Really interesting topic 👌. Because this is where a manager/head coach earns the money. They only have a few levers to pull: Add new players, and by inference get rid of those you don't think are up to it. Get what you have fitter - big difference at any level. Use the carrot and the stick for those you want to improve. Massage the system to better suit the players. Increase the tempo of play, assuming you have the right skill set. So far MP seems to be working hard on 2 to 5, so I am very much looking forward to those first ten games. Hopefully the Brothers and DofF can deliver the first.🙏

Nothing to do with lack of ambition. All to do with sustainability. Unless of course you have the odd million or two to through down the drain. Surely recent NCFC history clearly demonstrates that?

@piedestrian absolutely! Nothing at all wrong with the club. We've had a very productive and progressive 6 years and while it would be nice to have seen players A, B and C earlier we should all be very confident the Brothers and their management know what they are doing. Keep the faith and no negative waves (as the man said).

A = GK, definitely. B = Striker, definitely C = Attacking midfielder, probably? Or another Striker, maybe? If Christmas comes early this year then maybe we get D as well which means we get two Strikers and a midfielder 🎅

Well if he can convert his inspirational words into inspirational play he has my vote. Looking forward to seeing these new players A, B and C

@menzinho agree. Definitely more forthright and persuasive. Nothing against Stuart but I think he did lack a little conviction sometimes.

I too thought he came across very well. Though as @Robbie says let's see what happens on the pitch in Germany. That should be a good test.

The concensus seems we need 2 or maybe 3 quality players to fill the gaps in attack and midfield left by Didsy and Crowley. Not squad players, but starters. If those types of players are signed in the next few weeks we will all feel a lot happier. I don't believe it will be sooner as Paterson will surely want to see what resources he has before he can provide input to the recruitment process. The tour to Germany is another good piece of planning by the Brothers to enable this to happen. So, who do we get by the end of July? Starters or squad players? That will speak volumes as to how this season will play out.

MP must know someone in high places ? He couldn't have wished for an easier first 10 games to be judged by. Looking at odds checker by the end of September we play: Salford, Gillingham 12s (same as Notts) Shrewsbury, Crawley 25s Crewe 33s Barrow, Bromley, Tranmere, Fleetwood at 40s Newport 100/1 to start. He needs a lot of luck as his track record is patchy at best and has only 20 matches at Burton as experience. Let's hope he gets off to a good start before the keyboard warriors star to circle. Fingers crossed 🤞 he's a rough diamond that just needs a little polish.
