  1. I don't like the word Wife, so I always introduce her as my ex-girlfriend which is pretty much the same thing really. My Wife knows everything about wine, like which wine goes with which Breakfast Cereal My Wife is a foot shorter than me, she doesn't even know I'm bald. I met my Wife on Jury Duty, that's how she got off.
  2. Fan of Big Tone how right you are, regarding Stuart Maynard reading some of the comments on other platforms it seems some Fans have condemned Stuart Maynard to the scrap heap, with remarks like he's totally out of his depth, Go back to being a BT Engineer, we need a manager who knows League 2, Notts going straight back to the National League etc etc. But as other Fans have pointed out. Maynard is trying to different things and trying to find a winning formula and that will take time however it's seems certain Fans don't want to give him that time. It would also seem that players and Fans are still having Luke Williams withdrawal symptoms because the guy made an incredible impact with both players and Fans, but he's gone to pastures new, it's No Good Living Off Past Glories, that too as gone, and as soon as the players and the Fans accept that and embrace the New regime at the Lane the better. Maynard as one hell of a job on his hands and he knows it, as would any manager stepping into Williams shoes.
  3. I know he's only had a second half appearance and he needs time to get in the Notts playing Style (such has it is), but I think Jatta is in the Eli Sam mould more than the Shola Ameobi mould. That is like Sam he'll come off the bench and get the odd goal, rather than Ameobi a big intimidating forward who scores and sets up goals. This probably seems harsh but I can't get rid of the nagging doubt I have in the back of my mind, and Nothing would please me more than to be proven wrong.
  4. I once went fly fishing and caught a 7 pound Bluebottle. Me and the wife were staying at a nice hotel, we went down for breakfast first morning, there was a sign which said Breakfast 7am until 11 am. I'll tell you by 9 O'clock I couldn't eat another thing. I remember for our last anniversary I took the wife out No Expensive Spared. I even booked a table, which was a waste of time, she only potted three balls all night. What about that woman at the Diving World Championships, she's on the the diving board and she's got a fresh water fish under one arm. She dives off does a triple back somersault with Pike.
  5. After the 5-1 drubbing Notts took in their opening game back in the EFL at Sutton, the Magpies really owe them and as they are the bottom of the League nothing less than three points will do and a 4 or 5 Nil victory would really be revenge for Notts. Looking at the remaining fixture left this season, unless things improve dramatically at Notts I can't see the Magpies getting more than between 15-20 points in the games left this season.
  6. You're so right Robbie, Notts need to learn to win Ugly my only worry is that their current game tactic is so ingrained that they won't be able to play any other way. I do so hope I'm wrong. The sign of a Good Team is they can adapt to the way any opposition plan and counter it as Crewe proved. As you stated in another one of your comments there needs to be one Hell of a Shake Up down the Lane in the Summer hopefully by then Cedwyn Scott Matty Palmer and Badge will be back from their long term injuries, and certain players will be let go and others released from their contracts. And both Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley will be offered extended contracts and who knows there may even be a New Man n the Dug Out as well. We'll have to wait and see.
  7. Even more Ammo for the Anti Maynard gang, but after today's performance well who's not to say they don't have some points. This tippy tappy Football tactic was coming unravelled when Williams was still at the Lane and Maynard was bought in to carry on with this tactic and tighten the defence up, well the defence on occasion have not leaked as many goals in some recent matches but the Magpies still lost those games. Is the new Gaffer out of his depth ? Are certain players not up to League 2 standard? It would seem like it, Maynard came in when Notts were facing the top teams in the Division , but that excuse is starting to wear thin for some Fans and only gathering 4 points from the games he's been in charge doesn't bode well for the Gaffer. It would seem Notts forwards have forgotten how to score. This possessional Game Plan Needs To Be Scrapped and a new way to play needs to be introduced, sooner rather than latter or the Magpies decline will continue, Even if it's only going back to the basics. Crewe had three shots on goal and scored each time and were clearly the better side. If this losing streak isn't stopped a lot of Notts Fans are going to start looking for other things to do on a Saturday afternoon.
