Around 125 firefighters are battling a huge blaze on an industrial estate in north London. The fire at a mixed waste facility in Neasden is close to Wembley Stadium and sent a huge plume of smoke billowing across the sky. The fire has caused the closure of the entire Metropolitan line on the Tube and the part suspension of the Jubilee line. Rail services to and from London Marylebone station are also being delayed or cancelled due to train lines to Aylesbury being blocked. My thoughts and prayers go out to the 125 + Firefighters tackling this nightmare of a blaze. They run in when everyone else is running out from danger, may God bless them all. ❤️ This is very close to Wembley Stadium, I hope nothing is on there this evening.

What a beautiful day today, out on our adventures once again. Looks like we are in disneyland, or could it be the Carribean? Which ever the sun has shone all day here and thankfully so. 🌞

Good to hear you sorted the better price for your car, sometimes it is worth challenging these things when a large amount is expected to leave your bank account. Mrs P is my special person for challenging these things and normally comes out on top. Hope things go to plan. Dolly Parton was not only a great singer but a fantastic person also. She was one of those rare entertainers who became much bigger than her music. She was a singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist. Long may her memories last in our minds, and songs tickle our ears forever.

Nice one @theAnticlough that is a good treck. Definitely a long way when you need the loo. 🤣 Today's adventure took us to Skeg Vagas where we had a lovely lunch of fish, chips and mushy peas. Absolutely awesome and a must do, when in the seaside area. Mrs P also wanted a runner (carpet, not Mo Farrar) for our kitchen, so searching was carried out and success was 50/50 as she found one, but not available till Thursday, meaning another trip. 🤔 On our return journey we thought that Farmer Brown's Farm required a visit for a cuppa and the purchase of fresh milk, homemade marmalade plus biscuits. We also searched the whole establishment but there was no sign of Mrs Brown, or any of her boys. Unbelievable 🤠🐮🐄🐖🐽🐑🐎 Have a great day one and all. 👍

Today my thoughts go out to you @Fan of Big Tone keep strong my friend, and with you @Chris stay positive my friend and don't let these issues get you and change your fantastic attitude and hard work. Today's adventure on the East Coast has led us to :- Donna Nook, a place i had never heard of. The unfortunate thing is that there was no organised range work for the RAF and US Airforce, or we were not there at the right time. 🤔 The wonderful walk we had and the beautiful flora and fauna, coupled with the odd sighting of local wildlife more than made up for it. Three satisfied customers happily mad their way back to our lodge. Happy days 😀

Many happy returns of the day @Robbie hope your time today is peppered with lovely gifts, food and the odd celebration drinks. I have to wait until May next year, although I'm not wishing my life away. The morning here in Mablethorpe has opened up with beautiful sunshine 🌞 and warmth. Just been a lovely walk with our two dogs Marty and Scooby around the site, a little fresh and overcast but sun promised to appear soon. 🙏 Time for breakfast now and Big decisions on what lies ahead as regards our first day adventures 🤔 taking the important 12:30 kick off into consideration and manoeuvring everything else to suit. Luton are rightly favourites. They started the season with a remarkable 4–3 comeback win at Reading, scoring three times in the second half after being 3–1 down. They also finished last season strongly and are being tipped as one of the main promotion contenders. But there are some reasons for optimism: We held Leicester to 1–1, and deserved the point. Realistically we should really have won. Luton showed against Reading that they can be vulnerable defensively — conceding three goals in the first half is hardly a sign of an impregnable side. Notts now know they can compete at this level. That Leicester result should give us plenty of confidence. And with our pace and attacking threat, I wouldn't be surprised if Notts cause Luton problems on the break. The big danger is Kenilworth Road. Luton are aggressive at home, and if Notts get pinned back for long periods, it could become a very difficult afternoon. My prediction 2 - 2

Morning everyone, a sunny and warm start to our Mablethorpe trip, and we're all ready to go 🥳👍🐶🐶 We are very fortunate that our son's girlfriends dad own the lodge and generously charges us, not a bean, so kind. So bags packed, dogs not fed (they get travel sick) and just waiting for the old man (Mrs P's dad) and we are once again off on another adventure. Bearing in mind the kick off time at Luton. COYP. That is a welcome sight for us as the grass is starting to turn back green and our horses don't need hay as a substitute for much longer 👍 Also a bonus for Firefighters, farmers and water companies, although it will take alot more rain to top up reservoirs. Today is preparation day for our trip to Mablethorpe tomorrow with the dogs and Mrs P's father in tow for a week 😀 happy days. Hopefully a nice relaxing week for Mrs P away from work. @Piethagoram I really resonate with your thought of the day, thank you for highlighting the way our thoughts and memories instinctively cast to catch something that returns us to childhood days, the familiar smells of Mum cooking and baking, the aroma as you enter your favourite sweet shop, the smoke and steam mix as a Train passes under the bridge you are sitting on, all definitive of a wonderful childhood. John Betjeman's idea that childhood is remembered through “sounds and smells and sights” has stayed with me. Because I think that's the secret of nostalgia. You don't necessarily miss the house. You miss the smell of your mum's cooking. You don't necessarily miss the street. You miss the sound of your mates shouting your name. You don't necessarily miss being young. You miss the people who were there when you were young. And sometimes, perhaps most painfully of all, you miss people who are no longer here to remember it with you. Have a lovely day, one and all.

