Bizarre substitutions

I can't think of a more bizarre substitution than the one I saw last night. The setting:

Western League Division 1 - Wellington AFC vs. Portishead Town, 3rd bottom vs. bottom - so crucial game.

Half time 3-0 to Wellington.

Then at half time, Portishead took off their keeper (who was not injured) and put their centre forward in goal, and brought on a full back to play at centre forward. The centre forward had an excellent second half in goal, but Portishead were even more inept in attack than they had been in the first half. Final score 4-0.

Why???

Trying to confuse the opposition but were confused themselves by the sound of it.

Sounds like they have just found a new first choice keeper then

Perhaps they were resting the keeper knowing that they were going to lose anyway, maybe they had a big league game coming up. Then again perhaps the manager is plain daft.

Perhaps their manager thought the striker in goal could score a couple. :P

Maybe they played rush goalie

Do you know of any explanation anywhere by the manager @ivansneck?

No I don't, everyone was bemused that I talked to.

Myth solved!

The manager's explained the reasoning behind the substitutions.

Just a case of Desperados! (Read It - It is cheesy)

;) LOL

Maybe the manager was a bit mardy by the break, wanted to humiliate the keeper and felt he had nothing to lose anyway?

Or maybe he'd been taking tips from Stuart Pearce?
