Notts Alumni: Iain McCulloch
Really nice article about Iain McCulloch. Iain was one of the Notts County greats and was one of my favourite players in the early 1980s along with his partner up front, Trevor Christie. Iain top scored for Notts in consecutive seasons in the top flight. His career ended to early through injury.

Mick Vinter scored some very important goals for us. He was a very good servant to our club. Very sorry to hear that he had died.

Luke Williams on Nurturing Notts County’s Future Star, James Sanderson: ‘I’m Very Enthusiastic About What He Could Achieve'
James Sanderson looks to be a very good young player and will learn a lot from the being around the first team squad.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
@Fozzy I agree. Doncaster were very poor. We got away with some poor play ourselves at the back again today. We will be punished by Morecambe if we do the same on Friday.

Goals : Notts v Donny
The build up play today was truely sensational and back to what we have been used to over the last 12 months. Let's keep it going lads. Dan Crowley, what an acquisition he has turned out be. His nack of being at the right place at the right time is another great aspect of his game. Didzy & Macca at their best today too.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
Agree. Much better performance but still the continuing problems in defence and goalie position, fortunately we got away with it today. Still awaiting January window which will be pivotal to where we finish at the end of the regular season.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
Agree. We look much more sprightly in attack today. Didzy was superb today. We still need strengthening in defense, midfield & also a covering goalkeeper in January.

Match Discussion: Game 25 - The Shrimps (H)
Following on from our vital win against Doncaster and a confidence boosting clean sheet combined with another very good display from the lads, I would continue with the same team against the Shrimps and look for another similar performance. Morecambe will provide a much tougher opposition on Friday than Doncaster and we will need to be on our guard defensively for the 100 possible minutes. Macaulay has got his goal today, so he will feel much better for that after his 4 match goal draught, so in attack, we just need to keep doing what we are doing. Our goal total stands on 48 in the league, so Notts have proved that time and time again that attacking is not our problem. I'm predicting a 2:1 win against a very organised Morecambe side.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
A dominating performance today. Important clean sheet. Confidence boosting win, although Doncaster very poor. Morecambe will prove much tougher on Friday night. And what a stat, 100 goals scored in 2023. Back up the 5th in the table. Onwards and upwards.

Jim O’Brien Celebrates Notts County’s Resilience in Victory Over Crawley Town
Really good article on Jim. Jim has been a key figure in our recent successes due to his adaptability & flexibility to cover a variety of different positions on the pitch when he was called upon.

Match Discussion: Game 24 - Rovers (H)
Hi it's Boxing day Match day. Notts v Doncaster. Can Notts County get a vital 3 points at home to Doncaster Rovers? A good Boxing Day crowd is expected generating a good atmosphere. What will be the key areas to achieve the win today? Can Macaulay get on the score sheet today? Can we keep a clean sheet? I'm going for a 3:1 win today to get us back on track in our bid to climb up that table again. Thoughts?

The Highs and Lows of Notts County’s National League Years: Overcoming Adversity
I'm a newbie and have just got round to reading this really good article from @Magpie Bill about our successful journey from National league & back to the EFL. Thanks to the new owners this was made possible. And credit should go to Neil Ardley & Ian Burchnall who both laid down the foundation for our success too. They may have come up short themselves, but they played their part in the success story that Luke was able to complete by his brilliant Management, which in turn, took us over the line in the end. And not forgetting those shrewd signings that helped just a little bit too.

Great read about Ben Davies. He was a very good player for Notts.

Lost railways of Nottingham
I visited Victoria Station a few times with my Dad to do some train spotting. It was a sin when they closed it because it was a much better line to the South and North. My Dad said at the time that they would regret closing it, plus other Stations & ripping up all those lines around the Country during the Beeching cuts, & I believe the powers that be do regret it, now that the roads are getting gridlocked.

They once played for Notts : Eric Probert
Yes he was. Eric came to us from Burnley after being a really good youth prospect. He spent 5 years with us and I remember him playing very well in many games for us. He was a regular fit in midfield for the first 3 years, but his appearances reduced due to injuries in his last 2 years at Notts. In all he played 122 games and scored 24 goals for us before going to Darlington.

Notts County’s Momentum: ‘One-nil Up is Not Job Done,’ Says Luke Williams
Luke has identified where the problems are and he's ready to go into the upcoming transfer window to strengthen the areas where we are lacking in defence, midfield & goalkeeper. I'm sure Luke Knows who he wants out of the players who will be available during the January window. Now that Macari has signed permanently, that gives us another option on the loan front too. Maybe go for a goalkeeper here to cover for Sam. I'm confident Luke will sort it.

One for the older supporters
In addition to Brad, Stubbs & Tony, some other names from that team: Bill Brindley & Bob Worthington solid full backs :David Needham centre back later with Forest under Clough: Don Masson midfield future Scotland international: Jon Nixon & Charlie Crickmore on the wings. Barry Watling solid goalie: Mick Jones defender but could play anywhere in defence. Richie Barker forward came from Derby. They were exceptional all over the pitch.

One for the older supporters
What a team that was. Tony Hateley coming back for his second spell, scoring 32 goals from 57 appearances. And, How could we do with Brian Stubbs at the heart of our defence right now? Oh and how could I forget. We had Les Bradd too, terrorising those opposition defences & the mystro Don Masson orchestrating everything good from midfield. Unfortunately, I don't remember who we were playing at the time in a home fixture that season, but I can see it now, Charlie Crickmore down the wing with a pin point cross right on Tony's head and the keeper had no chance. One of the best headers of the ball, I've seen. It was a great side built by Jimmy. That Championship Win was the beginning of a couple of decades of success that I will never ever forget.
