January Transfer Rumours

Featured Replies

Has anyone heard of any rumours, either players in or out? I’m slightly out of the loop as I’m not involved in any of the social media groups.

Seeing other teams in our league already getting a few in early doors.

Not expecting Notts to be bringing loads in- maybe 2-3, but also depends on any outgoings

All we've seen in the first few days of the transfer window for Notts is loan defender Aljofree going back to Man U.

Chesterfield have already signed three players so they have shown lots of intent early doors of the window.

The trouble with rumours is just that, they are rumours, I don’t pay them any heed until I hear something official, that way I’m not disappointed.

Hopefully we will hear some positive news soon.

I mean its gonna be a stop gap and is likely to instill a confidence in the defence that he can catch a cross.

I think it's a win win really. If Notts get Belshaw, he's likely number 1 until we get a new keeper if we go up - kind of how Slocombe panned out.

If Notts get a loan, say the Palace lad Goodman, we'll have a keeper who got Wimbledon promoted for the latter half of the season and significantly increases our chances of doing the same.

I would like to see this official before commentating & giving any opinion on this rumour about acquiring a Harrogate goalie.

There’s more likely to be something in a rumour when actual journalists are involved, that said it’s one of those that is easy to make up as he is a Notts fan! It’s felt like a move that could happen at some point, I just can’t help but think we would be 3 or 4 seasons too late.

I know signing a goalkeeper in January isn’t ideal but I think I’d rather have a younger keeper in on loan to get us through to the summer. There were lots of good young keepers on loan in League 2 last year, Owen Goodman, Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Tommy Simkin, Matty Young, Filip Marschall… They are out there.

Also I'd imagine Barry Cotter is going back to Barnsley, he's not been involved at all for months now.

There's always a risk that a parent club will recall a loan player. Notts did the same with Jack Hinchy just a few weeks ago.

Signing loan players is a risk. I can remember last season Walsall lost a loan player last season that turned out affecting their promotion hopes.

I do hope that we are going to get some positive news soon on a good acquisition that will strengthen the Notts squad.

That is a really strange article on Tyrese Hall, how is a 20 year old who's getting to grips with League 2 suddenly going to be Premier League level? If he was close to getting in the first-team at Spurs there's no way he'd have been loaned to us, in League 2, in the first place!

Guardian reporting we're gonna be getting Belshaw soon which I'm happy with.

I've seen the article about this, it's just a column recapping transfer rumours, nothing to get excited about. Belshaw is an obvious rumour as he's a Notts fan, would improve the team and would probably be affordable too. But we don't tend to go for obvious signings. I have a horrible feeling we'll end up with a young Premier League loanee in goal, which can be very hit and miss.

As for Hall, he can be fantastic on his day but is very inconsistent. He hasn't delivered a stand-out performance in a while now. It would be a shame to lose a potentially very good player but not devastating. But as @menzinho says, what would they want with him in the PL anyway?

Crazy article, whoever penned that should be embarrassed with themselves

Surely we are not going to sign Harrogates back up Goalkeeper?????

He's their number one, the guy playing today has played 3 games this season.

It's more likely he's not playing because he's already singing for us but waiting on the club to get a replacement in.

Here's a couple more rumours that I've heard/read. One is that Gordon could potentially go back to Crawley. I wouldn't be that surprised considering they've already signed former players like Orsi and Lolos, it's like their strategy is now to just get all their players who got them promoted back.

Traore to be loaned out to the League of Ireland and Sligo Rovers is the team he could join. He's not getting a look in here so it would make sense.

Jalal Abdullai from Elfsborg is doing the rounds.

Farfetched imo, also quite a similar player to Jatta - who's been mentioned quite a bit about going to Bradford.

Edited by piedestrian

I don't see how Bradford could afford Jatta, given that we supposedly turned down offers for £750,000 before. Unless they are going all in on getting promoted, because the money you'd then get from being in the Championship would eventually cover it.
