  1. I agree, it's a step too far to charge parents of a mass shooter with manslaughter. It's a worrying aspect, as a lot of people own guns, and they're a common place in America. I understand that parents would want to teach their child to safely use a gun, but it should be difficult for them to get hold of It's easier said than done, because it could have been a machete or knife. My friend, who is a teacher in Kansas City, posted on Facebook about how encouraging teachers to have a gun themselves for safety - in case of these incidents occurring - would only lead to further issues. America doesn't focus on the actual problem; they overthink it and come up with stupid ideas. Mass shootings are awful, and I know Steven King has felt responsible for his book 'Rage'. The way things are going, he was right to allow it to fall out of print because he could end up with silly charges brought against himself. This said, the parents should be held responsible as mentioned by @Robbie.
  2. Such a cool 'old school' styled stand. The arched middle part, at least, inspired the rebuild of Meadow Lane. That's such an iconic part of the Meadow Lane stadium that it wouldn't look right if it hadn't been. I also find it fascinating that it was delivered by floating it over the River Trent in 1910. I just couldn't imagine a stadium being dismantled and transported like that.
  3. Great video! Very funny that neither animal detected they were being watched/filmed. It caught something that you might not get to see otherwise.???????? There's a squarrel that lives near my home, which is very funny. It does lapse of my front fence as part of its exercise, almost as if it was like the TV 'Wipeout' but without the water. One time it was doing it, I was sat in the living room looking out at the front garden and noticed there was a black cat stalking it. The Squarrel didn't bother, it just continued doing a circuit of the fence. The cat thought it was being clever by climbing the fence which is to the street, it was acting like it was just minding its own business. The Squarrel continued to run round the fences and along the front of my house, as it approached the cat, the cat jumped into the front garden again acting as if it was doing its own thing. The moment the squarrel reached the point where the cat had been, the cat jumped up and squarrel had reacted ahead, pushing itself up right and performing a martial art kick which would have been befitting to a scene from 'The Last Dragon'. It stunned the cat, and it flew off the fence. The Squarrel remained in an alert position but soon went off. The cat eventually jumped back onto the fence and acted like its pride had been hurt. ????
  4. Personally, I think Gareth Southgate did the right thing by stepping down. He's done well in his role, but the division between England fans and this past tournament performance despite making the final just hasn't been to standard. I would have been happy had he decided to remain in the position, but I think he knows that not all of his ideas on what makes England click are right. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the attitude he has had made him feel he needed to step down on a high. It's sad, because some of the nonsense directed towards him isn't needed. Using sporting events as a reason to give another human abuse is just outright wrong. Unfortunately, it leaves me feeling disinterested and of the belief that the FA will struggle to find a suitable appointment that will please the majority of England fans. It's going to be a tough task, Lee Carsley wouldn't be a bad call, but I don't know much about his style of management.
  5. 1999-2004/5 I was very England focused, more so than Notts. It was difficult after my grandfather died to get to Notts games, still at school. I mostly checked on scores for Notts, but I wasn't as focused on them. I would watch Match of the Day religiously, and it was something we did as a family. Admittedly, I was still very much into Arsenal at this stage. So, England was an easy way to watch football, and we had big names that gave me the hope that we could do well in a major tournament. Not that the golden generation ever delivered this, but it was great seeing the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer etc. I used to also always wear my England coat, and/or shirts. Now I am more focused on Notts, as I have aged I realise that football is more enjoyable to have that belief but to find more enjoyment from league football. So, I would choose Notts easily over England, but I care about them both.
  6. We just ignore them; it's very annoying. It's also horrible to do, as I briefly worked for a windows' company that used to send groups of 5–10 people out into areas trying to sell windows and doors. My parents had new windows themselves and the person handling the sale, ask @GrannyPie if my brother and I had jobs. It's by far the worst thing, but if you have the knack of talking and confidence, then it can pay very well. I don't waste my time with cold callers, or those people approaching you in the streets trying to sell stuff.
  7. Good luck to them with the upcoming season, I'll be keeping tabs on them and hopefully helping to spread awarness as suggested.
  8. I liked Darren Caskey, fans more knowledgable of his time at Notts always make me laugh when they tell me about him. Though, I thought he was a good footballer. I can't say I have seen him play for us many times though. Also, I remember this but never really dived into it.
  9. I think it was Russell Howard who joked about this awhile ago, when it was being reported. It's a silly thing to do, which issuing a ban is the right thing. Officials aren't there to be part of the celebrations or to even be in any sort of spotlight. There have been referees and assistants who have asked players for selfies, this is also something which shouldn't happen during officiating games. Fans need to be able to trust that there's no unbiasedness and act professional.
  10. Amazing location and design of the stadium, but I do echo the comments about traditional grounds like Goodison Park being missed. Imagine watching a night game in the Premier League. It looks amazing!
  11. Wordle 1,124 5/6 ⬛⬛????⬛???? ⬛⬛⬛⬛???? ⬛????????????⬛ ⬛????⬛⬛⬛ ????????????????????
  12. Gareth Southgate has spoken twice about stepping down, although going into the Euros - it seemed likely that he would be standing by his word. I find it quite saddening because whilst he's not been perfect, he got the squad resembling a team we could be proud of. This tournament wasn't the best, perhaps the players knew? I can't suggest all the poor performances could have been down to nerves, wanting to end Southgate's reign as well as possible, but I would be mindful of it. I don't think who takes over next has much to do, but at the same time I don't have much enthusiasm that we'll be able to see who could come in. Most likely it will be a lacklustre appointment, I mean the candidates link already leaves me feeling like this. ????
