Nottingham Evening Post Coverage
The quality feels lazy. I did think Leigh Curtis did a few good things, and so did the lad who came after him, but their focus doesn’t seem to match what we care about as fans. I’ll give credit when it’s due. That goes for Ratio Nottingham and BBC Sport as well. When they do something good, I’ll say so. I just don’t see the point of buying a paper that ends up in the bin after a quick read. The website is off-putting too. There are far too many spammy adverts to bother with it.

Burton Albion under FA investigation
It’s bad for the fans, but it’s good that they are being looked into for breaking the rules. But when some clubs can get away with charges or put them off, you can’t help but wonder how fair the rules are. They are supposed to keep football on a level playing field and stop clubs bending them to suit themselves.

Didzy Watch
David McGoldrick finished well, even though he looked slow and heavy-footed before he struck the ball. He timed it just right in the end. Not being biased, but Vimal Yoganathan’s goal was much better. It showed real skill and reminded me of what Didzy is capable of when he’s sharp. That said, people do tend to go overboard when former players score. There's often more excitement than the goal itself deserves.

Paul Ince driving ban
Speeding is against the law no matter who you are, so he got what was coming to him. Fame shouldn’t mean special treatment. As for his football career, it seems like his name has done more work than his skills. He’s known more for getting jobs because of who he is, not how well he manages. That’s never a good look.

David Baddiel on Andrew Lloyd Webber and football
What if Andrew Lloyd Webber played a joke on David Baddiel, just because David believed a rumour that Andrew thought he was Ben Elton? It would be quite a clever way to poke fun at the mix-up. It’s a funny story, though.

Is there something wrong with our club?
There are some valid frustrations, but I believe the criticism is a bit harsh in places. The Notts media team generally does a solid job during the season and understandably quietens during pre-season. It would be great to see more creative use of that downtime, saved content or even smaller updates could help fans feel included. It's true we haven't had those regular CEO updates like we did under Jason Turner, and the absence of that personal touch does leave a gap. As for fan engagement I agree it feels more corporate now. A return to that interactive community-first approach we once had would be welcome. However, I don't think the media team is ignoring fans. It might be more about time priorities and perhaps even burnout. Recruitment-wise, I'm not worried yet. There is still time to add depth and plug the gaps. Yes we need an experienced goalkeeper no doubt, but I don't think the club has lost its way on data-driven signings. It's possible we've faced player rejections we don't hear about or we're being patient to land the right fit. With the CEO, I do have questions. Communication feels limited and less transparent than it used to be, and more proactive engagement would not hurt. Jason Turner set a high standard there, and I would love to see that ethos return. As for Martin Paterson, I'm keeping an open mind. He seems professional and thoughtful in his interviews, and judging him before a ball has been kicked feels premature. Pre-season can give clues, but competitive matches will tell us much more. I sense some of the concerns, but I wouldn't say the club is in crisis. We've built something strong over recent seasons, and it's worth being patient before jumping to conclusions.

Visiting Nottingham
If you're staying for two full days, you could spend the first day exploring Nottingham and the second visiting somewhere nearby. That way, you get a good mix of local sights and a change of scenery. If you like going for walks, Derby has some lovely places to see. The Derby Cathedral is a great landmark, and Chaddesden Wood and Markeaton Park are peaceful spots for a stroll or a bit of nature. St Peter's Church is worth a visit, and if you're into museums, the Museum of Making and Derby Museum & Art Gallery are both good choices with interesting collections. Back in Nottingham, Castle Fine Art and Nottingham Contemporary might appeal to you if you're into artwork. The East Midlands is a lovely region to discover, and you could also look into Leicestershire or Northamptonshire for more ideas before finalising your trip.

