I'm pleased how the Notts stuck to their task of protecting their small lead when they were under pressure during the last 25 minutes or so. If Notts can continue to show that determination, & doggedness when it's required combined with a bit of quality upfront front, I think it could encourage everyone that Notts do have the opportunity for success this season.- "Notts don't have to play well to win anymore"
@The Anti-Clough I agree that it works well with Stall onboard where you have maybe two differing opinions & with Paul asking the questions. I think he's testing the water to see how this particular podcast goes. His match previews are first class but this could be a podcast too far.- FAWNL Cup Group Stage: Sheffield FC v Notts County Women.
Last word from Manager Adam Dunleavy.- Who's your Man of the Match v Fleetwood?
Just one thing I think I overlooked was that I thought Roos played his best game between the sticks for Notts. I do think that he is improving & the clean sheet was a good pointer to that improvement.- Is Winning All That Matters?
If a team aims to be successful, it has to win lots of football matches & avoid defeat against the other top teams in the league. No team is ever going to play well for 46 games of the season. Maybe a third or more of those games they won't be allowed to play well. Those are the games where a successful team finds a way to win. That's why it's very important to have a sold defence & central midfield, with a competent goalkeeper behind them. And yes, I believe winning is more important than the performance, but if the team keeps winning whether they play well or not is still the sign of a great team. Great teams find a way to win when the going is tough & they have been totally outplayed in games. And Notts were on the recieving end of exactly that on several occasions last season.- "Notts don't have to play well to win anymore"
I welcome the subtle changes. I loved the all attacking style under Luke Williams, but I do think the owners have recognised that to get out of League 2 a side has to be much more unpredictable, & a little more unpleasant to the opposition at times to get positive results. Possession isn't the b all or end all in League 2. It's what you do with it when you have it, & when it's time to defend or protect a lead a team has to resort to all the tricks to brake up play, waste time, & to disrupt the flow of the game as much as possible. And I like the fact that Notts seem to be going more direct this season. It's better to have surprise in your locker than being constantly predictable.- FAWNL Cup Group Stage: Sheffield FC v Notts County Women.
Final Score A win for Notts Women Sheffield FC 0 Notts 2- Who's your Man of the Match v Fleetwood?
Notts were on the defensive for those last 25 minutes or so of the match & I thought that the defensive unit did very well in that period when usually Notts have conceded a goal. For me, McDonald stood above the rest. Sometimes playing mean & ugly can reap rewards.- FAWNL Cup Group Stage: Sheffield FC v Notts County Women.

@super_ram guessing correctly is part of the game & you are executing it with skill & precision.- "Notts don't have to play well to win anymore"
An excellent podcast from Paul Mace this morning. It's well worth a viewing. He discusses an excellent point made by a supporter that Notts don't have to play well to win anymore. "Winning ugly" is better than playing great football but still losing. Wimbledon, Bradford, & Port Vale won promotion by playing ugly & they got promoted but Notts didn't. Do PON members think that getting a win is more important than playing well & dominating possession but failing to win. Has there been a subtle change in the Notts footballing philosophy under Martin Paterson? Do you all think a change such as this can be successful & would you welcome it.- Match Discussion: League Two - Fleetwood Town (A)
FYI, Notts player ratings according to whoscored.com Jatta, Roos, & Dennis scored high, followed by Iorpenda, Tsaroula & McDonald.- Wordle
Wow @super_ram Your elevated to Genius status with that one.- FAWNL Cup Group Stage: Sheffield FC v Notts County Women.
Notts Women travel to fellow Division 1 team, (4th tier) Sheffield FC Women today for their 2nd group stage match of this season's League Cup competition. Kick off 2pm. In their previous Group match, Notts Women lost to tier 3 side, Derby County Women. Notts will be hoping to get a win today to have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stage.- Yeovil Town v York City
I still can't help but feel that if Stuart Maynard could have been given the support that Martin Paterson now enjoys re coaching staff & Technical Board he would have been ok at Notts. The players liked him & it could have been possible that Didzy might have stayed if Maynard was still Head Coach. Just a three or four quality additions might have made a big difference for Stuart this season.- Match Discussion: League Two - Fleetwood Town (A)
Dennis is clinical- Football Regulator
@Piethagoram Good luck in putting foreign owners in prison such as those from the middle East & United States. I doubt that they would be extradited due to geopolitical reasons. A massive fine or debarment would probably be the only punishment for many international owners.- Weather Updates
