Notts waiver of loan from Football Radar
The Reedtz are showing real commitment to the club by writing off the debt. Our two previous owners would not have done that, and while one did save us from Munto, it was not on the same level as this gesture. The decision is not about paying people back but about pushing for promotion to League One. This deserves a lot of appreciation because it has been done in the best interests of the club and its aim to become sustainable. The whole club has changed since the National League years. Some may not agree with what I have said before, but I do not think anyone can underestimate the good the Reedtz have brought to Meadow Lane. We are now being run like an ambitious club. To match that, we just need to keep working towards promotion. Things feel much brighter, even if this season’s recruitment raised a few eyebrows. That is part of the reason why smart loans were considered. We just need to back the players and hope they can deliver or at least help us along the way.

Match Discussion: League Two - Crewe Alexandra (A)
Crewe fans on social media are acting like they’re unbeatable. I find it annoying when their stadium name sounds like a breakfast cereal. Notts needs to keep up the recent momentum and keep working hard to create chances. I don’t mind a draw if it’s earned through effort. Defensively, we should be able to handle Crewe. The main worry is their aerial threats and set pieces, but we’ve looked better lately. I hope we can ease the pressure at the back by attacking more or at least keeping hold of the ball and moving into areas that stretch them.

Rod McDonald’s Form: Too Good to Drop?
Rod McDonald is a good example of what makes life easier for a manager. Part of the reason he's been so consistent might be down to Martin Paterson and the fact McDonald wants to impress the new coach. I thought he did alright under Stuart Maynard, but I feel he's showing his appreciation to Paterson for letting him take up the central spot in the back three.

Where are they now : Jack McMillan
Didn't he last join a Non-League side? I’m guessing he’s not playing anymore and this is now his full-time job. It’s always sad when a young player’s career doesn’t go the way it looked like it might. Signing for Liverpool would have been a huge moment, and being let go must have been hard to take. Still, he’s found something he cares about and seems happy doing it. That’s a good thing. Even so, it’s a real shame for football to lose that kind of promise.

Michael Duff appointed at Wycombe, will he ask for Martin Paterson as his #2?
The only real benefit of being a number two is having less pressure on your shoulders. I think it would be a poor move if he left his role as head coach here just to become someone’s assistant at a club that’s struggling for the first time in a while. It’s an important appointment for Michael Duff and it needs to go well for him. But I don’t think they’ll want to pay compensation to bring in Martin Paterson. It would feel like a step back for Paterson’s career. It might also give the impression that he doesn’t have the fight to stand on his own and lead a team properly.

Are Two Strikers Better Than One?
Why can't we change the way we play now and then? Professional players should be able to adjust to different systems and find their rhythm by using what each style offers. I think we usually look better with two strikers. Tranmere showed signs of that, even though I’ve only seen the highlights. The problem might come when we face strong defensive teams, as that’s where we could struggle. It’s still early in the partnership, so we either stick with the two up front and work out the best way to get them involved, or we need to be flexible and change things when needed. I do think we look more dangerous with two strikers, but there’s a risk of injuries and suspensions. If teams can control the midfield, they might find it easy to deal with our front line.

Fans Forum
I find it more interesting to talk about the fans forum after it’s taken place. Sometimes you can pick up on things that aren’t said directly, and that makes the discussion more meaningful. I’m not really a fan of holding these forums when there are lots of complaints that don’t seem to have much reason behind them. I’m not saying that’s the case this time, because I do think the club should have given us more updates before fans had to push for it. The problem is we don’t tend to hold forums when things are going badly, and when things are going well, they often get ignored. That’s why I prefer to wait, see what’s been said, and talk about those points properly. I also like reading what other people think.

Which Early Retiree Would You Have Loved to See at Notts?
Before his ego took over, Eden Hazard was a joy to watch when he played for Chelsea. Seeing him come to Notts would have been a dream, only matched by the excitement of the Munto season. I know it is unrealistic, but the point of this topic is to dream about players who lost their love for football or had to retire because of injury. Even at 32, which was the age he retired, Hazard would still have been a world-class player.

Notts now have a proud record
@liampie, this season is about achieving something special by beating Fleetwood Town. We now join Port Vale and a few past teams who have beaten all 91 professional league clubs from the Premier League to League Two. It is an achievement to be proud of, much like visiting all 91 grounds, and it means a great deal to the fans.

Who's your Man of the Match v Gillingham?
Well done to Rod McDonald. He has been excellent since coming into the team. At first, he looked like he might only be a rotation or backup option, especially after Lucas Ness arrived, but he has shown he is good enough to be a first-team regular. This is exactly what we want from players. He has earned his back-to-back Man of the Match awards from PON.

