  1. Teams that have a slender lead always try to waste time by trying to slow the game down with all sorts of negative tactics. Some of those well known tactics include, feigning injury, committing lots of fouls to break up play, falling over at every opportunity, substituting players with just a minute or so to go, & taking the ball to the opponents corner flag to waste time. At the end of the day it worked in England's favour with the extra time that was played. You would think that teams would stop doing this, but it's been part of the game as long as I can remember, & I don't believe it will ever change

  3. I used to look forward to getting the Football post every Saturday evening, that used to have great coverage of Notts after every Saturday match. It was a great publication, a great read & had a great following. It was sad when it ceased publication in 1999. Is it really 26 years ago.
  4. In his interview with Paul Mace, Martin did reveal that he is still assessing a few players when deciding which eleven will be his best available. I do agree with @Fan of Big Tone that Notts will be more aggressive & tough tackling this season. I think that trait is required to fully compete with those physical teams in League 2.

  7. The last of the pre season friendly matches sees Notts host League one Cardiff City at Meadow Lane on Saturday 26th July, kick off 3pm. This will be another good test for Notts against League one opposition. The type of match that Martin Paterson will welcome. I think it will be an opportunity for Martin to play what he believes will be his strongest side available from his current 26 man squad

  9. There's a football click and bait story every single day on Google. Most of it is just pure speculation, but the headline is written in such a way that gets the clicks clicking. We know that Jatta is going to have interest from home & abroad & he will have a price that the owners of Notts could well accept if it's the right offer. There's just one little problem, Jatta's 5 match ban which I'm sure will reduce the interest & also reduce his value. The owners won't sell it the offer is too low.
  10. So it is going to be England v Spain in the final, a repeat of the World Cup Final of 2023.It will be a very tough match. Can the England women gain revenge?
  11. What I picked up from this excellent interview by Paul Mace accompanied by Mark Stallard was that the current Notts squad is not the finished article as far as Martin is concerned. Notts are still looking to bring players in for areas that have been identified as needing players that can improve the squad. I picked up that all options are open regarding the make up of the final squad to take us up to the Jan window.
  12. A very good interview of Martin Paterson. Well worth a look.
  13. You bring up an interesting point @Wheelbarrow repair man about the Reedtz brothers possibly selling the Club I think that the Reedtz brothers were just what the club wanted to put the club on an even keel financially. Their football knowledge along with their Football Radar Company has helped to bring the club success & returned the club to where they belong. I wouldn't like to lose all of what the owners have brought to the club. I do however think that the club needs an additional investor who can put some additional funds into the club to take it to the next level. Whether the present owners would welcome that sort of arrangement is another thing. I believe that their plans for success is a more long term project rather than what we've seen at Wrexham for example. They have their way of managing the club & it's finances & I think they will stick to it.
  14. We reach the end of the days play with no breakthrough for Notts. Hampshire finish on 80 for 0

  20. The Club has invested in a new pitch, ground infrastructure, the Nest, & the Highfields Sports Complex with the University of Nottingham, which will have taken quite a lot of financing. But I do agree @Wheelbarrow repair man that although it is important to invest in the future off the pitch, it is very important to invest in improving the team too. Success on the pitch will bring in more revenue for the club, & promotion would take the club to another level financially. We still have around a couple of weeks before the start of the season, & I'm hopeful that the club will strengthen the side by using some of the cash from the players sold. We also know that the cash from transfers don't come in all at once. Many transfers are paid for over months & sometimes years whether it's monies received or paid out. We know how careful the brothers are with the Notts finances. But that shouldn't stop the brothers buying suitable players if they become available. Let's see what happens over the next few weeks.
