  1. I met my first wife at the Palais in Nottingham in early 1975. The live group were playing the Bachman Turner Overdrive song "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" There are lots of things you forget in your lifetime, but you never forget a first meeting like that. The song has always been one of my favourites. Those were very happy memories. Sadly our marriage didn't last, however our legacy together are three wonderful children, & now with three grandchildren.

  8. Chelsea have made it to the final of the Club World Cup in the United States.
  9. So MPs have voted to back the Football Governance Bill and establish an independent regulator to oversee the men's game in England's top five divisions . Thie Bill is set to become law now, & I think it will be great for English football. Hopefully this new independent regulator will prevent the possibility of the sad situations that clubs like Bury & Macclesfield found themselves in when those original clubs went out of business. I'm not saying that the Football Regulator will prevent every single club from getting into financial trouble in the short term, but once the Regulator is in post & gets established, the instances of clubs going into receivership should reduce over time & hopefully will disappear altogether.
  10. You have made an important point @menzinho about Traoré being able to travel but not Jatta. Traoré played for a Norwegian club prior to him coming to Notts. Jatta played for a Danish Club, so it is strange that one was allowed & the other not. All I can think is there must be something else that prevented him going.
  11. It's sad that Jatta hasn't been able to go, but the B team will benefit that's for sure. I've already seen the negative speculation on social media, which isn't surprising. We all know how Jatta will play anyway so it will be an opportunity for Traore & Dennis to show what they can do without Jatta in the side.
  12. I do like the new kit. I think it will sell very well. It may not be to everyone's taste though, & I take @DangerousSausage point that it does look like a keeper's shirt.
  13. A hosepipe ban has been declared by Yorkshire Water due to the dry spring & summer. The ban will be effective from 11th July. It is very possible that the other Water Companies will follow suit.

  16. It appears to me that if Notts are looking to bring in another defender, it could result in one of our existing defenders being be sold on. Notts are very coy when it comes to releasing any information on interest from other clubs regarding their players. There may have already been interest shown for the Notts centre backs who all helped improve the Notts defence to a significant degree. Could it be that Notts are going to be in a period of consolidation this season regarding finance? Considerable amounts of money have been spent on the Nest, Ground infrastructure & training facilities. Somehow I'm beginning to think we won't see a big money signing being recruited. I hope I'm proved wrong.
  17. It's going to start getting warmer again check out your Tuesday Weather 4cast.
  18. I would love to see young players like James Sanderson given a chance to play in the first team. That goes for Riley Reynolds too. The Notts academy players already know & practise the Notts style of playing every week in training, under 18 & B team matches, so that's another good reason to give them an opportunity in the first team. If just one young player makes it through to being a first team regular each season it would be a great Philip for the academy & it would attract more of the young talent around the Country or even from abroad. I think that the EFL could encourage Clubs to put academy players on the substitutes bench for first team games, by increasing the players on the bench from 7 to 9, with a stipulation that two of the players are academy players. A young player can only break through into the first team if the Head Coach has the confidence & belief to give that player a chance. I do hope that Martin Paterson will have those traits.
