I agree @Chris One thing Lee Carsley had was time working with the FA regarding the under 21s, he also had the experience of working as an international manager all beit with the junior team. There is a big difference between being a club manager & an international manager, & Tuchel might not suit it for all we know. For all the criticism that Gareth Southgate had, he did serve his apprenticeship with the under 21s, & when the time came he moved up to the senior team very smoothly, & became one of the successful England Managers.

There are a few more I could mention that would make good loo roll, like the Mirror & the Guardian, but I'll stick with the loo roll.

So Tuchel isn't starting the job of England Manager till January 2025. Who's going to lead England till then? England have two matches to play before then. Someone will have to pick a team & lead them into those games. This is very strange.

I am surprised that he's been appointed because he doesn't seem the sort of chap that will accept being a yes man to the FA. I've read up on him, & he seems to be a strict disciplinarian & can be divisive too. I read in the spectator that he had bust ups with players & higher ups. So it will be interesting how the FA's relationship with him will develop & how the England players warm to him. There is no doubt that he is an excellent coach, & a successful one at that. He knows all the England players well, & will be familiar with many top players in the PL Now he's been chosen I think we need to all get behind him & give him a chance. World Cup qualification will be his focus, then hopefully winning the tournament.

So the FA have got their man. Is Thomas Tuchel the right man to take England to the next level by winning an international trophy? Tuchel will have the choice of picking some of the biggest names in world football. Will he be able to hone them into a great team to take on the best in the World? The FA think so. Do you?

@Wheelbarrow repair man I think you'll most likely see McDonald coming on as a substitute, then start in the FA Cup, & EFL trophy match to build up his fitness before he makes a start in a league match.

@Wheelbarrow repair man Even though the defence have improved no end since last season, Notts are still conceding goals. If Stuart is seeking continuous improvement, it should follow that he will surely try to improve the defence even more. It could mean replacing Macari with McDonald seeing that McDonald is regarded as an excellent centre back.

Good news for Notts, Rod McDonald & Lucas Ness are coming back to match fitness & in Rod McDonald's case, he is available for selection. Up till now, Stuart Maynard has had a settled back line for the first ten games, Lewis Macari, Jacob Bedeau, & Matty Platt have done superbly, with Rob Cundy filling in off the bench Stuart McDonald has impressed Stuart when playing for Notts in two EFL trophy games & Lucas Ness impressed playing his first 45 minutes of the season in the 2nd of those games. There has been talk of McDonald replacing Macari in the first 11. Question. Do PON members think Stuart should make a change to the back three for the upcoming games or stick with the three defenders who have performed well of late?