The Tenth Game
Eight games in, I think we are starting to see what Martin Paterson is about. A couple more wins would help back up his comments about judging him fairly. As a coach, I think he is fine and improvements will come with time. I am not sure we are seeing clear signs of everyone working together yet. Performances have been a bit mixed, but there are signs of progress. His calls for reinforcements, alongside the return of injured players, feel like they could be an excuse in the making. This squad should be strong enough to climb the table, so some of the slow start is on Paterson, some on the club, and a lot on the players’ desire to win. I see good qualities in Paterson and I want it to work. I like how vocal he is on the touchline, and this should improve as the players buy into his vision. The players need to work harder. At times it feels like they do not know how to break a team down, and the midfield has a big role in helping us play forward. I said with Stuart Maynard that a full season was the best way to judge him, and I felt he did achieve some improvement before his sacking after the AFC Wimbledon game. I believe Paterson could do well with a full season, but right now the players seem to be struggling to adapt to a different way of thinking. Paterson talks about culture and the changes he is bringing in, but I am sure many players feel much of it was already here.

Why Keeping the Squad Settled Matters More Than Gossip
Rumours do unsettle things, and I think there should be a level of openness between the club and supporters. This helps keep the trust of the level-headed fans who do not look for misery or thrive on it. The club can handle situations well, and they deserve credit for how they dealt with Alassana Jatta. At the same time, I question why it happened in the first place and why it could not have been resolved before it became a bigger issue. I do not believe Jatta was injured. I think his agent has been in his ear, and it is a tricky situation. We can still be honest with players about how important they are to the club.

Match Discussion: League Two - Gillingham (A)
There have been a lot of interesting comments so far, I am really hoping Notts can maintain their winning ways because there's no harm drawing to the league leaders. Protecting a point, and coming back with at least one at least sees us gain something. Obviously, I am hoping we can prove ourselves and show a good, strong performance, but from all the things I have read about Gillingham is that they are a dangerous team to play at home and thrive on causing mistakes. I personally would always hope to play Jodi if he's 100%, he's a class player and can create assists or chip in with vital goals. Plus, he's one of those players who shines when we lead, and if we need to show some mettle to get back into games, he can be a real force going forward. Martin Paterson sounded almost unphased in his interview, but spoke of training and some of the preparation that the team has done ahead of today's game.

Manager or Director of Football?
Yes, I agree with you. My point is more about spending a large amount on one player when there are other parts of the team that could use that money more wisely. Izale McLeod, to be fair, wasn’t as much of a flop as people said at the time. The problem was that we didn’t play to his strengths. Notts seemed to expect the striker to chase after the ball, rather than pass it to his feet or close enough for a quick burst. Even so, the fees in both cases do seem like they could have been used better. It’s about making smart choices that help the whole squad, not just one position.

Should Notts Skip the German Tour Next Season?
I can imagine it’s much easier to arrange friendlies abroad than it is to get strong teams from the Premier League or Championship. Those teams would offer a more competitive style, but I don’t mind the idea of playing in Germany. I do think the squad should have been mostly sorted by then. It would have helped with team bonding and getting players used to each other before facing tough opposition. The four weeks with hardly any updates, before Martin Paterson was named head coach, made it clear how unprepared we were for pre-season. It felt like things were left too late and that showed in how the team started.

Ambassador to US, Deputy Leader Labour Party, Notts County DoF please attach your cv
I was surprised he stayed when Luke Williams was sacked. Swansea City might not have wanted to admit things weren’t going as they hoped, but I don’t really see him coming back to us. I would welcome him back, but I think Williams needs more experience before being considered as head coach again. It’s important to grow and learn before stepping into that role a second time. Both of them will have learned something from moving up too quickly. You need to understand what it takes to succeed at that level, especially in the Championship. That kind of experience only comes with time and reflection.

Montague leaves Swansea
It reminds me of when Stuart Maynard was sacked and all the talk started about Luke Williams coming back. I didn’t want that at the time. Maybe one day it would be nice to see Williams return, once he has more experience, but both he and Richard Montague left us in a tough spot. I think Montague could come back and pick up where he left off. He knew the club well and worked within the model. Still, I do remember feeling like I had a few things I wanted to challenge him on. The grass isn’t always greener, but he did seem to fit. If Montague doesn’t return, I hope the club brings in someone with strong links to other clubs and knows how to open those doors. That kind of network is vital. I don’t think Roberto Gagliardi did well in that area. He probably spoke well about his contacts, but the loan market suggests those connections didn’t really help us.
