  1. @Piethagoram Disappointing Evening then? Reading your post you'd think with Neil being in Nottingham he would have gone into his time at the Lane in Great Detail or am I just assuming stuff? I can't see anymore of your post because I'm Not On X. So more details on PON would be appreciated if you have the time to do so?
  2. So I'm at the Doctor's and I get called in to her surgery. Hello what seems to be the trouble ? she asks. Morning Doctor. I've got this Discharge. Alright drop your Pants and Boxers and I'll have a Look So the Doctor looks and starts handling the Old Family Jewels. and things start to , well you know respond. Thankfully she stops and things start to settle down. Alright she says you can pull your Boxers and Pants back up. Now how was that? Very Nice I replied. Now this Discharge It's coming out of my Left Ear Doc.
  3. Beam Me Up @Scotty. Sorry couldn't resist. A very warm Welcome to you. You will find serious well informed and Daft Notts Fans on this site. Enjoy PON it's Grrreat. OOps there I go again
  4. @Robbie Don't think Notts are going to change their Model. Quote from Richard Montague. We also have every confidence in Matty's Ability to Embrace Our Style of Play. Doesn't sound like anything is Changing at the Lane on the Pitch. And as you say, Matty's biggest strength isn't his ball playing ability. So another player will have to adopt to Not Playing the way he's used to. Will that Affect His Game? Let's Hope Not.
  5. @Robbie @Fan of Big Tone Aye things move on, but sometimes not for the better . IMHO. A Manager would have his assistant and a staff of Scouting Personal, and that's would be all that was needed, regarding looking at potential Transfer Targets. A Manager would go to the Owner(s) and talk about a Player that they wanted to sign and they negotiated with the player and his representatives and a Deal was done, easier and more simpler, than having to jump through all the Hoops of today. Why do people make the Easy Hard and the Simple Difficult? It would also seem Head Coaches nowadays have all their talent flair and ideas Strangled for the sake of the Model (or Pep Ball.) For it would seem that Stuart Maynard was hired because when he was at Wealdstone, his team played in the same style of Luke Williams Notts Side. So we Fans need to ask would he have been chosen if, his Wealdstone team didn't play that way? Maynard came in for a lot of Stick because of not only the Magpies Poor results but playing a Style which wasn't working when Luke Williams left for Swansea. And yet it seems come Hell or High Water Notts will still play that same Style in the forthcoming Season, and if the Magpies results continue to Go South, Stuart Maynard will be the one who pays the Price by getting sacked, while those who insist on keeping Notts playing a losing Game Plan will Get Off Scott Free.
  6. The Term Manager seems to be slowly being eradicated from Football, to be replaced with the unflattering position name of Head Coach, and along with it the power or should that be a bigger say in team affaires, that a manager had. Interestingly the New New Man at Liverpool Arne Slot is the Head Coach, unlike his predecessor Jurgen Klopp who had the title of Manager. With the New name it also seems that a Head Coach is just that a Coach and it appears that unlike a Manager a Coach does Not have as much influence on things within the Club he works for. It comes across that a Head Coach doesn't have as much say in the signing of players, sure he can put forward his ideas and players he'd like in his team, but the last word on Transfers so it seems is down to the Recruitment team. Case in point Macca's signing before Luke Williams was revealed as the New Notts Head Coach. And what say does Stuart Maynard have regarding the signing of New Players? There will be Fans that will state that SM has a say in New Players coming to the Club, but does he really? After all can you see our Head Coach going into Richard Montague and saying Richard this new player you've got an eye on signing, I don't think he's the kind of guy who'll fit into the Notts way of playing. Do you think the reply would be Ok Stuart you're the Boss we'll look at somebody else. Nope, it would be well we've looked at his Data and We think he'll be the perfect fit. Answering my own question Does Stuart Maynard have a say in player transfer's ? Yes perhaps a small amount, but not the type of influence the likes of Jimmy Sirrel, Big Sam and Neil Warnock had when they were Manager down the Lane. Three Managers who brought Success to the Magpies. It would also seem that any New Coach going to a Club, who has a Playing Model in Place the New Coach has to follow that Model to the letter and Not add his own flair or ideas. It was stated that Roberto de Zerbi at Brighton left because Club wouldn't let him change the way they play, Albion finished 6th the season before last and 10th this. Zerbi saw where the team were failing but instead of allowing him to change things around he left by Mutual Consent. Yeah Right. Was it the same for Poch at Chelsea? He made changes at Chelsea towards the end of last season and things got better, But he moved away from the Chelsea Model, now he to is Out Of A Job. Manager or Head Coach? I know which I prefer.
