Chairman reserves special praise for popular goalkeeper...

Notts County Chairman Ray Trew has praised the attitude and commitment of goalkeeper Roy Carroll, after the custodian returned from international duty with Northern Ireland to play for the club in the 1-0 victory at Coventry City on Saturday.

Carroll, who joined the club on a free transfer this summer, has proved a revelation for Notts, putting in some eye-catching performances and establishing himself as a firm fans’ favourite for his passion and commitment.

However, rarely has that been more evident that when the 37-year-old turned out for Notts on Saturday, putting in another superb display, just hours after representing his country in a UEFA European Championship qualifying match away to Romania on Friday night.

The big keeper’s efforts have not gone unnoticed amongst the Notts hierarchy, with Chairman Ray Trew saying of Carroll: "I can’t praise Roy highly enough today, what he did went well above the call of duty, but epitomised everything that is right about Notts County at the moment.

Comments about some of the players who have left have been cropping up, some actually made me laugh and the fans are right. I bet they're wishing they gave us more, so of the names did but left at a time when they perhaps should have embraced the change. That said, there's no looking back on that. I am sure that Shaun Derry doesn't give them a second thought because he's got a good crop of lads.

He's doing his almost, as are they.

Fantastic right now, even with the odd wobble/blip me continue to define a piece of our history.

Credit to Mr Trew for taking the time to give his praise, people are quick to point the finger and this includes the media but he acknowledges things. Not many would have done this, so to praise the existing squad and Roy Carroll is a sign of the time.

Praise where it is due is nice to read and hear.

Perhaps a moment to publicly express delight for Derry would have been an added nice tough? After all, it is him who is building this club and moving us forward. Roy did a great deed today.

its a nice tough, right now we are getting results and grinding out performances.

hope we can go into our next home game with a bit of appreciation for what the squad did today, esp roy who probably should have rested. i also hope hes okay and that no knocks come from having continued to play.

Great thing Roy did for our beloved Notts County eh! Great set of lads in the dressing room this season, unlike the too many shirkers we had last season! COYP! Well Done to all concerned! Amazing what can be done when everyone pulls together on the same side.

And well done to Mr Trew too for his acknowledement for what Roy done.
