  1. It was impressive to see how Notts continued to play despite Accrington Stanley's rough play. I think Accrington Stanley were lucky not to have received a red card. Stuart Maynard's management during the game and his choice of players were excellent. I hope this will lead to more support for the club. This is a good start for the club, and we can build on it. If we can bring back the togetherness we had during the promotion season from the National League, that would be even better. I think Stuart Maynard is very polite and focused, despite the negativity expressed towards him. This is the start we wanted, and we need to continue to believe in ourselves.
  2. Well done, everyone! I won't miss a round from now on. I was just giving @liampie a head start in the Prediction League. There's still a lot to play for, so make sure to come back for future rounds.
  3. Well done, gaffer! I always enjoy seeing your Faces of PON gallery. Great photos!
  4. He's before my time too, but I'm very familiar with the name Paul Devlin. He played for Notts for a decent amount of time, so I'm not surprised that he's well-liked and considered a club legend. I haven't seen him play, but I think this article gives a good insight into him as a player.
  5. Barnsley 2-1 Bristol Rovers Joker Charlton Athletic 2-0 Rotherham United Cheltenham Town 1-1 Harrogate Town Colchester United 2-0 Bromley Doncaster Rovers 1-1 Gillingham Braintree Town 1-2 Woking Gateshead 2-1 Barnet Hartlepool United 3-1 Halifax Town
  6. That's a solid opposition view. I'm pleased to see these discussions return, and I think Michael answers the questions very well. He's right that Accrington Stanley played well against us last season, but it won't be easy for either team. I'm hoping for more than a win for Notts, but I'd respect a point against a side like them.
  7. I hope we repeat the applause in the 76th minute or at least chant his name. His time at Notts brought a lot of attention to the club and reawakened a sleeping fanbase. To be the best team in that season and win the title, after it seemed to be between Rochdale and Bournemouth, I think it's only right we repeat it.
  8. I think the worst Millwall could do is give up on the player. You have to keep pushing and hope that hard work pays off. It's a combination of game time, settling in, and training that could ultimately make the signing work. I don't think their manager has been patient enough. Nobody can say he won't make it at Championship level. If they give up so easily on a signing, no wonder they struggle.
  9. It should be an exciting match. I think most teams that play us at home will try to counter-attack to combat our possession. Accrington Stanley are a good side at this level and will certainly give us problems. Matt Platt, Lewis Macari, and Jacob Bedeau seem to be forming a solid partnership in defence, which is very effective alongside the commanding presence of Alex Bass. They give me a lot of confidence, but we're strong in every area of the pitch. I think Jodi Jones will thrive on the attention Stanley might give him.
  10. I'm glad Greg Abbott is still involved in football. The last I heard, he'd beaten cancer and was enjoying life after his recovery. I think his illness forced him to step down from his previous position, so it's nice to know he's still around the game he loves. He always had a great sense of humour at Notts.
  11. Both goals show David McGoldrick's class. Those are top-class shots. They're both equally good. They're very well-placed, with a bit of skill before he decides where to place it.
  12. Everyone will have their own choice, but Dan Crowley was voted the winner. I think he deserved it, and I hope he continues to play well.
  13. It's nice to see you. Don't be a stranger, @BradtheMiller. We like seeing fans of other clubs. It gives us a different perspective. I think you'll see that PON is doing really well right now.
  14. Great win for our women's team! I'm glad they won. They've had a great start to the season.
  15. I tried to see if Google Lens could read some of the text, but it mostly said nonsense. If you click on the image and then press to see the full resolution, you can read most of the text.
  16. Swindon Town played some good football. Defensively, Notts looked much stronger, even though we signed new players to strengthen our defense. I thought every player gave their all, and that's all I ask for. As for the result, I'm pleased we showed the strength and character to achieve it. We must continue from here.
  17. Notts showed a different side to their game yesterday. It's important to be able to dig deep when results are important. Good teams can do that. Swindon Town played well. Defensively, we're looking much better under Stuart Maynard, and the new players have added much-needed defensive cover. When you can win while still performing well, but it might not be as entertaining, as David McGoldrick said, it's the win that matters.
  18. There are times when you wish David McGoldrick could do a bit more, but I don't question his effort. Considering his age and where he is in his career, we should take that into account. I hope he keeps going, as it's great to see him doing well. He performs better when he's not overplayed, but I think he did well yesterday, not just because of the goals. He looked eager and wanted to make an impact, and that's what we need.
  19. This is a good signing, even as a loan. I hope we can make the most of him. I hope we see plenty of him. Some fans wanted defensive cover in midfield, and that wish has been granted with the signing of George Abbott. He played a bit today, but not enough to get a good sense of his abilities.
  20. It's a good statement. I agree that some fans might complain, and I don't think that would change for Notts. You have to manage your expectations. Not long ago, it seemed like we wouldn't sign anyone. We made two deadline day deals, one of which was an ideal loan signing. We can't complain about the defence, which has been improved during the preseason and transfer window.
  21. I don't want to discuss his past in relation to his signing. I don't think it's appropriate to do so, as it could distract from the purpose of the signing. I'm glad we have cover, and I hope he provides good depth for Notts. This is one of those signings that we can only hope works out well. We won't know until we give him a chance, so let's welcome him and hope he focuses on his football.
  22. Ha! Yeovil Town won't be able to live this down for a while. I wonder if they'll hear any chants about it. It would be devastating.
  23. It was a solid victory. Swindon Town could have made it difficult to score, let alone twice. If they had played defensively after scoring, the game could have been frustrating. However, it was encouraging to see Notts respond by trying to equalise. The winning goal came at the perfect time! Our fans were excellent at times, but I think we could be a bit louder.
  24. Derby County 1-1 Bristol City Plymouth Argyle 1-2 Stoke City Crawley Town 1-3 Barnsley Joker Peterborough United 2-0 Wrexham Accrington Stanley 0-2 Colchester United Carlisle United 1-1 Tranmere Rovers Altrincham 2-0 Oldham Athletic Gateshead 1-0 Eastleigh
  25. Lewis Macari always had something special about him, but I think he's improved a lot since he first arrived, and this season he's showing signs of settling into the role. That's what we need defensively: players who will make the position their own and fight to stay in the team. He wasn't afraid to go in against a physical Tranmere side on the opening day, and although I missed that at the time, having watched the full game since, I think he's been one of our best defenders so far this season. He looks perfect alongside Matty Platt and Jacob Bedeau. Those three have a good understanding of each other, and I hope with more game time, we'll see even more improvements from Macari.
