  4. I think the club has to be in a sustainable place financially for several reasons. The Club has spent a substantial amount of money on the Ground infrastructure including the Hybrid SIS pitch. They've spent money converting a Warehouse into the Nest. They are improving the training facilities & are reportedly laying a Hybrid SIS pitch in conjunction with Nottingham University.
  5. This practice is perfectly legal & Everton are the third PL club to do it following Chelsea & Aston Villa, but is it really an ethical thing to be allowed to do? Today we have Morcambe with a real risk of them going out of business while this sort of transaction by Everton is allowed. Will the new football administrator look at all of these so called rules that allow this sort of thing or will it even be part of his remit.
  6. Everton SELL their own women's team to themselves to bolster transfer kitty as they eye Jack Grealish deal. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/36053561/everton-sell-womens-team-jack-grealish-transfer/

  8. There is a lot of wisdom in those words @Wheelbarrow repair man I think when most people think of the Vikings they tend to think of them as a war like people who raided other coastal settlements by sea in their longships as depicted in films like "The Long Ships" & "The Vikings" But when you delve into their history & culture you see they were very skilled craftsmen, fishermen & farmers, they were traders & they had a rich culture that included their own laws, art, & architecture. The Vikings were ruthless warriors, but they also practised many peaceful pursuits & they have certainly left their mark on European history & culture.
  9. Have you got any more of those Viking sayings @Wheelbarrow repair man ?
  10. A very sad state of affairs at Morecambe. Even at this late stage I hope that their problems can be resolved in a positive way, but the latest news isn't good.
  11. @Wheelbarrow repair man I've done some research on Hybrid SIS type pitches. Do you know 19 out of the 20 PL teams have hybrid SIS pitches. There is no info about how many league 2 sides have them. We know Notts has one. Another massive club, Barcelona, has a Hybrid SIS type pitch. It's great to have the best pitch money can buy & I can understand Notts wanting to have a pitch such as this, but why do it before the club has been promoted up the football pyramid? I also learned that Wrexham, at this very moment, are installing a similar pitch, but Wrexham have had two consecutive promotions. Of course we know they have more available funds for players than Notts have at this time, however it appears they made the judgement that the playing side should have the priority for a couple of seasons.
  12. @Fan of Big Tone No one's complaining. It's ok to make a point and foster debate. The owners reconstructed the pitch & improved the infrastructure of the ground, before the beginning of last season at considerable expense, which was out of sight compared to the cost of the players they bought in. So it was already apparent that the owners prioritised off the field improvements last season when it came to expenditure. As I said I understand their reasoning for completing the improvements & I am pleased they did, but I believe there should be a fine balance between on field and off field expenditure, & that is open for debate.
  13. I think we are talking about priorities here. The owners have invested a lot of money into the Club infrastructure which I welcome. The question is, do we all feel that the owners have the balance right between off the field expenditure against on the field expenditure? For example, the owners have invested in a Premier league level pitch with under soil heating which can be easily connected with additional cost. The crème de la crème of pitches. However, when it comes to recruiting players the owners are very frugal with their expenditure, such as not being able to agree a new contract with Didzy. & lots of free transfers arriving. I see what the owners are doing & can understand their reasoning, but there is room for legitimate debate because it's a very interesting balancing act that the owners are practising. As for me, I do wish that the owners would invite more investment from a third party to help boost the club's ability to bring in good players that may cost more than the owners are prepared to pay for.

  15. It was a fantastic result for the nation. The women's game is advancing in leaps and bounds. We have a Notts County Women's team that has had multiple promotions in recent years & are now in tier four of the Women's football pyramid. Hopefully after the success of the national team, women's football clubs around the Country will get more exposure & support.

  22. Unfortunately, I think it is becoming a fact of life that those clubs in the lower leagues that have the most financial backing are going to be successful. Just look at Macclesfield who won the Northern Premier League, Premier Division at a canter & are expected to do well in the National League North this season.
  23. It's interesting to know that William the Conqueror was descended from a Viking & his wife Matilda of Flanders was a descendent of the Saxon dynasty in Europe, so I suppose William's children could claim lineage from the major clans of the UK & Europe. Pity William Rufus was weak, but he was succeeded by his younger brother, Henry 1 who was a strong King.
  24. What a great end to a Sunday. The Lionesses have won the European Championship again. It's a fantastic performance by the ladies & what a lift for Women's Football in this Country. I'm sure that the Notts County Women are going to take great encouragement from this win, & hopefully will go on to have a successful season.
