  1. Those in attendance, please make sure you wrap up warm. You know the drill with games like this. For anyone at home watching BT Sports or, listening to Radio Nottingham please do keep the match discussion up-to-date with your thoughts. I am hoping it's going to be a lively game from the Notts perspective. COYP!
  2. A strong home performance is needed here, I don't think Dagenham & Redbridge are anything special, and I think if approached well - we'd have little issues. Obviously, it depends on how Notts performs. I would be disappointed not to make the most of this tie though. Our midfield should easily find more time to influence the game, we just need to be wary of their set pieces and, pace.
  3. I find what you say to be fair, although I clearly disagree. I also don't intend for the reaction to be offensive towards you, but I did feel amused by the comments suggesting he played an 8 (or even came close to being named the MOM).
  4. 1-0 up, I thought if Notts could make the 70th minute we'd take all the points. It sounds like Notts played well, most fans comments so far appear happy, but to spear this season in the direction we want, than Notts must start grinding out games whereby we lead. Yes, we'll take the point, but we need to get back to winning ways ASAP. Otherwise, we'll have to reduce a large gap again, and I don't think we should be accepting that the play-offs are the highest we can go. I would hate to see the club fall out of them, as then we will be fighting to retain good standing for the play-offs.
  5. That gap we caught up, which is in danger of becoming bigger again and, these are the types of games where Notts needs to be stronger. Boreham Wood is a good team, they might not have many players who are considered stars, but they work well. I would hope that Notts could break them down by scoring as early as possible, but if we concede ourselves, it could be the same old story. I don't even think a draw here would serve much purpose, yes it's better than nothing but this is the time of the season where teams can fall wayward if they don't put in the performances/hard work.
  6. I hope Sam Slocombe has his tin hat on, as I don't dare go on social media - as I don't want to read comments singling him out. I highly doubt its his fault alone, no idea how the team played but Eastleigh know how to play teams at this level. We never seem to be able to match it.
  7. He did okay towards the end of the first half and, much better in the second half. Overall, he was extremely poor in my opinion. His passing, positional play, marking (a major lack of) in the first 30 minutes were extremely poor. Anthony Patterson had a right mere due to the pressure being inserted, with his distribution during Adam Chicksen's indecisiveness. To me, it looked like we switched formations depending on whether we had the ball. However, when Rochdale attacked, he filled in alongside Connell Rawlinson.
  8. Eastleigh is the type of team I would class as underdogs, but they do understand how to play as a solid team, which makes them difficult to play against. The opening National League game mentioned by Liam, I attended, and we were far out of it. We just struggled to handle their height and physicality. Notts now knows how to play established National League teams that will be a bit more physical, will press the ball and give less time to make use of it. Matt Palmer should be extremely useful with his ability to hold onto the ball and get it moving, although Frank Vincent or whoever, needs to make sure they move into areas that can create chances. Not no man's land. It should be a cracking away day, as they've got a nice ground and fans can stand. I just hope we don't fall back or, struggle with having lost on Tuesday. I do think it will be out of mind and Ian Burchnall has rested some players well, but I am nervous about the centre back partnership. Adam Chicksen starting in this role will give me nightmares after Saturday.
  9. I thought the game was entertaining for both teams, Notts was poor defensively for the first 20 minutes. Adam Chicksen is not a centre back, he was just awful and Anthony Patterson didn't look calm at all - although he made some very good saves. I felt Chicksen was largely poor the whole game. He's a totally different player out wide, but I don't think Ian Burchnall should repeat this mistake in the future, at least not to incorporate him in the side for the sake of it. If we have CB's available play them, I don't mind so much as this past game allowed others to rest. I just feel the indecisiveness and, lack of awareness leads to panic. Everyone else played quite well for me. I think Patterson redeemed himself even more so in the second half. I overheard some fans calling Cal Roberts, what these people might not be aware of - is it's probably Ian Burchnall who wanted to save him. Matt Palmer and, Frank Vincent stood out the most to me. Joel Taylor did well, but he struggled out wide at times and realised he had to drift in to be able to run at Rochdale. This led to some poor decisions, but overall I felt he did okay. It was a decent team performance, Notts to me, was unlucky to lose. In the 2nd half, we showed a different type of class. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. I honestly would like to see more of a threat from Kairo Mitchell. I have people telling me that he's a proper striker, some even preferring him over Kyle Wootton, but I do not see it myself.
