John Sheridan's Black and White Army

Well he's got to be up for a challenge to have taken the job with the current players, nothing really said from his press conference that we wouldn't usually expect other than we'll be aiming for promotion, however he has stated he will not be replacing Guy Branston but will bring in a chief scout - woah hang on things are actually looking up a proper experienced manager with a proper backroom staff, is this Notts County? 🤔

He will be adding players to squad - we all know we need that, this squad needs major surgery, John Sheridan knows how to build teams for this league so I trust him in performing the surgery.

John Sheridan's black and white army..

Hopefully the Trews will get us out of the embargo, pay the money we owe if they are sticking around and hopefully the decision to appoint and "back" Sheridan pays off and this time next year the mood will be party time..

Onwards and upwards, can't be as bad as last year, can it?

I doubt it will be plain sailing, it never is with Notts but I'm prepared for the bumpy ride - it would just be nice to avoid another rollercoaster of a season.

If Sheridan runs the team and football matters how he wants, hopefully it's enough for us to have a good season. COYP!

@notts-joe too true, a rollercoaster season is just an average season as a Notts County supporter and that's why we all go, lets just hope its a rollercoaster for the right reasons taking us high and keeping us there! We don't do things smoothly it's not the Notts County way haha! 😂😂

Looking forward to seeing the first steps in the transfer market, hope he is able to make a statement of intent with some strong signings. Coyp

i will be behind js but not parting with money until more news comes out. i want to feel i am contributing to something positive, not throwing money down a drain.

John Sheridan has a difficult job building on from last season, it will not be an easy take but he has my support.

There's no doubt that John Sheridan having the right team behind him will help, I'm impressed by Mark Crossley's comments also - he seems to be just as much for the challenge that the 2016/17 season holds. I hope this Cheif Scout is someone who has a solid reputation for spotting talent, who can find out exactly what players are like and what they can bring to a club like Notts County.

Yet for me John Sheridan still has a lot to prove for me, but I will judge him by performances and only after getting to grip with his squad.

Hope to hear positive chants for our manager throughout the season.

Na na na na na now! Jonny Sheridan, Sheridan, Jonny Sheridan!

He's a proven manager and has had success in the past with the CEO and his assistant so I'm expecting good thing but he MUST be given time, that is absolutely essential! We can't expect him to do what Big Sam did and take a terrible terrible team and get them promoted the next season, it might go well this season, it might take 2 or 3 but its a building process that takes time

I held off buying a season ticket until the new manager was appointed, and John Sheridan dropping a division to come to Notts is a good thing. I hope he does well, really well! But I'm just going to concentrate on supporting the team, so no 'John Sheridan's black and white army' ( I get what you're saying though @TheFostarr94 ) just Come on You Pies! ...Maybe 'Notts County's black and white army!'

We all are the black and white army..fans.. players..the manager .. I hope we can unite behind the team this year, so over to you RT get this transfer embargo sorted and let JS bring some quality in.

this team is not super bad it has some half decent players in Scott Loach Curtis mcleod if can get his attitude sorted Stanley.

And if Sheridan has the competitive budget which I'd imagine will be a top 7 budget we should be around the play offs or more.

we can't keep spending money and not bein around the top6 there are some terrible teams in this league

This year its a very tough division, teams like Portsmouth, Plymouth, Donny, Carlisle, Cambridge, Crewe and Colchester will all be fighting for promotion, last season we played teams in the play offs and they were bang average, and Barnsley were bottom at Christmas and ended up being promoted in league 1.

This division or any division is all about consistency, if we have a solid defence and a striker that can score goals then we will be laughing our way up the table

The problem with the existing players is how they work together as a team, this is something JS can work on and improve.

However, many of those whom remain are of similar quality and playing style - which for me is part of the issue when your squad consists of players who are 'like for like'. When teams know how you play, or predict what you may do, it makes your options even more limited. To some degree it's useful but when we signed Banton for example, I said I preferred Snijders and that they're very similar. We could have played both on either flank, yet we didn't and that shows the limitations which are presented when you don't have many who can 'mix' things up.

We need a bit of bulk in midfield, a leader at the back - all of which can pass and do the basics.

With the rest, that is where the quality should come in. We should see players who are creative, fast, direct, skillful but aren't exactly comparable to other existing players because for me, when you can compare three or more to each other, you know you lack quality.

People were saying that about us and Luton last season @ohstanleyaborah, and look how that turned out. We shouldn't let names distract us, if they were that good they wouldn't be in League Two. It'll be nice having Donny in the division, it's a good away trip, but if we get our house in order we shouldn't have anything to fear from anyone.
