Barry Cotter on his way? edit Cotter has now signed for Derry City!
Pity he didn't make the grade for us. Martin prefers a type of player that can give quality but also graft & show lots of commitment on the training ground. Hopefully he will see success at his new club. I'm a little bit concerned that Enoru has only seen about 20 minutes of first team action since he came to Notts. He has only been used in the one game. I do hope he's given another opportunity soon.

Contenders
I hope to believe that another 4 wins will see Notts assured of a playoff place, which I think should be the first priority. Once a place in the playoffs are assured a further four wins giving us 85 points in total should be enough for a promotion place I think Cambridge & MK Dons will be promoted. Hopefully we will get the third place. I think Bromley will be in the playoffs.

Who's your Man of the Match v Tranmere?
The Poll has now closed. Thanks to all who voted. I'm pleased to announce that Lee Ndlovu has been voted the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match v Tranmere. Well done Lee.

Cedwyn Scott
Nice to see Cedwyn Scott doing well at South Shields in the National League North. Cedwyn has scored 15 goals for them in just 25 league games this season. South Shields are doing well & have a great chance of promotion. They currently stand in 2nd place & are competing with Fylde who are in 1st place.

My Man of the Match is Lee Ndlovu. He made all the difference.

All the five Notts goals today.

Who's your Man of the Match v Tranmere?
A great Notts win where they dominated & put Tranmere to the sword especially in that 2nd half. Biggest win for Martin Paterson since he became the Notts Head Coach. So who's your Notts Man of the Match today. It might be a difficult decision good luck in making your choice. The players who I have chosen are, Belshaw, Macari Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Norburn, Robertson,Jones, Kouhyar, Iorpenda, Ndlovu, Grant, Dennis.

Match Discussion: League Two - Tranmere Rovers (H)
Brilliant, brilliant win for Notts. A big demolition job of Tranmere with 4 goals in the 2nd half. So pleased for Lee Ndlovu that he's off the mark & got a brace for Notts. Another goal for Dennis, now 14 for the season. Notts have been threatening to do this to a team since they started on their winning run at home. It's their biggest win for a season and a half. It's not just the impressive win, the Notts play was exquisite today, which makes the win even more impressive. Of the other results today, Salford and Swindon lost, Chesterfield drew, so Notts are now 9 points ahead of Salford in eighth place. TEN CLEAN SHEETS FOR NOTTS THIS SEASON.

14 matches to go. What can we expect this season?
I think that Notts are in a good position to clinch a playoff place, but I'm not sure that we have quite enough to get an automatic place. In this league I just don't think that you can get an automatic place by playing a purely passing game. We've seen Notts get results recently by working hard, matching other teams for physicality, staying organised, grinding out results. & producing a few moments of quality upfront. Take the game against Shrewsbury as an example. If Notts had gone more direct & roughed the Shrewsbury players up a bit, they might have been more successful. Notts have shown that they can play direct when it's necessary. They should continue to keep that as an option.

Match Discussion: League Two - Tranmere Rovers (H)
Tranmere come to Meadow Lane having lost four of their last 5 matches which includes just 1 win. Tranmere currently stand in 17th place in League 2 on 35 points. They have won 9, drawn 8 & lost 15 of their 32 matches. Notts beat Tranmere 2:1 earlier in the season in the away fixture at Prenton Park. Notts will be hoping to return to winning ways after their dissapointing defeat at Shrewsbury. Notts will be waiting on the fitness of Jatta, & Palmer. Scott Robertson will be available for selection after his one match ban for a 2nd yellow card against Bromley. Tranmere are another team in League 2 that prefer the direct approach with accurate long passes & plenty of crosses into the box. They have a high energy, high intensity approach so Notts will have to match them across the pitch. As with every league 2 match, Notts will have to be at their best, which they certainly weren't against Shrewsbury. Notts have found it difficult to score goals, just winning recent matches by the odd goal. I would like to see Notts put in a commanding performance on Saturday & score some goals & hopefully win by a canter. A 3:0 scoreline would be very welcome.

Match Discussion: League Two - Shrewsbury Town (A)
@theAnticlough I'm not wanting a fundamental change of approach. What I'm envisaging is for Notts to counter the way some teams like we saw Shrewsbury doing, getting all their players behind the ball & allowing Notts plenty of possession but being successful in stopping Notts getting through them with any worthwhile penetration. It happened quite a lot last season & the season before, & nether Luke or Stuart could solve it. Notts have shown how good they are on the break. Sometimes a team has to adapt to different situations & try something different for that particular match up.

Match Discussion: League Two - Shrewsbury Town (A)
Notts had 73% possession & these stats from the BBC are revealing. Notts were back to their fault of lots of passes (615) but no penetration. Most of the time Martin gets it right but on this occasion he lost the tactical battle. Why not force teams like Shrewsbury to make the pace & hit them on the break?

Sometimes pretty football doesn't work well in this league..It needs something a little different. We've got away with it in several matches this season, but we've been found out a little tonight, and I'm sure other teams will be taking note

Who's your Man of the Match v Shrewsbury?
A dissapointing result for Notts tonight losing their unbeaten run to an improving Shrewsbury side under their new Head Coach. So who is your Notts player that was better than the rest. I have chosen the first eleven players for you to make your choice. Those players are, Belshaw, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Norburn, Iorpenda, Jones, Grant, Tangen, Dennis

Match Discussion: League Two - Shrewsbury Town (A)
Need to give the Shrewsbury HC credit for this result. He got his tactics absolutely right so fair play to him. It was like the Brackley match all over again. It's clear Notts have still not solved how to counter the aerial threat of teams, and we saw again tonight the packing of their defence by the opposition & trying to hit Notts on the break, & looking for Notts mistakes working for them. It's clear Tangen is a flair player, but it needed more physicality by Notts tonight. We have seen once again, like what happened under Maynard, that pretty football doesn't work all the time against those teams in League 2 that employ these tactics. We need to move on but try to learn from this defeat.& Notts need Jatta back asap otherwise we will suffer in his absence.

It could have been worse but only Swindon and Chesterfield won in the top eight. Notts still eight points clear of eighth place.
