Colin Lee interested in Plymouth Argyle manager job

Former Wolves and Walsall boss Colin Lee says he would be interested in the vacant Plymouth Argyle manager's job.

Lee, 56, is currently first team coach at Notts County and has strong links to Devon having previously played for and managed Torquay United.

"If Plymouth Argyle want to talk to me they will have to go through Notts County as I am contracted to them," Lee told BBC South West Sport.

"I'm not going to lie, it would be something I would be interested in."

Devon-born Lee has experience of keeping sides in trouble up in their division, having taken over at Walsall in January 2002 when they were in the relegation places of the old First Division.

He also helped Torquay to stave off relegation from the Football League in 2007 when he was appointed as director of football alongside Keith Curle, who he now assists at County.

Argyle are two points away from the bottom of League Two and sacked manager Carl Fletcher on New Year's Day after losing 2-1 at fellow strugglers Bristol Rovers.

"It's a job that I've experienced before, I've been able to help teams in this situation before and my CV would show that.

"I took over at Walsall when they were adrift at the bottom and we stayed up and we did the same thing the following year.

"I saved Torquay in the last 10 games and I still get texts form the lads that did that.

"You've got to be able to know what you're doing when you go in to give the club the best chance.

"I keep a close eye on all the Devon teams and none of them are massively wealthy so they're not going to have hundred of thousands of pounds to spend.

"But you've got to have a plan and if you go in with a clear plan of what you're doing then you've got every chance."

I don't see this is any negative light, why would it?

Colin Lee as a wealth of experience and probably misses being a number one, it could also be miss reported making it unfounded. I have read that people think he's trying to ditch us, he's showing a lack of respect but this is common in football. I personally think it's unlikely he would be offered the position despite his footballing knowledge. If he was, then I would wish him look. It may give us chance to replace his experience with someone else who may be able to bring other positive aspects. This will be something I'll be keeping an eye on personally, I think coaches are often linked with roles but hardly reported on. (Unless they're a already in a high reputation role or a popular sporting figure)

the articles are shown really nicely now, i like how you can keep the reader here!

staff move on, no big deal. anyone who works in a position in which they don't have ambition, isn't worthy of their place. thats the way i see it! i think it shows ambition and desire, not that he wants to escape or anything LOL

Like everyone, especially in that type of job. Everyone has ambition and he will naturally want a higher job but i'm sure hes not going to leave quickly if at all, it could just be rumours.