  8. OOOPS Jokes disappeared don't know why.
  9. What about the Football Team playing in the Europe for the first time , they're away in Germany, hold their own then in the last three minutes of the game the German Centre forward scores three goals. The Manager had to go to hospital for Jerry Hat Trick treatment. My Mum always told me there's always one weirdo on every bus. But I could never find him. Then there was the time my watch stopped half way through a minute's silence. I couldn't tell anybody, I was stood there for hours. I need to go and have my eyes tested, I never see the wife until I'm on top of her.
  10. Three old guys sitting on park bench, first old man says it's Windy, his mate says No it's Thursday and third bloke says So am I lets go for a pint. I was once asked in I believed in reincarnation, I said No and I didn't believe in it when I was a Frog. Plural it's Binoculars. While singerly it's Telescope. Every time me and the wife make Love, I put a pound in a glass jar at the side of the bed, then come December , I take all the money out of the jar and buy the wife her Christmas present with money. I'll tell you what, she's Not getting that New Coat She Wanted.
  11. I think this kid has a promising future down the Lane. And it will be interesting to see how he plays along side Matty Palmer, when Matty is back from injury and back in the team.
  12. Regarding those who ask the questions in these interviews I hope they aren't getting paid. The first guy seems Ok but the other two sound like they've just woken up!! Their questions are all the same only put differently, there's no questions about how Jatta's settling in, is SM considering him for a place on the bench ? How does he think his new striker will fit into the Notts set up? It's boring and mundane. The Lass who questioned Stuart Maynard in his first interview after being confirmed as the new Notts head coach sounded professional and asked the right questions.
  13. You know when your Love Life gone down the drain, when your making Love to your wife and she puts the Ash tray in the middle of your back. My mate Danny he's a bit of a Lad, spent his life in and out of prison, anyway I met him in a pub the other night, he told me he 'd just robbed a place and he had two pictures in the boot of his car, one worth £1.7 million and one worth£1.9 million, would I like to see them. Yeah Ok I said. In the car park he open's his car boot and I had a look. Danny I said you've robbed an Estate Agents. I went to the Doctor's and he asked for a stool sample, so I've enrolled in a basic woodworking class, the Doc did looked concerned when I said it will probably take a couple of months for me to produce. I'm currently studying my families history. One of my Great Great Uncles knew, the exact day he was going to die. A judge told him.
  14. The Wife comes in after day out Hi Sweetheart Did You Miss Me ? She asked With Every Bullet So Far, I replied I went to the Headquarters of the PDSA, it's such a Tiny Place, you couldn't Swing A Cat round. If the actress Whoopi Goldberg married the Master of Horror Peter Cushing. She'd be known as Whoopi Cushing. My Wife and I were in a restaurant waiting to be served, across the way sat a woman on her own I think she was waiting for someone. Suddenly the woman Farted it was very loud and all the other customers heard it. She turned to the waiter and said Stop That. He looked at her and said Madame which way did it go? I remember the First Time I Ever Saw My Wife. She was outside a shop picking her teeth. Then she went in and Bought Them.
  15. Thanks for your thoughts fellow Fans, there are some good points in all your replies and hopefully more Magpie followers will join the debate. Regarding Lewis and Jodi , Lewis was coming to the end of his contract (I believe) and his loan was an ideal way for him to impress at Notts. And Jodi it would seem nobody would give the lad a chance after his A.C.L. injury and such a long time out of the game, it was a stroke of genius by the Notts recruitment team, to see what a fully Fit Jodi Jones could do for Notts and Boy as it paid off Big Time. The Main thing I have against loans is the good loan players benefit Notts in the short term, while Home Grown Talent could be there for a few seasons.
