In Liverpool they are searching for the stadium, 30,000 that used to be the home of Liverpool Caledonians FC...

I wonder how many other sides have come and gone, and the history is totally lost.... This appeared to be a side of some stature too

Interesting stuff. Lots of clubs founded back then simply fell by the wayside, a number after failing to get into the League or after relegation out of it.

I'm quite interested in the early days of football, and in particular in Notts Rangers. This was one of many Nottingham teams in the Victorian era, but they also played on the site of Meadow Lane some years before we did.

Notts Rangers, founded 1868?-Played in FA cup 1885/6,losing 3- 0 at Notts..Drew 3 -3  at  Notts but lost return 5-0 in 1886/7.Founder members of The Midland League 1889/90 but expelled for not fulfilling fixtures.Disolved 1890.They even had a left half called Charlie Shelton who played once for England in 1888.He went on to play for Notts.

You learn something new every day, I read this a few days a go but didn't know what to say.

@liampie I don't believe they did, I think we moved straight from the Park to Meadow Lane. I don't recall ever reading that we played elsewhere apart from the cricket ground, could you just see us there and them wanting us off like we did the rugby club?
