Stevenage Sack Smith

Another league one manager gone. One of the favourites is Graham Westly tipped to go back and take over again after his sacking from Preston.

Does it really work when a manager goes back?

Should we look at taking any of our previous managers back?

Who could do a good job for us?

It depends on the manager I guess, some clubs just hope to rekindle the lost spark but for some teams and managers, well they're well suited. Example would Eddie Howe and Bournemouth who go together like 'p's and carrots'.. (I've been dying to insert a Forest Gump quote) lol

I'm surprised Smith has gone, he's been walking a fine line. It might others but their fans are keen for it.

Really, I don't know. I was talking to SadLad about missing MadDog but I think it's best we move on and find someone else. We seem to take people on with similar qualities and it's time for a compete different change. Just not Steve Evans...

Sadly this will be accepted as normal, really the game creates the issue. It would be easier if they created a fairer league, where money wasn't the most important thing because this causes rash decision. When I say 'fairer' leagues, I mean don't punish sides for being relegated and limit revenue or give excessive para-shoot payments but create a fairer system where the money is equally divided.

This would never happen, we'll this get worse though! There will be a time when someone gets 2 games into a season, sacked by a struggling team who'd rather replace then to build. I need to add this rant into the things I hate about football thread!

Smith axed? 14 games defeated is not good football.

I'm afraid I do not know who is availble, not enough to warrant a response or answer who should take the full time job. Chris is doing well, smashing for his first run but I would replace him with experience and someone who will back the fans. I would not bring anyone back, I think like relationships there's a period you need to move on from what previously happened. I wonder if Ray will be giving Craig another phone call? I for one do not.

Two managers I would bring back to the lane, both could do a good job for Notts in my opinion.

Warnock or Cotterill.

Neither of these are beyond the bounds of possibility, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see one of them in the home dugout next season.

After all going back for Billy Davies has worked for that team that shall not be mentioned.

Love him or loathe him Warnock would certainly raise the profile of Notts.

Sadly how long for? When Billy isn't given money, which I am sure will happen then they'll have a lover tiff and even he can't keep performing the miracles he has done already forever. I think Cotterill tactically would solve many of our issues but I would hope a clause in his contract would force him to buy out any years if he decided to do a runner or join which ever side he fancied the flutter of a brief cash. Portsmouth example, why?

Good call though Tony ;)

It's looking more and more like Chris K will get the job full time. I've got nothing against Chris and if he is given the job I hope it works out and would support him but I can't help but feel we need an experienced man at the helm.

Come on Ray Cotterill or Warnock would give the fans a boost and sell season tickets.

Hehe.. Sometimes the mobile skin hangs, I assume your using that right now ;) The data connection should filter on after a few minutes but don't worry. My dad likes Batemans, I dislike Beer. Enjoy it ;)

Who

Sorry ,put it down to my age,Steve. It should be Paul Sturrock at Southend.Apparantly they have a new manager  to be announced imminently but want him to come back and manage for one match -The  final that they are in.Strange!

Yes everyone I am quite partial to a pint of Batemans-and London Pride and Tanglefoot and.....well  the list goes on.

The Sturrock one is a strange one. Sack him, but let him lead the team out in the JPT final. Nice bit of sentiment. But surely the end should be the end.

If the Southend powers that be feel Sturrock isn't up to managing a league match how come they put him in charge for a final?I agree with you 2pies.
