  1. He's had a great managerial career but I think he should give it up now, definitely agree with others that say he should enjoy his retirement. I always find it odd when people say they don't look forward to retiring, I think it suggests you don't have much of a life outside your work which can be pretty tragic. There's no reason he can't still be involved in football, I'm sure there'd be tons of grassroots projects nearby where he lives that would love to have him on board. A little bit of weekend coaching for a local youth team even, imagine him coaching 8 year olds, someone would have to film it!
  2. Yeah I'm not far off with @Elite_pie's ratings too. I'd up Austin, Crowley and McGoldrick by .5 (Austin 6, Crowley 7 and McGoldrick 7.5) and take off .5 for Stone who I thought should've done better for the 2nd goal.
  3. Entertaining, but nervy at the end there! First half was us in control, a little bit of off passing but generally pretty solid stuff. Second half we just never got going, well not until they scored 2, stood off them and they got into the final third too easily. That said they didn’t really create much, just relied on our inability to defend a corner. We played into Deeney’s hands, he wasn’t very mobile in the flow of the game. He wanted to stand in the 6-yard box and do his work there and we let him. 2nd goal was particularly awful the ball seemed to bounce into the net in slow-motion, really thought Stone should’ve dealt with it much better. We’re just blessed with superior attacking play at the moment, Jones and Crowley both great again. We scored 4 really good goals, yes their keeper fumbled the 3rd straight to Bostock but the build up to get to that moment was on point. 4th goal was the best for me, quick break, great ball from Jones and you just knew it was going in the moment McGoldrick got that first touch right. I’ll take an exciting 4-3 win over a dull 1-0 win, I’m not complaining but there was too much sloppiness from us in that game (yeah I know that's a complaint!). And a little bit of set-piece work to be done before next weekend I think…
  4. He's a very talented footballer but has suffered a similar fate to Bostock in terms of being marked as the next big star. He signed a professional contract at Arsenal at 17 and whilst it's a huge achievement he must have also felt a lot of pressure. Yes Arsene Wegner talked him up but he never really gave him a chance, just loaned him out. For a young player he's had too many clubs and being able to settle yourself in a team is big part of being able to fill that potential. I've no doubt he can do that with us now, although it's early days you can see he's a much better player than the "standard player" at this level.
  5. Only positive about Salford’s attempt to get some City and United fans down there (they probably won’t rush back after that) by changing it to Friday was being able to stream it. Thought 2-0 flattered them, they couldn’t complain if they’d lost that 4-0. Macca could and should be on double his goal tally already this season, but the fact he’s in those positions all the time means he’ll score a good amount this season. Press was excellent, probably aided by it not being 30°C, we never gave them time on the ball to build out from the back. Crowley was probably my man of the match, absolute quality touch and finish for his goal. I was also very impressed with Austin in the wing-back role (can we even call them wing-backs anymore, wide-midfielders now as they are so high up the pitch!) looked like a natural and he’s an excellent crosser. And I agree with @JohnTheBost about Stone, although he didn't have to make that many saves his ability to play out from the back is a step up from Slocombe, I've been pleasantly surprised by him as when he signed I was a bit unsure about his ability.
  6. He wasn't that bad over the course of the whole game, it's probably his first game where he's made a big mistake all season. Lots questioned Brindley after his performance v Sutton, now he's probably one of the first names on the team-sheet. Players are going to have off days every now and again. At the same it's good we're not over reliant on him either, we've got good competition for the CB roles now, I hope both Macari and Tipton get play against Wolves and show what they can do. And we've only signed Macari until January too, makes me think getting Keeley is still plan a.
  7. Surprised by that but I agree at the minute the German national team isn’t at strong as it once was, they did recently rely on the experienced players, although they are definitely trying to phase out the likes of Neuer, Hummels and Muller. They are definitely short of a good striker playing Havertz there doesn't work and playing Kimmich, one of the best ball playing midfielders, at right back doesn't make sense to me. I thought Flick was an elite level coach, I’m surprised he’s not got them to improve. When he took over at Bayern he basically made them unbeatable, even won the Champions League something Pep Guardiola couldn’t do whilst he was there.
