  1. Looking forward to the match. Notts need to carry on with the form they showed from the Grimsby match into the Swindon game. Showing good consistency is the key to success. The team that played Grimsby picks itself, however If Robertson isn't fit, Hinchy can replace him. Key areas for Notts, combatting crosses from corners, free kicks, & in open play from the flanks. Keep concentrating at the beginning of each half and in injury time of each half. Would be great to keep the unbeaten run going. I'm hoping for are 2:1 or 3:1 win. A clean sheet & a win would be even better.
  2. Good Morning. It is Wednesday Morning. It's overcast but a little milder than of late here, no wind. Rain was forecast for overnight, but we never got any. Looks like I'll be watering some of the plants today. Received my new paper shredder last night, so will try it out today. Have much to shred, however will need to use the shredder sparingly because these small shredders are best when they are used half an hour at a time. Ordered our weekly food delivery for this morning so that will be another job ticked off for the week. Just the hallway waiting now to give the once over to complete the "spring cleaning", let's call it the late summer cleaning.
  3. Your Wednesday Weather for the day.
  4. Macca played a full 90 minutes tonight. Millwall lost 0:1 to Orient in the League Cup. The way Millwall play, they are not getting the best out of Macca. Bring him home Notts.
  5. Found this on the web too. Did you know? Before 1891 only an indirect free kick could be awarded if an outfield player prevented a goal by hand balling it. Notts County helped create the penalty kick In February 1891, a Notts County player committed a blatant handball in the area to save a goal in the FA Cup Quarter Final against Stoke City. After this, & similar incidents in Scotland & Ireland, the idea of sorting it out with a penalty kick was born.
  6. @liampie Howard Wilkinson spent the vast majority of his playing career with Boston United after a spell with Brighton. He was successful as a Manager. He started his career at Notts and became a coach under Jimmy Sirrel, before taking over from Jimmy and keeping Notts in the First Division with a fifteenth place He moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 1983 & got them promoted to the first Division at his first attempt & kept them in the top tier for four years with a high of fifth place. In 1988 he moved to Leeds where he had his biggest success, getting promoted to the first Division, then winning the last Division 1 championship with Leeds in 1991/92 before it became the PL. He Managed England U 21 & had two spells as England Caretaker Manager. Wilkinson was good at building teams. More on his career here???? Howard Wilkinson - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  7. The game against Swindon in their current form will be a good opportunity for Notts to get a much needed win on the road. Notts need to concentrate on what they are doing best themselves, by staying tight at the back and just play the way they did against Grimsby. Every side is going to pose a threat and Swindon will be no different, but I'm sure other clubs in the Division will have seen the Notts performance against Grimsby, & as a result, clubs, including Swindon will be weary of us. I'm hoping for a positive result against Swindon.
  8. Did you know, one substitution for an injured player was allowed in English league football for the first time, from the beginning of the 1965/66 season? Goalkeeper Mick Rose, who made 109 appearances for Notts between 1967 &1970, became the first ever player to be substituted for an injury sustained in a match (21/08/65) when he played for Charlton. He was replaced by Keith Peacock who became the first substitute to replace an injured player. Only injured players were allowed to be substituted during the first two seasons following the introduction of substitutions. But it became apparent, that some players were feigning injury so a tactical substitution could be made. The authorities caught on, and from the start of the 1967/68 season, the rule was changed to allow a substitution either for an injury, or for tactical reasons.
  9. Your Tuesday Afternoon Weather
  10. With the sad passing of Sven yesterday, looking through social media, I was reminded that Sven, Big Sam & Howard Wilkinson have all been England Managers. Three England Managers who all happened to be good Club Managers who, during their careers were also associated with Notts, at different times, over the last forty two years. Not many league clubs can say that they had three Managers who were also Manager of England.
  11. Good Morning. An overcast morning here in Mansfield and a a bit windy too. Ordered a paper shredder to be delivered today. Our old shredder gave up the ghost yesterday. This one says it can shred 6 pages at a time whereas my old one was just one This one has an overheat cut out too like the old one. Will be looking to remove some of the old flowers from the pots in the garden today too, depending on whether it stays fine or not.
  12. Your Tuesday Morning Weather
  13. Just looked for it. Looks like it's an unreliable source and very old too.
  14. Just a proud Grandfather come to watch his Grandson who is certainly making a difference in the Notts defence. Hope we see much more of Lou during the season. I'm sure he loved the atmosphere on Thursday night.
  15. I've gone for Alassana Jatta for this month, because the Strikers have been under a lot of pressure since Macca left. However, I think that Jatta has stepped up to the plate and grasped the striker's mantle for Notts. It was very close between Dan, Jodi & Alassana, & either Dan or Jodi could have deserved my vote at any other time. But Jatta has shown that he is a very versatile player up front & gives Notts new options in that important area. He is currently a worthy replacement for Macca. Long may it continue.
  16. I thought that Robots were all of the four legged type or had wheels to move about. Didn't realise that two legged Robots were being made that can balance themselves easily. And they are independent with 2 to 5 hour power packs is another surprise. I'm concerned @Christhat these Robots will be used for military use, instead of for the good. What if the Robot software is hacked into? And what will we see in 10 to 20 years? It's a bit scary to contemplate such things.
  17. @liampie I extended my fixed tariff a few days ago so we will save getting the increase at least till next August. But many customers cannot get a fixed tariff, so it will be tough for them.
  18. Congratulations to the leaders, seems It's a bit heavy holding you all up above me. I'll have to up my game. Time to look at the form tables me thinks.
  19. I was so sad to learn of Sven's passing today. His time at Notts County will never be forgotten. It was a tremendous time to be a supporter of Notts in his time here. Him being here allowed us all to dream of great things to come for Notts, but it wasn't to be in the end. His passing is a big loss to football, and I give my condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace Sven.
  20. So very sad to hear this news RIP Sven.
