Interesting game happening right now, Coventry City vs Swindon Town. If Swindon win they go back to the top of the league, which would be smashing for them and our very own PoN resident.

@medievalmickey I see your beating Coventry 2-0 at the moment.

Double goals by Williams!! Hattrick? Let's hope so.

coventry are just shocking this season, they made the mistake by selling assets. should always be comfortable for a side like swindon.

Obika scored a third Joe.

Good result this for swindon it keeps them up there. Some unhappy sky blues fans after tonight, how long will their manager last?

For me this was more about knocking their neighbours off top spot, rightly so...

What do you have to say @medievalmickey?What do you think of Bristol City/your promotion hopes?

Good evening Super Ram.

I would never discount Bristol City because they have a good team, manager, rich chairman who is a fan and a budget which I believe is more than four times larger than ours. Their fanbase is larger and they would generally be expected to be the most successful local club.

I am delighted by our performance this season: supporters generally thought it would be a season of struggle.

Our chairman Lee Power has been a total revelation and is a football man through and through. He works seamlessly with manager Mark Cooper and the rest of a strong management team.

Paolo DiCanio bought the League 2 title and nearly bankrupted the club. A group bought the club and things became even worse and straits were very dire. Lee Power took over and had to reduce the budget from more than £5 million to £1.8 million.

Here comes the clever bit. He decided to go with youth for financial reasons but chose also to change the style of play to free flowing, quick passing, take your time but attack with flair etc.  ... in fact try to play total football as best you can. He used his considerable contacts to obtain loanees from Tottenham initially then Southampton, Liverpool, Norwich and latterly Chelsea. He has also drawn talent from non league and these players have generally become squad regulars. All players that join are selected on their potential to fit into the Swindon Style and the team spirit is as good as it gets.

It was felt that a young squad would be too lightweight but this has not proved the case. I recall another post on this site after we won at Meadow Lane which said we (disappointingly) did the nasty things well which would not be expected from an inexperienced unit.
