Reminds me of being in a similar position when taking my Fire Service promotion exams, a little hard study and help from workmates pulled me through, didn't have much left on my fingernails though, and that was only the written part. Back in the day you had to pass a practical assessment also, marrying the two up for a pass and possible promotion. 🥴 Sometimes you have to be thrown in at the deep end @Fan of Big Tone to enable understanding of these new types of vehicle. I had a similar experience with a Toyota Yaris but with no assistance, so 10 minutes of self teaching and Mrs P chewing at my ears and we were off, still don't know the proper way to drive one. 🤔 🚘 Not my cup of tea I'm afraid, I'll stick with my Discovery and automatic gears.

@Fan of Big Tone Tracey says thanks for the birthday wishes, she had a great day. Been to the Spa today thinking that a head, neck and shoulder massage would give me a little respite from the headaches, WRONG, still as annoying as ever. Never mind worth a try. Mrs P loved her full body job and thinks she might try it again. Must admit the facilities are first class and probably need revisiting. Back to the suffering game of horizontal hovering under the sun. 🤠

Sadly once again we failed to make any inroads when on top. Toothless up front and as for Longelo, he wouldn't set foot on the pitch for me ever again. To stand and watch while Nesbit waved goodbye and created their second is unforgivable. Much work needed during the international break me thinks.

Morning one and all from a sun drenched Lanzarote 🌞 Nice one @Piethagoram not my tipple, but it's the thought that counts. 🤔 We are south of Arrecife, just below Puerto del Carmen at a small place called Puerto Calero. The hotel is called Costa Calero. Very nice place for families, young people, and the older generation. A beautiful Marina sits to the south of us, where dad Moors his Yatch. I think the new deal through to summer 2029 is a significant statement from the Reedtz brothers. Paterson has won 28 of his 61 matches since taking over in June 2025 and, importantly, delivered promotion back to League One at the first attempt through the play-offs. Notts have also made a steady start to life back in League One. My view is that the length of the contract is less about saying "everything is perfect" and more about giving Paterson and the football department stability. It also protects Notts if his reputation continues to grow and other clubs start looking at him. The timing is interesting too—coming just after the Bradford defeat, rather than waiting for a long winning run. That suggests the owners' decision is based on their assessment of his overall work rather than one or two results. And knowing how the Notts owners tend to operate, I wouldn't read the contract as meaning they will tolerate poor results indefinitely. It is more likely to be a vote of confidence in the long-term project. The really interesting question for me now is: where do the owners and Paterson think Notts County can realistically get to over the next three years? That's where this contract becomes particularly significant.

I thought Jacob Bedeau was one of our steadier performers defensively and looked composed despite Bradford putting us under pressure. Bedeau had a really solid game — strong defensively and one of the few County players who looked consistently composed. I must admit Finneran came a close second, making himself available, with the skill set of a seasoned pro and the nous to put things into practice, great game and a positive future.

This is a really interesting one. Notts County v Bradford City at Meadow Lane tomorrow has the makings of a very close game. My gut feeling is Notts can win it, but I wouldn't expect an easy afternoon. Bradford are the sort of side who can make it physical and frustrate us. My prediction: same as you @Robbie Notts County 2–1 Bradford City. And knowing County, I wouldn't be surprised if they make us sweat right to the final whistle! 😄 COYP

Morning everyone and especially you @Fan of Big Tone my thoughts and prayers are with you today and it hope everything goes as well as it can. Today is the 25th anniversary of 9/11 where the twin towers in New York were destroyed and nearly 3000 people lost their lives. 343 members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) died on 11 September 2001 while responding to the World Trade Center attacks. One small distinction is worth making: the 343 figure is FDNY members, and the detailed breakdown recorded at the time was 341 firefighters and 2 FDNY paramedics. There were also 71 police officers and 8 private EMS personnel/paramedics among those killed at the World Trade Center. Sadly, the death toll for firefighters and other responders continued to rise in the years afterwards because of cancers and other illnesses linked to exposure at Ground Zero. The FDNY now reports that more than 400 members have subsequently died from World Trade Center-related illnesses. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families and friends on this sad day of commemoration. 🙏

Had a great break @Fan of Big Tone thanks, I would definitely recommend it, especially if you haven't yet tried Glamping. Personally my favourite time would be during the summer, with long sunny days to do with as you please. Another idea would be to use it as a base for exploring our beautiful countryside and the history of that area, if you're in to that sort of thing. I am hoping that due to Chase pursuing his goal to be as good a Motorcross rider as possible (New bike for his birthday) and the group being very grounded, all will be good, One can only hope 😀

Up and off back home us weary traveller's, sad day but all good things must come to an end sometimes. Plenty of memories made and an adventure that will be repeated in the future. Roads not too busy and a crafty breakfast taken at Blyth services on the way back, mmm very nice. Home and all unpacked, time for a cup of tea and feet up for 10. Big day tomorrow as it is our grandson Chaces birthday 🎂 oh to be 11 again, i wish 🤔 the bonus being a nice meal out in the evening 😊 happy days.

Morning from Glamping land, where the weather is a little overcast but warm. Glad to hear that you had a nice biriani @Fan of Big Tone not so sure about the suggestion from Fred about the Norwegian Fjords, a little cool for my liking. Still everyone to their own. Day 2 of our Glamping adventures has brought us to Pocklington and it seems a lovely little town. We now head for a seaside town well visited as a child and while growing up. Apparently Queen Victoria visited here, and it looks from the Church clock, time has stood still. Ready to fire says the seagull as the Pirate Ship approaches. 🤠☠️

Another impressive performance by Ness, he commanded every defensive area and even had a go at wingback. What a fantastic effort and well worthy of MOM, I think he's improving every match and carrying on where he left off last season. Darius Lipsiuc also shone especially in the second half, his ability to know where and which way the attacker was going seemed telepathic, great game.

Thank you @Fan of Big Tone I'm sure we will. I suppose we could be classed as cheating as we are in a pod, with double bed, toilet and cooking facilities. Even has heating, so I bet we will have a mini heatwave from Sunday. 🌞 Put me on your food delivery round for some of Mrs T's chicken biriani please 🙏 you can't beat a good biriani.🥘🍲 about 19:00 will do. 🤠👍
