoping to postpone the building of 133 new homes as an addition to our 160. The whole plot when permission was granted was for only 190 and now it will be 293 when finished. I now realise that Councillors do not listen and just pay lip service to give each one of us our precious 3 minutes of time to object, then go off at a tangent of their own. 🙁 Sad, sad day when greed comes to the forefront before safety and traffic accumulation consideration.

I certainly agree @Robbie this could be the year of the underdog. The world rankings are being blown apart, but i think that the standard of football has improved over the years and so called minnows have players that ply their trade in the big leagues world-wide therefore improving the team standard and stature. Coaches are becoming more wiley and concentrate on improving strengths, and therefore playing to them, typical example, the use of the low block and being patient, waiting for dead ball situations to give them the impact required. Ecuador did this to beat Germany, also Ghana tried the same against England but only got the draw. Although these methods are being utilised on a regular basis they are making the beautiful game not so beautiful, bring back the old ways of playing attractive skillful football to entertain and that is when the best team wins, also at the same time as improving an individuals game. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 👍 🤠

Morning all, I hope that every one is all tickety boo. Completed with Mrs P another match marathon last night, pulling in Brazil v Japan, then Germany v Paraguay followed by Netherlands v Morocco and to top it all exactly 2 hours 28 minutes worth of sleep afterwards😴 until the dreaded Binmen arrived closely followed by a very loud drain cleaning tanker. Then up, off to the horses, duty done and home for a very nice cup of tea 🍵 👌 Whatever you are doing, wherever you are going, keep smiling 🤠
