  1. I thought they’d be loads better than us, since they’re like a Championship team compared to us. But only letting in 2 goals isn’t that bad, and that’s something to feel good about. If we want to play in a tougher league one day, games like this can help the players learn and get braver. It’s nice that Martin Paterson really wants to help the squad get stronger. Testing stuff in friendlies doesn’t make us lose any points. So it’s alright to try new ideas. It’s also good that Paterson switched things up. It helps him learn more about the team and how they play.
  2. The players should get fitter and learn to stay focused, but they shouldn’t be scared to make strong tackles or worry about being too kind when playing. Football needs tough players who aren’t afraid to fight for the ball. He’s played at high levels, so we know he’s got good experience. Our team sometimes looks tired or starts slow, and that can be a problem. If we work on our fitness and show the right attitude, things can really change. It makes me feel excited because it sounds like we’re going in the right direction. There’s a good chance we’ll improve with better energy and teamwork.
  3. I think Notts should have tried to sign him because it made sense. But that doesn’t mean the club wanted him, and maybe Jack Stevens didn’t want to join Notts either. Our squad is good. There’s still stuff to work on, but saying we’re weaker feels wrong. We only really lost David McGoldrick, and he might be a very different player next season anyway. The main worry for me is replacing Alex Bass. That makes the team weaker, but I think Stevens could have helped by scoring goals. I just don’t agree when people say our team looks weak. Some players might not join because they think they won’t get to play much, or that there’s too much competition. Nobody knows what’s really going on, so I don’t think people should worry too much or try to make others scared.
  4. Mai Traore still hasn’t shown much. He’s not really settled into English football yet. He did alright against Alfreton, but it’s clear he still needs time to catch up. To me, he’s a bit like James Sanderson. They both have things to learn. But I feel a younger player might be better at getting the ball to the right place and helping the team more.
  5. I think it shows we really need another striker, not just Matthew Dennis. I hope the team doesn’t start the season with only two strikers and expect to do well. We’ll probably need more if we want to get promoted. I’m not sure about Traore. Maybe he has something to do with France? It’s kind of strange and I don’t really get it.
  6. Just asking if anyone from Notts wants to let a Forest player stay over. No tricks or anything.
  7. If the club aren’t taking him to Germany, I think he’s probably going out on loan. It’s a bit annoying because he’s a home-grown player and could help the team without costing loads of money or needing to pay extra wages. I reckon James Sanderson is good enough to play with the first team now. He might only play sometimes, but I don’t get why young players sit on the bench and don’t play much. I really hope the club wants to start giving the young players more chances. They train hard and need a proper go at it.
  8. The away kit looks cool. I think it’s really nice and has a good style to it. It’s something different, and I like that. I thought they might use yellow, not white. But I get why they changed it. It’s fun when teams try out new looks.
  9. I know James Sanderson still has lots to learn, but out of all the young players from the academy, I think he’s the one who really needs more game time. He always does well in friendly matches, he did last year and again when we played Alfreton Town on Saturday. I thought he was an attacking midfielder, but I’ve seen him play out wide too. If he can do both, that’s really useful for the team. Maybe it’s time we start giving him a chance with the first team. I’m being serious with this and would love to know what other fans think. I’m not just saying it because I’m young, I really believe he’s got something special.
  10. Jak Alnwick, Jack Walton, and Ben Amos all look like good goalkeepers. I’ve heard some stuff about them, and they seem like they’d be strong options in goal. Jason Kerr, Odcar Wallin, and Jerriel Dorsett could help tighten up the defence. I don’t know loads about them, but it sounds like they’ve got decent experience. Harvey Knibbs, Dan Kemp, Odin Bailey, Nick Powell, and Chris Sze might be exciting to watch in midfield. I’d be interested to see how they’d fit in and help make chances. Will Evans, Rhys Healey, Jayden Stockley, Richard Kone, and Issak Davies all sound like forwards who could score goals. If we got one of them, it’d be cool to see how many they could get.
  11. https://gaschat.co.uk/thread/23206/signed-romaine-sawyers?page=1 If Martin Paterson gives Conor Grant the support he needs, I think he could become a better player who creates more chances and scores more goals. Players like him do well when someone believes in them. I like how Grant plays, but I’m not always sure he should be in the starting team just yet. He tries hard and is still learning, so he just needs more time to grow. I’ve heard Romaine Sawyers did alright in the Championship, but not all West Brom fans were big fans of his. It sounds like Bristol City fans were split too. I even shared a link where some of them were talking about it.
  12. I liked listening to Luke Williams because the way he spoke was really interesting and made you think. Martin Paterson is different, he talks more straight to the point and sounds like someone who really knows football and wants to learn every day. I thought his answers were good. It would be better if the people asking the questions sometimes pushed him a bit more, not in a mean way, just so we could understand better why he was upset with Lewis Macari, and what he thought about the other players too. It would help to know if he plans to work on those mistakes in training.
  13. I was so excited to get home from school today. I was hoping to see some news about a new signing, but nothing yet. There’s still time though. It’s been a nice day, even though I’ve been stuck inside. Some people just kept going on and on about the same thing, and it got a bit boring. Tomorrow will be better. I’ve got football to look forward to, and even though I’ve got double maths after, it’s still the best day of the week.
  14. Hello, @Peter Thornley. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham. There has been a number of new members joining as of late, I am one myself. I hope you join us and help make the site even better.
  15. Hello, @James Macdonald. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham! I am a new member myself, and I am enjoying what I see. I hope you do too.
  16. I think I saw him warming up before the game against Alfreton Town, but after that, I didn’t see him again. I don’t think he got on the pitch. I should probably check if he was on the bench, but from what I remember, I don’t think he was.
  17. There were lots of good things to take from the game. It helped Paterson see what still needs work and how to get the team playing the way he wants. I really liked what he said after the match. He answered the questions clearly and didn’t make any excuses.
  18. Nice poem, Michael. I have to write poems sometimes in English, and I find it really hard. That’s why I think it’s great when someone else does it well. You’ve done a good job.
  19. I’m not really a Chelsea fan, but since they’re the only English team left, I hope they win. I’d rather they win than someone like PSG or Real Madrid. It feels better when the trophy comes home.
  20. What I think we missed most about Aaron Nemane was how he could cut the ball back and make chances just by running with it. He was really good at that and could get things going when nothing else was working. I didn’t think he was the best at defending, but when it came to skill and speed, he could twist past defenders like it was easy. I do agree, we did miss him sometimes.
  21. @DangerousSausage, some fans might not agree about this signing, like when people argue about liking coconut. Right now, everyone’s feeling a bit low and not very confident. But when the season starts, having a player like this could really help Notts. He likes to go forward and attack, and that’s what we need. I remember him playing for Barnsley, so the fact they wanted him shows he must be good.
  22. Some fans might want us to win by a lot or play really well, but it’s the first game since last season ended, so it might not look that good. That’s okay though. What really matters is making sure the players stay fit and get some time on the pitch before the League Two season starts. I hope Alfreton play nicely and remember it’s just a friendly match. I don’t want to see anyone like Jodi getting kicked or hurt. It would be really bad if someone got injured this early, before the season even begins.
  23. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham, @MikeWood. I recently joined myself and I think its easy to get involved once you make your first post.
  24. From one new member to another, hello @theAnticlough. Welcome to Pride of Nottingham!
  25. Why worry about it? Alex Bass has left now. He did well while he was with us, and we’ve got good memories to keep. We don’t even support Peterborough United, so if they cancelled the friendly, that’s up to them. And if Notts cancelled it for some reason, it doesn’t really change anything either. It’s not a big deal.
