  1. Matt Dennis has been one of the success stories of the transfer window. He's started the season so we'll and he has slotted into the Notts system with ease. it also appears.thst he is going to have a very successful partnership with his striking partner Alassana Jatta which is very encouraging. I was also impressed with his interview and it looks like he is going to be a team man rather than an individualist on the field of play. His award for his performance this month is not just about him but also reflects on the performance of his teammates. Head Coach Martin Paterson was keen to point this out in his interview today. Hopefully, this won't be the only award that Matt will get this season.
  2. Let's hear from Head Coach Martin Paterson about his thoughts before the Gillingham match on Saturday.
  3. Hear from the man of the moment.
  4. Good point @theAnticlough in maybe suspending the TB and just having informal meetings, while the football staff concentrate on helping the players to keep improving on the field. It's vital that the players get as much support possible as they try to extend their unbeaten run.
  5. It will be interesting to learn who will be chairing the Notts Technical Board now that Roberto Gagliardi has left the Club. Presumably, Martin Paterson should be next in line after Roberto in the Notts hierarchy, so maybe he will be chairing these meetings until a replacement for Roberto is recruited. I suppose one of the Reedtz brothers or alternatively Chief Executive Joe Palmer could chair it. Interestingly, Director of Performance, Dr David Rhodes appears on the staff list above Martin Paterson, so will he be now chairing the meetings? Current staff list taken from the Notts website👇
  6. Great news that Matt Dennis has won the League 2 player of the month award for August.

  12. I agree @thommo about some teams getting away with dodgy behaviour. It's just so dissapointing that once again we have a cloud over another one of the big six Clubs in England. It does seem to follow that the richer the club the bigger the chance of something untoward happening financially. Chelsea may be able to prove their innocence & a club is innocent before being found guilty. But if the club is found guilty the severest sanctions have to be applied to set an example.
  13. A massive match for Notts on Saturday. The most important match of the season for Notts so far. It's a pity that developments off the pitch have been a bit of a distraction & I do hope that the players focus on the match rather than other distractions. I would stay with the same starting eleven that started the match against Fleetwood & have Jodi Jones on the bench initially. Gillingham are going to be tough. They are riding high at the top of League 2 & fully deserved to be there..Notts are going to need to continue playing with physicality & toughness & to keep it very tight at the back. We know that Notts are capable of hurting any team in this league with their front two strikers Jatta & Dennis. It's just a matter of waiting for opportunities up front & defending very well at the back. I would be very satisfied to come out of this fixture with a draw to keep the unbeaten run going. We will know quite a lot about Notts's promotion credentials after the final whistle.
  14. BBC SportChelsea face 74 Football Association charges over agent p...Chelsea are charged by the Football Association with 74 alleged rule breaches related to payments to agents when Roman Abramovich was owner.
  15. Another Director of Football bites the fust. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back at Notts.
  16. A tough morning session for Notts. They lose 5 wickets in the morning session & at lunch they are on 91 for 6 with 45 still required.Notts have won the match by 3 wickets making 136 for 7
  17. This is my problem with the DOF/ HC model The Director of Football is generally considered above a Head Coach in the organisational hierarchy with the head coach reporting to the DoF. The DoF oversees the entire sporting side, including player recruitment, squad planning, and strategic vision, while the head coach focuses on on-field performance and training. This has the potential for conflict & disagreement regarding football operations. We don't know what the circumstances of Roberto's reasons for leaving, but whether things were running smoothly behind the scenes is open to conjecture. Players need to know that things are running smoothly at a club to play at their best. I just think that the old fashioned Manager / Player works best when it comes to hands on management & coaching, but I do respect the opinions of others who do have an alternative point of view.
  18. Not another Director of Football biting the dust. Player recruitment is a very specialist job where you just cannot rely on pure data to decide whether a player is suitable at a particular club. It needs the recruiter to have plenty of experience at the level their club is playing, he needs to know plenty of players at that level too. I don't think that Roberto & Richard have had that experience at their respective club's level.
  19. Why would the brothers appoint a novice Head Coach & an even more of a Novice Director of Football to work together? At least the brothers have put one side of the coin right with Roberto going.
  20. Wow. A two for twice on the trott. Three on the trott would be very hard to beat.
  21. During the Clough / Taylor years at Derby & Forest, Taylor as assistant Manager used to be the talent spotter & Head recruiter with scouts working for him, so I don't really see why a Director of Football is really necessary.. The Club Manager can still be the top dog with staff underneath him that he can delegate into different roles. The trouble with a Director of Football position is that it is regarded as being above the Head Coach. The other thing with this Director of Football / Head Coach model, there has to be collective decision making & plenty of negotiation & give and take. Is this really the best way to organise the Footballing side of a club? I don't see that there is a significant advantage to this model over a Manager, Assistant Manager model.
  22. Good points there @Wheelbarrow repair man The communication has gone down hill since Jason's passing. But it didn't have to be this way. For me, effective communication by a football club has to be a priority. Public relations should always be important to a football club. It's not just the effectiveness of the communication, good communication can also have a big spin off for the club by increasing it's fanbase at home & abroad. Good communication can be a money spinner too.
  23. I think that communication between Club and the fan base is generally poor & needs to improve. Regular news about the B team, Academy & the Women's team is even poorer than the first team news. There are lots of things happening at a football club on a daily basis. I know it's not possible to report daily, but in the modern era we do have the Msmedia, Social Media: X, Facebook, What's App, & Blue Sky etc where the club can keep the fans informed. It's the same when reporting on the matches themselves. I've seen Non league teams have better reporting of matches minute by minute. I'd like to see a Person or persons responsible for the Clubs communication to be appointed, who could handle all those outlets I've just mentioned. A Club can foster good relations with it's fanbase by having good, regular communication, regarding it's off field & onfield operations.
