To begin with Maynard, I was sceptical with his original appointment because I didn't think that he had the EFL experience to be able to succeed at a higher level, however he grew into the job & he did improve the Notts defence, & he had the evidence to prove it. He also managed to get Notts to the playoffs. I do feel that he was given a raw deal when he was sacked without getting the support that could have got Notts over the line. Then the brothers appointed a replacement then gave him lots of support, something Maynard didn't have. I do remember Maynard saying in post match interviews that Notts deserved a draw or a win when they actually lost. Was Maynard being told that the data showed Notts should have won when they drew or lost? I believe that data is not the be all or end all. I still believe the result doesn't always match up with dominating a match. The object is to keep the opposition from scoring & taking your own chances. The data could show that 10 players have played very well, but one player makes a mistake & gives the ball away which leads to conceding a goal. But for the rest of the game that player plays well too but the mistake was costly. When you look at teams like Wimbledon, Port Vale, & Doncaster, they weren't better footballing teams than Notts, but they just knew how to get a result even though they weren't the best team on the day I get what the brothers are trying to do, by making Notts more physical, meaner & a side that is prepared to graft results when necessary. I think that it could work, but whether the fan base will be patient with the transition is another matter. Because that style of football isn't always pretty. As far as the data is concerned, is Jodi Jones really in his best position according to data? I just don't agree with that notion. Jodi's best position is on the wings. The stats prove it.

There's definitely a fixed method for getting 5 stars regularly. Still haven't figured that out yet. One can hope but keep trying.

There is a significantly higher number of Football Managers in the EFL than there are Head Coaches with a Director of Football above them. Head Coaches are much more prevelent in the Premier League. Notts are in the minority when it comes to having a Manager as opposed to a Head Coach/ Director of Football. Personally, I prefer the traditional Manager role where the Manager has a broader scope of influence & responsibility, overseeing not just the team's performance but also the wider running of the club. I think that giving the Manager more responsibility gives the manager the ability to implement a unified club strategy, which is so important, the power to influence player acquisition & development through direct involvement in contracts & transfers, As far as recruitment is concerned, the Manager can delegate that responsibility to an Assistant Manager who would oversee the scouting personnel at the club. Managers can also delegate training, development & team tactics to a First Team Coach, however, the manager would be overseeing those operations & have overall responsibility. Some argue that a Manager has too much responsibility which takes his focus away from team operations, however the Manager can still delegate if he recruits competent staff that report to him.

Losing Didzy was a big loss, Jodi is being played in a position where he isn't going to play at his very best. Jodi is very dangerous for opposition on the wing. He got a record number of assists from that position. If it were me I would try Hall in the number 10 position & put Jodi back on the left wing If Paterson doesn't pick Jodi in the first eleven next Saturday against Crawley I will be very concerned. I also feel that having Norburn & Iorpenda in the same side, two defensive midfielders, isn't a good look for our attacking prowess. I want to see the Notts team on the front foot looking to score goals, not on the back foot trying to prevent goals.