  8. The first half was a bit of a case of both teams not wanting to over-commit, I thought we looked comfortable without creating much. Macca has the one huge chance to put us one up, did Nemane need to cross it as hard as he did or 9 times out of 10 does Macca score that? Not the start we wanted to the second half, we lost the ball with Nemane high up the pitch but someone usually fills in when the wing-backs bomb on. For me Rawlinson has to go and close the ball carrier down, tell Brinds to mark his man, then Cameron marks the spare man (Leko). Easy to fix in hindsight but surely the immediate danger was the man on the ball charging at the goal!? I can only assume he thinks Nemane's going to get back, even though he’s 10 yards behind him... Hey-ho, it spurred us on anyway and we more than deserved a point, great strike from Cameron, that heavy first touch actually benefitted him there! We probably could’ve gone on and won it. I thought Adebayo-Rowling put in some great crosses just needed more runners to get on the end of them. Can’t argue with another point away against a team who were in League 1 last season.
  9. Yeah, I'd love to finally get to see Randall and what he's capable of but I think this game has come too soon for him. Chicks get's my vote too!
  10. Yeah, very good little interview that. Very Partridge with the "he's used to putting the ball in the net" comment over footage of Macaulay hitting the padel ball into it
  11. The one and only Jude Stirling. I Think he was bought in for his DJ'ing skills, and who says the club wasn't run well all those years ago?
  12. I'm pretty sure it's another international break so with no Premier League or Championship fixtures they've got no choice really. Although I'm sure they'd just be happier with more Prem highlights if they could get away with it! I actually think BT did a good job of covering the National League, they had a game on every weekend with one in the week too for midweek fixtures. So far this season there's been no League 2 game broadcast (correct me if I'm wrong), they are showing Bradford v Grimsby tomorrow but considering they've got the rights for EFL games it's pretty poor. The only positive is it's good for us fans as we aren't messed around with different games times every other week!
  13. I notice on an MK Forum they’re already doubting Alexander’s appointment; We went 1-0 up and it all looked good, and I have to confess I was confident we would go onto win, but we just stopped playing and Crewe grew ever more confident. Gone was the confident passing and the high press and in came a lost shape and no apparent game plan and panic-stricken players just booting it long to nobody, but we shouldn’t be shocked we’ve seen it several times this season already, and according to Salford and Motherwell fans this is so the Alexander way. You genuinely wouldn’t think they’re second in the league, most of their fans think they’re lucky to be there. They seem to think they start fast and play well for the first 30 minutes. So if we survive that we could well be on our way to anther 3 points. If one of or even all three of Mo Eisa, Jonathan Leko and Matthew Dennis are out that will undoubtedly help us. One thing I think impacts us though is the weather, could be positive, could be a negative. Are we going to be able to press effectively when it’s nearly 30°c? Will it be off the pace and therefore end up leaving big gaps to play through. Or will we be able to just keep the ball, tire them out and cause them to leave gaps? I notice we’ve got Chris Kavanagh as the ref, so we’ll see how much better a so-called top official is!
  14. Yeah I certainly wouldn't consider Notts to be a slow team. I wonder how they measure and contextualise this. Is it purely to do with long-balls? The Notts team I watch are aggressive, run hard and attack teams whilst trying to dominate the ball!
  15. Considering some of the prices for players like Rice and Caicedo which were super over-priced I don’t think the fee (in the current football market*) is that surprising. He scored 8 goals for a team that last season struggled. Now he’s in a better team, no disrespect to Forest, there’s no reason why he couldn’t get 15 goals if he played regularly. * I hate how we rationalise this – it’s just a way of accepting billionaires spending. So yeah in terms of not getting top flight economics, it’s in a real mess. Just looking at it from a real-life point of view it’s an obscene amount of money, only in football terms could 45 million pounds be spoken about like it’s a couple of hundred quid. At the end of the day they are just people who are good at football, I appreciate they are assets to clubs in same way stock is to a business but they shouldn’t be worth that much. Something needs to be done about these constant increases, the Saudi investment is now taking everything to another level and it’s just going to spiral and get worse until someone (I’m looking at you FIFA/UEFA/The FA) steps in and starts putting proper salary and spending caps in place. I’d love it happen, but I’m sceptical it ever will.