  13. It's great to see Alassana Jatta back in the team and putting us 2-0 up so early. Also, I like that we are playing a squad that wouldn't be far from our starting XI. I assume, we'll still be making changes as each player does need to get some match fitness, but it's good to see that it's started off strongly. Jatta could be earning the number 9 shirt, although I would still give it to Cedwyn Scott. And both players are featuring together.
  14. There's nothing you can do when players are out of contract; you are once again competing for their signature. Crawley has made some good signings, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is a quality player that at 25-years-old should only flourish. Gevan Holohan is also a very experienced player, that should do well. Likewise with Scott Malone, a decent defender and has a wealth of experience to help keep them in League One. Josh Flint is very much a signing we would make, along the lines of Ed Francis and Will Patching. Unproven, but has plenty of potential and was once held with high regard at Portsmouth - although I don't believe he made an appearance for them. It's disappointing to see a club newly promoted lose players, but it's not like they went out on purpose to rip it apart. Our first season back in League One, it was a mistake for us to gut the 09/10 squad. Crawley, and teams like them would always attract interest in their free agents and key players. Reinvesting and purchasing quality replacements is their own way of combating it. It's sad to see, but not much they can do.
  15. It had me loading the official site up. Good signing for them, it seems he'll be Paddy Madden's long term replacement.
  16. I remember seeing it in programmes, I swear there was a picture in one where Brain Stubbs was holding a County Cola. Don't click the attached link, if you can - read the comments. The link throws an error due to it being archived and old now.
  17. A future production for Aardman Animations or DreamWorks, A Tale of Vegetables on the Move. ????
  18. Queen's Walk always used to look like a nice place to wonder, but my Grandfather would say it was dangerous and occupied by certain people. There's some really nice areas to explore in Nottingham; there are a few places in the Meadows where I like to have walks.
  19. Junior Morias impressed me when he had cameo appearances, it left me asking why we don't see him more but with the options we have it would always be difficult to feature him. Now, Macaulay Langstaff has departed it does present the chance where he could feature more - provided the club doesn't deem the void left needing to be filled. I think some of the criticism for Morias comes from him missing so much due to injuries (although I am dubious he was actually injured). We need more depth, I do hope that we don't rely on signing just trialists. It would be a smart choice to continue the strong recruitment, so we can add further quality and depth, with the trialist becoming signings of 'potential'. I don't want to use the term 'squad members' because I feel the way we are building, any player could get a chance to play. It's important we make the competition for first team places down to performances.
  20. Oh wow, I would have loved that! The only time I would have caught using my phone, would be to snap pictures of the scenery and memories @Fan of Big Tone! It's typical teens these days, they're too glued to technology. I think it was Toton where @cheeky~k8 planned for us to go have a family day, there was an old steam train in service their that did a short track, but it was closed by time we found it. Around 2pm, but I recall seeing many old abandoned trains and information. I have never been on a steam train to my recollection, my grandfather Ray loved them and one of my favourite films is The Railway Children. Back on subject, It's nice to see Loughborough preserving this type of thing and trying to keep it going.
  21. Repeat the same plan as the Netherlands, Spain will want to retain the ball and attack. This will natural allow space to open up, we just need to keep in check our creativity and ensure that we don't make mistakes when passing. Some are fine, but if we give the ball away easily - Spain are one of those teams who can quickly turn nothing into a counter attack. Attacking carefully but directly, it will put pressure on Spain. We have the quality to make their defence have a nightmare for 90 minutes, but they also have clever players who can make it difficult. I will be watching with @super_ram, if he'll have us over again.
  22. Interesting to know, @super_pie was very quick to point out that Cole Palmer got the assist. It felt like Michael Owen type moment, when he scored against Argentina after coming on.
  23. @DeadlyMacca: I remember when you joined as DeadlyDennis, and if you wish to change albeit, but I am with @Fan of Big Tone. You don't have to make any changes, as Macca still works. I mean, you could take up @Robbie's suggestion, and join the trendy way Tony declares his appreciation to a former Notts great - with the Fan of. I'm sure whatever you decide it will be great.
  24. The thing about Junior Morias is he's very fast; when he has been given games this has caused teams to almost fear him getting the ball. Having a striker that can gain this type of attention can be a good thing, so hopefully he catches Stuart Maynards eyes more within the pre-season. Most fans will be curious about the trialists and players who might make an appearance before signing. Wycombe will be a good test for much of our squad, but the results aren't important and neither is the performance - it's not something you can reasonably rate. I do think on an individual level you can. It is also encouraging to see good play, but if it's inconsistent, which a lot of friendlies are, it's more a training exercise.
  25. I know someone might say that they hate seeing videos as it hypes up the potential of a player. Yet, Alex Kirk does look like he has a good level of awareness to cut out dangerous attacks. It's a good insight into his ability, getting that on a consistent basis away from where he's familiar can always be a challenge. I have heard nothing but praise for his performance against Alfreton. We have a few more friendlies where we should be able to judge him a little further, yet I can see the potential.