  10. I do feel the Notts have reached a standard for their home performances, teams can make them work harder for it, but I believe Rochdale will allow Notts to play at times. It's in these moments where we need to show our class on goal, whilst staying robust enough to block them out at the back. It's a very difficult game to predict, as you can side with your heart. My prediction would be 1-0 to Notts, but admittedly, it could possibly be the other way round.
  11. I have read that Rochdale prefer playing away from home and usually do better, so this could be a real fight, but I think the Notts camp are riding a high that might just see us progress further in the FA Cup. Meadow Lane has seen Notts put on some very impressive performances. In the first half against Solihull Moors, we moved the ball around well. If Rochdale allows us to play, then we should cause them more trouble than we did in the first game. I do expect it to be fairly open and, close.
  12. @menzinho I owe @super_ram and, @GrannyPie a cream cake now Mitchell has scored a league goal. I hope it boosts his confidence having scored, he works hard but so far hasn't seemed a threat on goal - at least not enough to warrant his starting place in my opinion. Great team performance by the squad yesterday.
  13. It wasn't that bad, if you remained in your seat at half-time and, found a way out of the ground before the final whistle - both of which I broke. Fantastic win and, positive performance. The clean sheet is a lot more important, especially with the absence of Kyle Cameron. I thought it was an excellent team performance, with some exceptional individual play. Matt Palmer was brilliant at winning the ball back and, his distribution. He looked heaps better than any Solihull Moor player. Poor DKE with the issue of dealing with their number 6, and the other player who kept pushing him in the second half, not that it bothered Kelly-Evans at all. Big win, it felt like a performance that showed a promise of further to come.
  14. I'm starting to get a bit itchy with my feet, as I don't really like big attendances due to anxiety. On the one side I am looking forward to the game, the other I don't want the usual idiot that knows nothing about the club behind me - moaning about every little thing. On the plus side, it would be a huge mark to get the largest crowd in the National league. Even if it's a sign of the dark times, it will be rememberable if and when we gain promotion back to the Football League. I actually think the performance will be decent, as those expected to start will want to carry on with our recent form. The only issue is that curse of ex managers when they revisit us, will Solihull play out of their skin? Who's going???
  15. It will be interesting to see Neal Ardley back at Meadow Lane, but I think Notts should perform well against them. Solihull Moors are a very hard - working team, who like to have control in their midfield. Provided we defend well, chances should come. I am hoping for a very good game, as I haven't seen Notts for awhile now with me being away.
  16. It's a very good draw for us. I have seen some comments about the football being poor in the first half, yet the second half it sounded better. Most of the chances I heard came Notts' way, so that's a positive. I'm not worried about Notts missing chances, at least they're being created. I think we'll get the job done at Meadow Lane, I'm not fussed about the extra fixture either. We've got depth and, can rotate where needs be. It sounded like Cal Roberts had an usual game by his standard, I noticed on Twitter is dad went - it's a shame he didn't score. When we play at home, it might be worth bringing him on from off the bench.
  17. 1-1 so far, Kyle Wootton puts the ball into the net with his head. Ruben Rodrigues almost got a second, but it didn't cause the Rochdale keeper any trouble. First half sounded like we failed to get grips their tactics, but this second half more seems to be coming out way.
  18. Consistency is the key, but the odd change could save legs for the league ties. Personally, I wouldn't drop any of our big names, unless they're carrying a knock or, in risk of an injury. Rochdale should be a team that will want to play direct and, on the ground - so I hope the scrappy side that could occur is set to a minimum.
