Magpie Player beware

Featured Replies

Posted

I cancelled my MagpiePlayer subscription many months ago because I wasn't using it much and most of the content I could get elsewhere for free. However this morning I checked my bank account and found that £37.99 had been taken from the account.

I have emailed the media department but as yet have had no reply. So just be warned that if you do cancel MagpiePlayer make sure you cance it with your bank as well.

Not just MP... take responsibility for your own finances, when a policy or subscription ends... cancel the instruction with your bank.

If not... when you moan, do it while looking in the mirror... the individual is just as culpable as the company concerned.

I don't agree @PTID1862, I should have been able to cancel on line and expect it to be cancelled, why should I have to use the "belt and braces" method? The option was there to cancel my subscription and that is what I did so I in my opinion I am entitled to be annoyed if it didn't happen. There was no advice to cancel with my bank as well, it just said "if you want to cancel click here" or words to that affect.

Indeed.... but, business will almost always do this.... cash flow reasons...

The only way to protect yourself is to do it yourself... if the individual doesnt.. then they should take a certain amount of responsibility.

Sorry I have to disagree again @PTID1862 in this case there should be no onus on the customer. I've done lots of transactions like this and have never had to back it up by cancelling the direct debit with the bank.

To be fair to the company running MagpiePlayer they replied very quickly and said that they took charge after I had cancelled and said they would cancel in 2016.

I said I wanted an immediate refund and didn't want to wait till 2016, they then said they would issue a refund, I will watch with interest to see if it appears in my account.

The company who now provides MP are just as much of a farce as the last lot, the usual spiel with regards  to what causes the problem (it's always your fault) then when it doesn't solve anything they go quiet, the football league are a joke also, I contacted them and they said until a solution is found it isn't their problem!!!!!!

It should be cancelled if you contact the company taking the money, but unfortunately you have do also cancel it will the bank too nowadays. I cancelled my tv license when i moved years ago and thought that would be the end of it, but the next month they tried to take the money out of my account but there wasn't enough funds so the bank also tried to charge me. I finally got my money back but the tv license people was still insisting its in my place to cancel it and make sure they don't charge me again.

If you cancel a subscription, that should be the end of it. I hear stories like this, I've tried to promote the MP but its reached a point whereby I can see why people think it's a waste of time/money, which is a shame because the idea is brilliant.

I've heard of people being charged twice, who's responsible for that?

It's not the clubs fault, magpie player billing is controlled by a company called FL Interactive and in fairness to them they have now sorted my problem by sending a full refund back to my bank account, so although the money shouldn't have been taken in the first place I give them top marks for customer service in helping me to sort it out afterward and admitting it was a mistake on their part.