  16. Over the forty years I've been following the Magpies, the club have had some good, some bad and some indifferent loan players, and to be honest I wasn't bothered about it at first. However, over the years there have been some loan players who have pulled on a Notts Shirt and have stood out for me, namely, Jack Grealish, Callum McGregor from 2013 and Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates from 2017. I remember Grealish's home League debut, I believe it was against Tranmere Rovers (I stand to be corrected) and the only way the grizzled veteran defenders could stop this kid was to kick trip or stamp on him. However, most of the time opposition players couldn't get near him, and even at time it was clear young Jack had a big future ahead of him. Which has been proven over the following years, England International and a full Trophy Cabinet with Manchester City. Callum McGregor is another talented player who did wonders for Notts, in his loan period he netted 14 goals in all competitions. He also went on to win International Honours this time with Scotland. His Trophy Cabinet with Celtic is bursting at the seams. Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates both came from over the Trent, and both put in some excellent performances in the Black & White Stripes. When Yates was in the team it seemed to bring out the best in Grant, but when Yates was recalled to Forest it seemed to me he lost some of his spark or edge. As of 2024, Grant is at Hearts while Yates still plays for the Reds. Notts County will undoubtedly reap the benefits from these four types of loan acquisitions. The Bad comes about when players are recalled by their parent club in January as in the case of Ryan Yates. This call back to the City Ground caused Bad Blood between the Magpies and Reds. Things have been patched up(?) But (I don't think) another young Forest player has come over the Trent since. The thing for me is, are loans hindering the progress of young Notts players? There are a number of youth players out on loan, playing as it's said Men's Football. But shouldn't the Notts coaching staff be looking to bring these players into the senior squad? Do they hope to play in the first team?!? It may be disheartening for young players being continually loaned out to different clubs season after season, without really being given the chance to play for the first team. After all, I believe (and I stand to be corrected) Curtis Thompson was the last Notts player to come through the ranks and hold down a regular first team place at the Lane. And finally, of course Jodi Jones and Lewis Macari were also loan signings, but in my opinion their circumstances were different. What do you think, fellow Notts fans? What are the advantages and disadvantages of loaning a player? Notts County's head coach Stuart Maynard has given his thoughts on the upcoming game against Crewe Alexandra. 17. Notts must win this game. The Magpies have already lost to many matches on home soil and another defeat just wont do. If Notts do loose then in some quarters of the Notts so called fan base will want to pour more scorn on Stuart Maynard, and the more, the team looses the more the band of Anti Maynard Fans will grow. The biggest problem at Notts is over the last 18 months Magpie Fans have been used to the team winning matches, now in the world of the EFL Notts are finding out that the tactics that held them in good stead in the National league Do Not Work in League 2. Maynard is doing his best and the defence is doing better, but winning matches I'm afraid is the Be All and End All in this League.
  18. I walked past this sign which states Murphy's Tool Works. So does mine but I don't go around Bragging about it. I knew this chap who had a little Yorkshire Terrier. He took that dog with him everywhere he even took it hand gliding with him, he'd put the dog between his knees. And you thought Bird droppings were Bad for Your Car. Police Notice. The Man who steals T Shirt in Size Order, is Still At Large. I've bough this Book called The History of Glue. I just Can't Put It Down.

The Man who invented Cats Eyes for the middle of the road, got the idea when the headlights of his car reflected in the eyes of a Cat walking towards him, if the Cat had been walking away he would have invented the Pencil Sharpener.
  20. Welcome welcome Truro Pie, I'm fairly new to this site as well and have been warmly welcomed by all the Notts Fans on here. Truro with that being in Cornwall I thought you'd be more interested in Pasties than Pies. HA HA.
  21. I wonder how long it will before the Looney Left, start bleating on about how UK Swimming is to White?
  22. I lost my hair when I was 16. What a Game of Cards that was. So there I was in the starting blocks for 100 metres Rice Pudding race, waiting for the starter to Say Go My mate went to the barber's and asked for some highlights , the barber gave him a video of old hair cuts. When I was young I moved into this house full of John Lennon impressionists. Imagine All The People.
  23. So this blond goes to the Doctor's and says, It's about those Birth Control Pills you gave me. Yes what about them asks the Doc. Well replies the blond they keep falling out. Greenacres, a home for retired Gentlefolk was a boring place, until one old girl decides to liven things up by running Naked over the home's lawns. Their just too Clicky for me.
  24. Personally I think once Tiernan Brooks loan spell with Rochdale is over, he should be given a chance to stake a claim in the Notts Squad next season.
  25. Watched the extended highlights on You Tube. Watching Didzy's so called hand ball I thought the ball hit him in the chest, so the goal should have stood, but that's football as they say. I think Didzy needs a rest, he leaves all he's got on the pitch every game, so getting Jatta up to speed is a must. Like fellow fans I was surprised that Macari didn't start he had an excellent game at Newport. Nice to see the defence starting to tighten up, but Notts still need a couple more defenders. And a Leader on the pitch, something I don't think the Magpies have had since Michael Doyle.
