Good evening. It's been a decent day weather wise. It's still warm inside the house at 10 pm. Had to have the plumber to fix the toilet cistern this afternoon. He replaced the workings in the cistern. Nothing to pay because we have plumbing & drainage cover with our energy supplier. Good news at Wimbledon Tennis.We have 2 players in the last sixteen at Wimbledon, one in the ladies singles & one in the men's. Looking forward to the Notts friendly match at Alfreton. Their new signing will hopefully be playing in the game.

@True Magpie They probably will survive but as another phoenix club that will be put into the 9th or 10th tier of the football pyramid. I hope that situation can still be avoided

An interesting signing by Notts, a pacy right footed winger that can play on both flanks & play as a wingback too. He has a very long throw which could be very useful. Head Coach Martin Paterson must have had a hand in his signing as he worked with Barry as Assistant Head Coach at Barnsley. Not surprised that Notts have gone for a loan signing once again. If he can be as successful as George Abbott was during his loan period last season with Notts, Barry will have been a great signing. He certainly gives Notts more strength in depth & if the signing is cleared by the EFL he will be playing against Alfreton tomorrow. Notts had trouble getting behind opposition defenders last season so with his outstanding pace, & with the right service, that will change. This is an encouraging signing, & hopefully Notts will sign a midfield playmaker & another striker before the league season starts.

Match thread. Alfreton Town v Notts County The first friendly match of the season for Notts kicks off at 3pm 05/07/25. No doubt Notts will have some trialists playing in the team & there will be plenty of substitutions during the match. Will be interesting who will play in goal now that Alex Bass has left.

Very well put together article & a good read too @allardyces tash . I think the most important thing at the moment is to bring in a quality goalkeeper that can command his area, direct is defensive colleagues, & can deal with crosses from open play & dead ball situations. I believe Notts still have a quality squad, but it needs a goalie as I've described, an attacking midfielder who is a good playmaker & another proven goalscorer. Without the additions, Notts would struggle to make at least the playoffs, but I still believe they would be good enough to be mid table without a playmaker or goalscorer, but they certainly need a competent goalie. I think the owners will make those additions in those areas I've described, I would be surprised if they didn't. Even with those additions, a playoff place is a more realistic expectation. I hope the fans get behind the owners, their management team, as well as the players. The Reedtz brothers have done so much for this club they deserve our support & trust.

Shocking news to digest this morning. His brother was also killed in the accident. Many condolences to his family, friends & colleagues. May he & his brother rest in peace.

The Captains have shook hands & the game ends in a draw. There was no chance of either team winning. Somerset finish on 238 for 4 Dec a lead of 208 runs. Notts take 12 points from the game.
