@Ash I agree about Paterson having the courage to change formation. Four at the back needs to be a strong option for Martin. We have plenty of defenders to give plenty of options at the back.

Wasn't he great when he was at Notts for those four appearances? I'm sure he would have made a big difference if we could have bought him. I contributed to the fund myself. It was a pity that we couldn't meet the asking price. I think he could have saved us from relegation that season. It's sad that he's no longer with us. Football misses him.

The third & final match of Notts County's Pre Season German tour sees them take on 4th tier club Stuttgarter Kickers on Tuesday 15th July at 6 pm. BST Head Coach Martin Paterson will be looking to finish the tour with a good performance & a positive result to lift the spirit of the players & the fans after being defeated in their previous two friendly games. I think Martin will want to see a composed & workmanlike performance from the lads this time. The lads will need to show plenty of energy & a steely determination to come out on top. Martin has been talking the talk, now it's time for his team to convert that positive talk into positive action on the field of play. I hope to see Jodi Jones get some time on the pitch & for Martin to begin to put together the team that he believes could be his strongest team available.

For me, a good club captain is a person who can command respect from his teammates, He will be a person who can inspire, motivate & unite his team & have an assertive personality. This person should have strong leadership skills, should have a positive attitude & be able to make good decisions under pressure. This person should have a good work ethic, excellent organisational skills & should be a good role model both on & off the field of play This person doesn't have to be necessarily the best player in the side but he needs to be someone who has been at the club for a few seasons at least & knows the club inside out. I do like Matt Palmer as a player & he does have many of the attributes I have described, however I don't think he is assertive enough as a football Captain. I also think his form has suffered to this he took on the role. I think Martin should choose his own Club Captain. I agree with some members that Matty Platt or Jacob Bedeau would be a good choice. For me the best candidate for Club Captain left the Club, David McGoldrick, who had the most of, if not all the attributes I mentioned. As Club Captain he would have got a pay rise anyway, so I will never fathom why both parties couldn't have come to an agreement.

Good evening all. It's been hot today but a little cooler than yesterday. It's still 79 deg F in the house at 9:45pm. It's going to be hot like that for a few days with the house bricks still very warm. All the fans are blazing away again which makes it a little less uncomfortable. Has anyone been watching the Live Aid footage on the BBC. I taped some of the day 40 years ago, Still got the tape but don't know whether it still works. Highlight for me was the Dire Straits concert with Guest Eric Clapton. Pleased to see an all British pairing won the Wimbledon Mens doubles title for the first time since 1936. No worries @super_ram you haven't upset Mrs Robbie. & yes, she's a native New Yorker & she's a New York Mets Baseball team fan. But she doesn't like American Football. She used to go to Mets games with her family before we met. I knew some of the Baseball terms but Jumbotron I didn't know.