  7. Tobi will be a good signing for Rochdale. He as a good turn of speed and as a Good Positive Attitude. It's a shame things didn't turn out well for him at Notts, what with his bad injury and little game time, to really show his full potential and push for a regular team spot. Good Luck Tobi, hope it turns out well for you.
  8. I remember back when I was at school, our Drama Group did our version of Treasure Island. There was me and another kid Malcom up for the part of Long John Silver. Thankfully Malc got the part. First day of rehearsal I noticed he wasn't there. So I said to the Drama Teacher Sir, where's Malcom? Oh he's in Hospital, having his left leg Amputated.
  9. When I was younger my Mum used to say There's always one weirdo on every bus But I could never find him. If the Actress Whoopi Goldberg married Master of Horror Peter Cushing. She be known as Whoopi Cushing. And if Claudia Schiffer married Brains from Thunderbirds. She be known as Claudia Schiffer Brains. Do you remember that Fox puppet on the tele Basil Brush. Did you know he had a German cousin Herr Brush ?
  10. His stats look pretty decent and he could link up well with Matt Platt making a tough looking Defence for Notts. That is of course if the Recruitment team can convince him to come to the Lane. I wonder what his Leadership qualities are?
  11. Lets hope this action is a wake up call for the Premier League and City's 115 charges of breaching the PL Financial rules will be Finally Investigated. Both Everton and Forest had their cases sorted and points deducted, now it should be City's turn. If they get a massive points deduction (as they should) and there's a Strong Possibility of Relegation, how long do you think Pep and City's Top Players Will Hang Around ?
  12. @Piethagoram Hopefully you can give us a Potted Run down of what happens. I would have liked to have gone, but I understand the Tickets Sold out quite quickly.
  13. I think @Robbie that United will say Ratcliffe only has a certain percent of ownership and that the Glaziers are to proper owners of United, that could be a way they Wrangle it.
  14. Hopefully that Scandinavian group doesn't include a Certain pair of Danish Brothers?
  15. @Simon Clark That's the good thing about these topics to encourage debate, but we've strayed off the Topic a little bit, when I wrote it my idea was to discuss letting the Premier League go it's own way and let the Rest of Football change things to a more equal footing and let Fans have a bigger say, but we seem to be caught up in a separate debate regarding the Play Off's I would be interested to learn of other Fans ideas regarding The EFL breaking away from the FA and the Premier League, (who I honestly believe is Ruining the Game we all love and follow.) and how they'd go about making things better.
  16. @Robbie I agree with some of your points, however it always struck me that Ruben didn't really want to be at Notts, he only wanted to use the Club as a window so he could show off his Footballing Skills and hope another club higher up the Footballing Pyramid would come in for him. As I understand it he was ready to leave the Lane before Ian Burchanell left and it was Luke Williams who convinced him to stay. And you really don't want a player who's all Me Me Me in the dressing room. Football after all is a Team Game.
  17. Once again things in the Premier League just get Dafter. Manchester United are going to offer 19 year old Kobbie Mainoo a new contract, which will quadruple his current weekly wage. This Obscene amount of money proves how much the Prem is out of Touch with the Real Footballing World. Can you Imagine the Amount of Pressure that's going to be placed on this Young Man's shoulders? He's going to have to perform at the top of his game, each and every game and the Media are going to have a field day, if he doesn't . Because one thing the Main Stream Media like other than building up a Player is Knocking him back down again. Let's hope there's someone's around to keep his feet firmly on the ground, because all that money is going to have one hell of an impact on his young life. Having so much cash and not knowing what to do with it all, is a certain way to lead him down the wrong path. And you'd think by now United would have some idea about giving a youngster that much money, how it can very easily ruin the Kids Life. Just remember a certain George Best. Good Luck Kobbie You're Gonna Need It.
  18. Lets be honest. Notts was just a stepping stone for Ruben, a player of his calibre wasn't going to be left in the Footballing basement of the National League or League 2 . The biggest Regret for the Owners must have been he went on a Free Transfer. I think he was offered a new contract before Transfer Window of 2022/2023 and he refused to sign it. That being the case he should have been Transfer Listed that January and Notts would have benefitted financially from his Sale.
  19. A few Years ago my eldest Son actually visited the Auschwitz Camp. He declared it is something that will stay with him for the Rest Of His Life. Even now after all the years that have past since the Camp's Liberation, there is a feeling of Evil in the atmosphere. After he told me about it, he said Dad everybody alive today and future Generations must make sure a thing like this, Never Happens Again.
  20. @Fan of Big Tone I have to agree with @Robbie . Imagine the feeling down the Lane if Notts had failed to get Promoted from the National League, after all the hard work the Squad and Coaching staff had put in only to be denied, at the very end of the season. And I would hazard to guess that a large majority of the team would have left, and that would have meant a total Rebuild at Notts. That expensive plus a possible drop in season ticket sales and the Magpies may still be stuck in that League even now trying to battle their way back into the EFL.
