- Weekend Chat - Fri 5th - Sun 7th July
I'll be spending time in the garden this morning cutting the grass. Didn't look at any news for the last 48 hours. Switched on the news briefly this morning for the election results. Now it's back to what's important, family & home. Looking forward to the England match and the other Quarter finals at the Euros this weekend. Other than the gardening & watching the Euros, haven't got any other plans yet, but I'm sure something will crop up. It's always does.- Cartoon Corner.

- Financial shenanigans surrounding transfers of young players?
Another big point here is that the big clubs are taking a lot of the young talent even though they have no intention of playing them. These young footballers are then farmed off to the lower divisions as loanees to make money from them. Young players should be allowed to improve, as they used to do in the past, with the clubs where they learned their trade & would get lots of football time. Players like David Needham & Brian Kilcline, who did their apprenticeship with Notts and went on to win Silverware with Forest (Needham) and Coventry (Kilcline).- Tennis. Brit Watch.
Cam Norrie breezes into round three at Wimbledon.- Nottingham Victoria insights
I remember as a boy going to Victoria and Midland Stations with my Dad to look at the Steam Locomotives. You could buy a Platform ticket then and stay as long as you liked Train spotting. I can remember being so excited to see the trains. Would have loved a mobile phone to take loads of photos. When you think about how much it costs to lay a mile of track nowadays, and they tore up thousands of miles of track after Beeching, you do wonder how they could have made such a massive mistake closing down all those lines.- Where are they now : Ed Francis
It's a good opportunity for Ed. He had a great season for Gateshead & the Gateshead supporters were sorry to see him go. It's a big step up but I'm sure Ed will excel at his new Club & I wish him luck for the new season.- San Sirrel's pitch looking fab
- England v Switzerland: Pre & Post Match Analysis.
Problem for England during the last dozen matches or so is the propensity to go defensive then for the defence & midfield to go deeper & deeper, after we have scored a goal. We did it against Slovakia after Kane had scored early in extra time, & for the next 25 minutes England were on the back foot. We just can't do that against the better teams like Switzerland, otherwise England will be punished. I don't know where this tactic came from, but ultimately, Southgate has to take responsibility. It is now certainly ingrained into this current team, & it will be very hard to remove it.- Job cuts at Man Utd
More justification for a Transfer and Salary cap for football players.- Tiernan to Gateshead?
This is a complete surprise for me. I thought Notts were grooming him to be an eventual number one? Obviously not. So are we going to have another goalkeeper coming in to fight for the number one slot? I hope so.- Tennis. Brit Watch.
Harriet Dart wins the battle of the Brits.- Macca to Millwall?
@Chris I would rather Notts reject all the bids and keep Macca at least another season so he can help us get promoted.- England v Switzerland: Pre & Post Match Analysis.
Could this be true? Would be very surprised if it is. Southgate isn't known to be a radical type Manager.- Macca to Millwall?
If this is true Notts could accept the bid. £2.6 million is a fair amount.- Ticket pricing update
I think offering a membership is a good thing for those who cannot afford a season ticket. I think membership will be popular with lots of casual supporters. Being a member gives a sense of belonging similar to a season ticket. And of course it will give a discount too. It's a good move by the Club in my opinion. Will be interesting to see the number of memberships sold before the season begins. I guess it could be 3 to 5K.- Jokers Wild: Joke Of The Day.
