Our last longest serving manager

Does anyone know who our last longest serving manager was?

A fan told me about this on Saturday and I thought it was pretty interesting, I know throughout my life as a fan - I haven't really seen a manager sustain themselves long as our manager. I thought this would be a worthy discussion!

Share your memories about the managers you think it could be for extra added nostalgia.

A field where dreams become reality.

I would imagine it's Sir Jimmy who had two stints with us 1969-1975 and 1977-1982.

i think he was at Sheff Utd in between if my memory serves me right.

Depends on what you call long-serving. After Sirrel, the only managers to have stayed in charge for over two seasons in total (92 matches) have been Neil Warnock, Sam Allardyce, Billy Deardon and Ian McParland. That's four out of our 23 permanent managers since then. McParland was the last to be given a whole season from beginning to end. Only another six were in charge for 46 games or more in total, leaving 13 out of 23 who managed less than a season.

Let's hope the next one bucks the trend.