Thank you very much @StarkMallard I am sure you will definitely enjoy the land of scones and sausage rolls without the increase in waist size, get stuck in my friend. Thinking of your position regarding being next to the woods, if branches overhang get rid, make sure that underneath the trees are clear of fallen debris such as pine needles, leafs and twigs, especially if they are dry. Have buckets of water and a good hosepipe at the ready to cool and extiguish minor fires. Keep anything flammable away from the edge of the wood. Lovely meal consumed on our Anniversary at Miller and Carter, great food and nice friendly staff. Lovely jubbly. 🤠

A lovely morning after a great weekend, what with a magnificent performance by our boys on Saturday (deserved and should of won) and Ladies Day at Southwell Races yesterday (came away winning) the weekend has flown by to today, our 19th wedding anniversary which will be celebrated this evening with a visit to Mrs P's favourite restaurant Miller and Carter, where I hope she will enjoy her much loved Steak. I don't know about anyone else, but we have our boiler serviced every year as a pre requisite to not only the colder months, but to keep up the continuous warranty on it. Tomorrow’s League One opener at Meadow Lane, I’m actually more optimistic about Notts than I was a few weeks ago. Leicester are obviously the bigger club and have a squad that, on paper, should be challenging for promotion. But Notts have already shown they can compete at this level by taking Burnley to penalties in the Carabao Cup. Leicester beat Northampton 1–0 in their cup tie. The bookmakers and pundits generally lean Leicester, but there is one prediction that caught my eye: William Hill are actually tipping Notts to win 3–1. My own prediction? Notts County 2–1 Leicester City I can see Leicester having plenty of possession, but Meadow Lane could be absolutely bouncing, and I think Notts can cause them problems with pace and the way Martin sets the side up. And there's an interesting psychological angle: Leicester will be expected to win. Notts have nothing to lose. That's exactly the sort of fixture where Meadow Lane can make a difference. COYP ⚽️🤠

What a hot day to be busy on, horses, shopping for their food as well as ours. Trying to stay on top of my other chores by attempting to jet wash the decking, looking after the birds by putting up a drinking station and food station after the building company wanting to build at the side of us removed trees and hedgerow so the birds couldn't nest. The only thing happening is getting the washing out and it drying, then more out and it drying and so on and so on. Looking forward to seeing the partial eclipse this evening in the midshires. I must admit my head was a shed last week and concentrating to write was out the window. Unfortunately I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for my next medication as it has only just been passed by NICE. The pains I get are now head, neck and shoulders, increasing in intensity and all past injections, medication and manipulation have not even touched it. Hopefully the new injections will help. @Fan of Big Tone i hope all goes well with your car and I'm sorry for not posting last week. Today Mrs P and I were heading out with our two granddaughters into Lincolnshire looking for a Farm Park plus animals, and guess where we ended up ..... Skegness, so the Seal Sanctuary had a visit, closely followed by the beach and then the funfair, all in all a busy old day. Varifocals @StarkMallard are absolutely brilliant for myself but it took me a couple of weeks to get used to them. You will find that when doing everyday tasks such as reading and using your phone come second nature, just have faith, but be careful when climbing and descending stairs, as if you get it wrong there is no return 😖

I must admit that I'm quite partial to an IPA called Neck Oil. Neck Oil is brewed by Beavertown Brewery, which was founded in 2011 by Logan Plant—the son of Robert Plant. Logan started brewing in the kitchen of his barbecue restaurant in North London before the brewery grew into one of the UK's best-known craft beer brands. A nice bit of trivia: the name "Neck Oil" came from Logan Plant remembering his grandfather saying he was "off down the pub to oil his neck"—an old expression for going for a pint. Neck Oil is generally considered a very good session IPA, especially if you're looking for something easy-drinking rather than intensely hoppy. I have also tried several other IPA's and found them rather tasty and satisfying. My other favourite is Guinness which I agree is a Marmite thing, you either like it or you don't, no middle ground. 🤠

Totally agree with @McPie Jack Evans stood out as well for me, and i thought Belshaw was once again gave a solid performance. Martin Patterson made it clear in his post match interview that we are light in areas that matter and coupled with the injury list doesn't bode well for the beginning of the season never mind Burnley in the Carabou Cup. Looks to me like something needs to be done asap or suffer the consequences.

Pre-season results are always worth taking with a pinch of salt, but it's encouraging to hear we played well. For me, the biggest positives are fitness, building partnerships, and seeing how the manager wants us to play. If we're becoming flexible enough to change formations depending on the opposition, that's a good sign—it shows we're not going to be one-dimensional this season. I'm not a huge fan of behind-closed-doors friendlies either, as they're a missed opportunity for supporters to see the team, but if they help the club assess trialists and prepare properly, I understand why they're used. A 2–1 away win at West Brom is still a confidence boost, even if the real test starts when the league season kicks off.
