Notts welcome Burton to Meadow Lane still looking for their first win of the season, after two creditable draws against Leicester & Luton. Burton have had a good start including a win at Leicester City in their last match, so they will be full of confidence going into this game against the Magpies. Burton finished in 17th place last season on 54 points. Their record was 13 wins, 15 draws & 18 defeats. They scored 50 goals & conceded 60 over the League season. Burton were undefeated in their last 5 games winning 1 & drawing 4 of those matches. Burton have carried that unbeaten run into this season being unbeaten so far. Burton have been strengthening their squad over the summer, their new signings include defender Harvey Araujo from Fulham, Striker Matt Dennis from Notts, defender Curtis Tilt from Bradford, & winger Emeka Adiele on loan from FC Utrecht. Dennis will be particularly keen to do well against Notts on Saturday. Notts go into the game with a long injury list of 9 players on the sidelines. Head Coach Martin Paterson will be hoping that some of these players will be close to returning. The Club are still looking to bring in new players before the window closes on the 1st Sept. Burton have changed their style of play somewhat since Paterson managed them & they now focus on a modern, patient style of play focused on possession and build-up from the back. So it will be interesting to see how Notts handle this match. Will they continue with the tactics they showed against Leicester & Luton? I don't think it's going to be an easy game. Burton have showed that they are capable of beating very good sides, so Notts need to remain tight at the back, focused for the whole of the game, & continue with their ball dominant, possession based identity with a heavy injection of defensive structure, intensity, directness & hard pressing style. I think that Notts can get the win tomorrow. It will all depend on how they start the game. I think the first goal will be very important. Hopefully it will be another large crowd to cheer the Magpies on & they can be the 12th man for Notts on the day. My prediction is 2:1 Notts.

I like the way that the Club is trying to market the new pink kit, but somehow I just don't think it is going to be popular. I'm sure they could have come up with a better colour. Can't imagine a Notts away end full of pink.

Seems to have settled down now and the water is starting to drain away Notice the Cricket is doing very well across the Country because of the rain. The positive thing is that the Reservoirs will be getting a feed of much needed water. Although, I'm sure the news media won't mention it.