  16. Madness, 6 games in, I know they've invested quite a bit in their squad but things take time to click. Yeah, I agree with @Chris Eastleigh makes more sense to me given he's London based. Enzio and McDonnell there too, a bit of a reunion maybe?
  17. Not good and gutting for him. It doesn’t sound as bad as Baj’s but I don’t think we’ll be seeing him until the new year. We’re not short of attacking options, just need to get Morias and Randall up to speed now.
  18. Great for him, from a purely selfish Notts point of view it's a shame he's missing the MK Dons game as they're strong opposition. Hopefully he'll be back for Salford away though.
  19. Those are some very promising stats and he's obviously playing well right now but I don't know enough about the quality of the League of Ireland to know how impressive they truly are though. We had a striker, Andre Wright, on trial a few seasons ago after he did well in that league but he didn't do enough to earn himself a contract I seem to remember Vit Jaros getting rave reviews from St Patricks fans and he was just decent, nothing particularly special. Some fans seem to think a big CB like this will answer all our problems, he'd certainly aid us in defending balls into our box but he's got to be better than just your head it/kick it style CB. We ask a lot of our defenders on the ball and he'll spend more time out the box then in it so he'll need to have a decent turn of pace otherwise, given his seemingly good areal ability, he'll be exploited in that way. In terms of the transfer happening, given he's out of contract in a few months and there's only 8 games of their season left, I'm really surprised they've turned our bids down. They must be confident they can get him to renew at the end of the season.
  20. Love it. I've not heard of him before but just from a quick look over his work this morning he's a really talented artist. Painting that panorama style is tricky and mastering proportions in drawing/painting isn't easy. The fact he did that over the course of the game (and probably a bit extra at end to finish off) is supremely impressive.
  21. Charlton is a proper nut-house at the moment, I thought they solved their ownership issues from a few years ago when they were finally sold by Duchâtelet (anyone remember their fans lobbing stress balls onto the pitch in protest). But it seems to have somehow got worse, this season’s owners are the fourth in under 5 years! That’s crazy. I had a look at the previous appointments there, 5 permanent mangers in 2 years should be enough to put him off too!
  22. I think players know straight away if it's a bad one, Bajrami made no attempt to play on after his. Scott did try to carry on, and was able to move on it although he struggled. I'm hopeful it isn't going to be a long-term injury, maybe just a few weeks.
  23. That really shouldn’t have been so stressful at the end. We could’ve thrown that away in the last 10, they had a couple of really good chances. That said, we could’ve scored another too! I thought we deserved to win the game, we created enough chances to win a couple of games there. Issue was we fluffed so many of them, we could’ve (and should’ve) been a 4-0 up before they scored. No idea how Macca didn’t score, there was that manic couple of minutes after Didzy opened the scoring when he had a hatful of chances. I was impressed with how sharp we looked, a real slickness to our play at times. We controlled the game, until the last 15 minutes really, the mass changes just disrupted us a bit. And then Scott having to limp off gave them a boost. Glad we held on though, maybe just make the 4 subs next week!
  24. I’d actually be surprised if we didn’t sign anyone. But because we’ve added Tipton (and given Brinds promising start at CB) I think we’re more likely to sign a defensive midfielder, probably someone who can fill-in in defence if needed. I say this because I think that’s what Bajrami’s role would’ve been this season. He played most of pre-season in midfield and there again vs Lincoln. To me that suggests it was more likely he’d play in midfield this season. Problem is though trying to find a hybrid player, and a good one, like Bajrami isn't easy.
  25. When I saw the team sheet my first thought was that’s brave. I thought we'd overloaded it with attackers but it worked, a great win. Langstaff unlucky not to get a hat-trick by all accounts, the first of many for the season I'm sure. Shame we conceded right at the end, not going to stop my celebrations, but I’m sure LW will be annoyed with it! Also I see Morecambe beat Bradford City 3-0, one of the teams expected to challenge for top-spot, so that turned out to be a very good away point. A good week for Notts!