  19. Anyone else feel this will be a good test to see how we can compete against a League two team? I really want to see Notts progress, a good cup run could bring so much more merit than just the prize money. It can give the squad some excitement and self-belief, which goes along way but for us fans, it gives us a taste of a good day out and most likely against a team whom we haven't faced for a few years. I'd like Notts to be mindful of injuries, whilst giving the odd player a chance. Matt Palmer needs to start, he does so much of the ball work that often gets unnoticed. His vision and ability to spot a pass, could lead to more chances. I'd partner him with Ed Francis, I know Frank Vincent has done well, but I just feel someone like Francis would enjoy more of the ball against a team like Rochdale. Ian Burchnall will have his plans and whatever happens, it's a day out but I do hope for a win.
  20. It's a big game, a lot our fans are up for the game - it's almost a full on Derby type match. With their current position, Notts needs to turn up and, make a real game of it. I'm slightly nervous, as I can see Grimsby either being a well oiled team that makes us struggle or, allow the game to be extremely scrappy and I'm just not sure we'll handle the occasion well. I hope I'm wrong, but I can see the game finishing 3-1 to them. If we prove ourselves to be determined, it might be a closer draw. I don't expect a win, it would be nice and useful. Yet, despite it being a game that's crucial, one we should on paper being winning. I think momentum is slowly building and preserving a point seems better than nothing to me.
  21. I can't say I feel defeated by drawing, clumsy goal to concede, but it sounded like Bromley made a game of it. If I put myself into their shoes, I'd be happy with the fight back - as a Notts fan I do wish we could've maintained the lead, but a good game meant the points had to be shared.
  22. Frank Vincent is securing his place in the team by the sounds of his performances so far, it's very pleasing to see - especially after the reports of Michael Doyle's verge of return to the starting line-up. Nothing against Doyle, but that would've been a step back and very negative to happen. Hopefully, it leads to a little self belief as there's a lot more that can come if the players just continue to work hard enough. It's a fantastic result for Notts today.
  23. It's all down to how we approach and control the game, Stockport County will be a good team to give some confidence to our camp if we can do well. It will most likely be a tough, challenging game, but I do think Notts can control it. Aaron Nemane needs to show more of his class here, especially if Cal Roberts is rested or out of the game. Creating chances where Notts can drill in shots from the outside of the box, might create goal chances - as I seem to recall their keeper being a little clumsy at times. I don't think we should panic, just focus on bringing the players out of position and without always going backwards.
  24. I've seen a whole range of comments, from people being extremely negative to the more thoughtful. I can't really take comments seriously when they include a lot of swearing, nor can I when they attack others for having their opinion. Expressing opinions, in a meaningful way always makes me see the point people have to make, even if I disagree - I would always respect that. Notts need to hold the ball better against Tamworth, whilst making sure that the finishing is there. I noticed Ian Burchnall mentioned that the players need to have shots from distance and work on the amount of chances created. We have 7 shots on target, 1 or 2 should be going in. It would take an incredibly talented keeper or an outstanding performance to deny any good chances. I think we focus on point - blank situations far too much. Sometimes you just have to try your luck.
  25. By the sounds of what some fans feel on social media, we'll be sending out a squad that is bare-bones compared to regular starters - with suggestions that all of our key players will be rested. This can't and, shouldn't happen. Firstly, it would be an insult to Tamworth to throw out a squad where our quality isn't in depth. I agree, that we need to explore options to rest 3/4 players perhaps, but it can't all be from our attacking options. Secondly, if we lose, some fans will berate the squad selection (it might even happen before kick off). Thirdly, we need some quality up there, we can't just throw a squad out that rests a silly amount of players - it's got to be players that require it more than anything. If Aaron Nemane starts, we might be able to rest Cal Roberts or Ruben Rodrigues. I wouldn't rest all three of them for the sake of it. Kyle Wootton mostly will fall onto the bench if he's dropped, in order to rest - I can't imagine Ian Burchnall risking leaving a goal scorer out completely. Matt Palmer is the only midfielder who carries the ball in a way that gets Notts forward when we hit blockages, part of me hopes he isn't one who is rested. Having said all this, Ian Burchnall might just throw a largely unchanged squad. I think Notts will win 3-0, Wootton, Lacey and Nemane to score.