Vanilla ice cream
Vanilla ice cream can be a bit hit and miss. A lot of it ends up tasting like cold milk, which isn’t how proper vanilla should taste when the pods are used the right way. Good vanilla has a lovely smell, and when it’s used in baking, it can taste amazing. It lifts the flavour and makes things feel richer. Strawberry’s my favourite when it comes to ice cream. I do enjoy vanilla too, but it’s probably my third or fourth pick overall.

Pre Season Behind Closed Doors Friendly. Port Vale 1 Notts 3
It was a good result against a side that showed their quality last season. They may not have gone all out, but as a friendly, it’s a positive sign for Notts. Still, we’ll need to see how things go once the season kicks off before getting carried away. There’s always that bit of unknown until the real tests begin. I’m glad Jodi and Jatta played. They’re both key to how well we do, and having them involved early is a big plus.

Connie Francis. RIP
I'm in the same boat as @TheSkipper, but it's only right to pay respect to the dead. I am sure plenty of people are saddened by her loss, and enjoyed her music. May she Rest in Peace.

Martin Paterson mic'd up.
I don't think he would act the way he does if he wasn't just being himself. I like how he talks to the players and the way he goes about things. If he gets angry, I don't know what he's like, so I can't really say. But if he's always calm and easy to talk to, and deals with stress well, he could be really good at motivating people. Then again, it didn’t do Sir Alex Ferguson any harm when he gave his players the hair dryer treatment.

Hearts v Dunfermline
Hearts have a really nice stadium from the pictures I’ve seen on Google. I can’t say much about the gates at Meadow Lane. I sit in the top half of the KOP and from up there you can see the Pavis Stand clearly. Sometimes the Family Stand looks quite empty, even though the attendance is about the same as when it looks full. I don’t know if it’s the Pavis or KOP that has more people, or if the away fans help boost the numbers. But as long as we keep getting over 10,000, it shows the club is going in the right direction.

The Grant Paradox
I think Conor Grant goes quiet when other players like David McGoldrick stand out. He seems to do better when he gets more of the ball and starts the game well. If he’s having an average game or finding it hard, he can go a bit unnoticed on the pitch. But even then, he can still do something that changes the game. His role this season should be more important, and I hope it is because I like what he brings to the team when he’s playing well.

Poetic Pies
I’ve no idea where to begin with writing poetry, but I do enjoy reading it. Maybe one day I’ll give it a try for a bit of fun. I’ve seen other groups do word challenges with a set list to include in a poem, but I think I’d be way out of my depth with something like that. Great poems, @Michael D Pie.. Please keep posting them.

Bad Accounting, Good Prospects
I don’t overthink it too much, but I do like that the Reedtz brothers are happy to invest in transfers. You can’t build a proper team using only free agents, you need a few established players in the mix. I agree that spending money on a keeper shows serious intent. Some fans aren’t keen on all the loan signings, but I think that’s more about filling gaps. I expect we’ll still bring in another two or three. If there’s a fee involved, I trust it’ll be for players who add real strength to the squad.

Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
Every time I return to PON, there are new members joining in. It’s great to see, and I honestly think once people settle and get used to things, they understand what it’s all about. It’s really encouraging. Today I’ve been sorting bits and pieces, getting ready for the full move at the weekend. The rain made a nice change, though it was only light and actually felt quite refreshing. Tomorrow I’ve got to head into the city centre to grab a few things. I reckon another couple of new members would feel better than any of Notts’ signings so far!

Weekly Chat - Monday 14th to Sunday 20th July
Afternoon, all. Nice to finally have a rainy day, isn’t it? Hopefully the sun comes back soon, but in a more natural way rather than those heatwaves we keep having. I’m off for an appointment about my leg, so I’ll be joining everyone else who’s waiting to be patched up. Things are going well though. On the topic of moving, my girlfriend and I have decided to accept a friend’s offer to live with him. He’s been keen for a while now, and I hope he doesn’t regret it. We’re really grateful for the chance to find our own way without being stuck under our parents’ roofs. I might have more news to share later on. @TheSkipper, enjoy London, mate. You’ll smash those interviews!