  21. @Robbie The reason I'd let the Premier League go it's own way is because if the top six went into a European Super League, those still left in PL would still have a distinct advantage over other clubs coming up from the Championship. And you would only be replacing the Top six with another top six and they'd dominate League and Cup competitions as the current top sides do. I think you'd only be changing Manchester City Manchester United Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea and Spurs, with Newcastle Villa Brighton West Ham Everton and Wolves. The second six may not be as strong as the original six, but any Club with owners with Deep pockets will end up dominating any remaining PL teams. This of course would be the same in the Lower Leagues, which means there would have to be a way of levelling up the teams. Maybe each team having to be allowed only a certain Transfer Budget, say £10 million with which they can spend on any amount of players within that Budget, be it one or half a dozen. Putting Teams on a more equal footing would benefit the game after all what Fan wants to go and watch their get thumped 4-5 nil on a regular basis? It would be very much down to the skill of the Coach and his Staff and not Money Bags owners. The Draft Pick (like American Football) I don't think would work. After all which team who has an excellent Academy would want to see their Star Youth player(s) packed off to play for another club? After they had brought the Kid on trained him and looked after his interests. A young player could be bought by another team as part of their Transfer Budget but would they be prepared to spend a part of their Transfer Budget on an untried Youngster? All Clubs should be encouraged to produce their own footballing talent, instead of poaching young players from other teams with a Better Academy.
  22. Here's an Idea. Get rid of the Premiership, by that I mean leave the Prem to it's own devices. The EFL need to break away from the FA and control the Championship League 2 and rebrand the National League League 3. Yes I know it isn't that simple but I'm sure Fans on this site and other sites and Football Fans in General could come up with a Blue Print that could work and engage with Fans and let them have a stronger say in the running of their club. My thoughts 1 A maximum Cap on Transfer fees. No player to be sold for more than £10 million. 2 Players wages set at a maximum figure of no more than £15,000 a week. 3 Do away with the Transfer window Transfer deals allowed during all the season. 4 Have their own Cup Competitions. 5 All pitches to be brought up to a certain standard. 6 Clubs in the National League be given a chance to play in the EFL League 3 if they so wish. 7 New owners must meet Strick Regulations before being allowed to purchase a Club. They must guarantee they are able to finance a Club for at least 5 years. 8 A Fund to be organized that all Clubs pay (once) an equal amount into to combat things such as another Pandemic. 9 Play offs to be discontinued. Each League top 3 up bottom 3 down. It's unfair a team in 6th place can get promoted over a team in 3rd place who may have 10, 15 or more points over the club in 6th place. 10 Clubs should be encouraged to bring through it's own talent and have a minimum of 3 players from their Academy in their Senior Squad. Those are my ten ideas and yes I know a more accomplished Football Fan could probably pick holes in it, but these are just my thoughts and ideas and I think letting the Premiership go it's own way, will be much better for the English Game in General, and Fans in particular. Now my fellow Magpie Fans it's your turn, lets have your ideas, and if you don't agree with a fellow fan's idea, remember it's their opinion and their entitled to it.
  23. If you have children I bet this question as come up. My son came home from school and asked Dad where do I come from? Er well um and you go through THE TALK and explain everything and say Do you understand all that I've told you? And with a Puzzled look on his face he said Yes I think so. Only there's a New Boy in our class who comes from Cornwall and I just wondered where I came from.
  24. @Robbie You're so right Mate, 36 teams in the Champions League, will devalue the competition in fact really they'll have to rename it. How about the European Super League? That's what UEFA is trying to do, bring in the Super League via the Back Door. As you've stated before UEFA aren't going to give up this money spinning idea , the Super League will come about one way or another and the 36 team Champions League is just another attempt to get it up and running. And what will happen? We'll get the moaning and groaning from the Premiership, The season's to long our players are tired playing all these extra games it means more chance of injuries to our players. And of course the FA with bend over backwards to accommodate the whining winging Premier League Prima Donna's and the rest of the English game will suffer.
  25. I remember the time my Dad had a large throbbing boil on the end of his nose. Poor guy couldn't sleep because of the pain. Mum couldn't sleep because she was laughing. Anyway in the end Mum called the Doctor in. The Doctor arrived and took one look at Dad and from his Doctor's bag, produced a needle, a Great Big Steel Needle. He ushered all the family out of the Bedroom and we all stood on the landing Listening. You could hear poor old Dad hollering and screaming in pain, for a good ten minutes finally everything went quiet. We all waited then the Doctor came out of the Bedroom. How is he Doctor? asked Mum His nose looks a lot better now replied the Doc I've sown a Button on it.
