It appears that Tyrese is a versatile midfielder who is comfortable playing as a number 6, 8 or 10. His signing will give Notts lots of options in midfield. I do wonder if it will mean that Notts might release or send on loan and existing midfielder. Tyrese is the 11th signing of this transfer window & his recruitment once again demonstrates the owners intent for success at ML this season. One thing's for sure, if Tyrese is as good as George Abbott & he comes to Notts highly rated by Spurs? Notts have signed a good one

I agree @Sir Magpie that Tom Iorpenda played well in that first half. We all thought that it would be hard to replace George Abbott, but it does appear on this first league showing that he has slotted in well which is very encouraging.. He may not be the same type of player as George Abbott but he has a way of playing & style that could be very useful to Notts in the months ahead.

It's a well known fact that football teams tend to play much better at home in front of their own supporters, although I think Notts have bucked that trend over the last few seasons. I won't go into the advantages here because it's readily available on Google, but they do say that generally there is a psychological boost when playing at home due to the noise of the home supporters & if a team gets good away support. A big factor unconected to the club support, is the way Notts play as a possession based team & you get teams playing defensively against Notts at ML but they have to come out & attack Notts at their place, thus giving Notts more room to exploit. I think all of that is a big factor with how successful Notts are from match to match, but I do agree that support is equally important to Notts too, & we have the best supporters in the EFL so that does make a hell of a difference home & away.

I was very encouraged by the way the team played. I thought that the performance in the first half was very good. I think that the new players are settling in very well & as they train & play together they are only going to get better as they all gel together. I think Jodi has a good chance of making the number 10 spot his own if he can keep improving in that position. The early signs are looking good. I'm pleased that we came away with a draw, & it could have been even more. The next game against Salford at ML will be a much harder test & we will get an idea of where the team are.

It's a very good write up, however I would go further to say we don't have to compare the Club against any other because our Club is simply unique & our Club's uniqueness is beyond compare.

Notts County Women played Doncaster Belles in a friendly match at Coronation Park this Afternoon. Notts Women lost the match 2:4 but the final result didn't really reflect that fact that it was a very competitive match in the first half, with Notts having a few opportunities to finish the first half in the lead. Doncaster played better in the 2nd half, but Notts were right in the match till the last minute of the game when the Belles scored to make the game safe. Notts have had four excellent new signings this last week, two in the last 24 hours, so once all the new players have trained together, & hopefully jelled together, they will be ready for the first league match against Peterborough on 17th August at Coronation Park.

I agree no player is bigger than the Club. Don Masson, a Notts County Icon & voted by the fans as our best ever player, was sold to QPR for £100,000 in 1974. Due to inflation that would equate to £1,331,867 now. Every player has his price.
